I went here for the first ever Yelp Manchester Breakfast Club. This small deli in Didsbury was full of early morning diners on arrival, so we grabbed a small table outdoors, until space was made and then hurried back inside as it was freezing! But, I imagine its a lovely place to dine outdoors when it warms up a bit. Great comprehensive menu, covering all bases of breakfast, from full English or rather full Didsbury, a large selection of egg based breakfast delights including Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine, French Toast, American Toast, Bagels, Porridge and Churros . . . yes Churros! Delicious fried cinnamon dough, rolled in sugar with hot chocolate sauce, wow! As well as serving delicious food, there is also a great selection of olives, cheeses, chutneys, teas and cakes to buy. I could of spent a good hour perusing the shelves and stocking up on all sorts of world cheeses and home made hummus's, but I was so full after my Full Didsbury, that I just bought some roasted garlic and headed for a lie down. I shall return and maybe next time visit the chickens who live in the garden out back. read more

As Burton Road Bakery (http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/burton-road-bakery-manchester) was full and there was a wait for tables, we decided to pop round the corner and try out the untested Thyme for a spot of brunch instead. Though there were no tables available inside, there was room out the front under their large canopy which had bench seating and patio heaters. The friendly waiter promptly gave us the menus and after a quick look I chose to have a pot of Earl Grey tea (obviously), which was a bargain at less than £2. My friends also went for tea and coffee. There was a 20 minute wait for us to get our drinks, with a couple of the staff not catching on at us looking round slightly forlorn and tea-less. When they did arrive though, they were those colourful 'Tea for One' cup and teapot sets which held about 2-3 cups-worth of brew, so they were definitely value for money from a café. Two of us ordered Eggs Benedict and one a Full English. I've had much better eggs I must say - they were overcooked and lacked the runniness you look forward to getting when you cut into them. All in all though the food was fine (the bacon in particular was good), though it wasn't amazing. This probably isn't somewhere to dine if you only want a quick bite to eat on busy days, but you can get a half decent brunch and drink for just less than a tenner. read more

You can tell this shop is owned by someone who lives and breathes quality food (in this case trained chef Ben Hayes). He chooses great items that have clearly been tested for taste, but he also makes sure that his products have as few artificial colours and preservatives as possible. The best bit about Thyme Out Deli is eating in though. It might not be the cheapest place to go for cafe fare, but the best ingredients are guaranteed, and any menu with Eggs Benedict is an instant reason to sit down for breakfast. In fact, if there's Eggs Benedict on the menu, I find it difficult to choose anything else. Luckily, it's the best I've had in ages. A wonderful outside catering menu (which you can find on their website) and a free delivery for anything over £20 is what really makes this Deli a winner though. Love it. read more

Let's be clear here: if you order one of the cooked breakfasts, you won't be eating lunch. What seem like the "smaller" versions such as the Full Didsbury are still huge. The main reason this is a problem is because they're so good: you will feel guilty about leaving some of the great sausages they serve you here. They whip up a pretty decent coffee and fresh juice, and the eggs really couldn't get fresher, since the producers live out back. I think they'll let you play with them if you ask nicely, since the staff here could not be friendlier. The deli things (oil, coffee beans and the like) they also sell are definitely worth a browse too. read more

10.30am on a Sunday morning - full to the brim with customers. If that isn't a good sign I'll eat my Macbook Pro. When I started a Yelp Manchester Breakfast Club, I chose a cute place out in the West Didsbury 'burbs which I'd been wanting to try for a while. And I've been back countless times since, especially when I've needed a snack or serious sustenance during the Didsbury Passport. And now that I drink coffee, I appreciate this place even more! But back then, one look at the web menu and my mouth was watering, so it was a definite. Eggs Benedict, Florentine and Arnold all present, omelette form, scrambled with smoked salmon... On the belly buster end of the scale there are a variety of Full Englishes from the 'Full Didsbury' to the 'Foodie's Breakfast' with its wild boar sausage and eggs laid by the hens out back, all with a generous amount of ciabatta or toast, and the Continental menu provides warm croissants and pastries by the bucketload. I've been back to try the meat since going carnivorous and boy, is it good quality. I remember back when we first arrived, finding the place bustling and taking a seat outside with our coats still wrapped round us, but as we were about to go, one of the ladies serving said as an aside, "That table looks like it's leaving soon, so I'll keep you posted - it's freezing today." Er, hello, I love you. Outside we sat with our pots of herbal tea and a coffee, and indeed we were nodded to when the table vacated. We cosied up in the warm, and I noticed some incredible, amazing things I hadn't spotted on the online menu. American Toast, with egg soaked bread and maple syrup... and CHURROS. I repeat. Churros. Do you know what this MEANS to me as an honorary Spaniard? Churros! With chocolate! And cinnamon sugar! They had to be ordered anyway. So I grabbed some for the table, and happily they arrived before the breakfasts we ordered. Piping hot, thank goodness for my asbestos tongue because I dove right in. By the end we were dipping the decorative slices of strawberry into the hot chocolate. The Foodie's Breakfast is huge, the Full Didsbury is hearty, the Eggs Benedict presented beautifully and served with crisp streaky bacon atop it, and the Arnold is like an omelette pie of a breakfast, baked in its dish. My American Toast was just what the doctor ordered - sliced into delicate miniature triangles and drowned gorgeously in maple syrup with a snowy dusting of icing sugar on top. Bliss. And mine came with sliced strawberries too! They worked so well with the toast. By the end of the meal I couldn't help but mooch around the deli and grab some goodies to take home with me. After that it it was 'Thyme Out' - but I'm bound to be back to sample some more delicious goodies. I've definitely raided the deli section a few times to take away jars of amazingness like strawberry and black pepper jam, and epic cakes. It's one of many great excuses to return to West Didsbury. Oh Yeah!! What a fantastic breakfast place for breakfast, I would go as far to say one of the best in Manchester. Whilst there are lots of healthy alternatives on the menu, fresh fruit, swiss muesli and porridge I would stay well clear of them and go straight for the Foodie's Breakfast, ham, venison and pork belly sausages, mushrooms and a freshly laid egg from one of the clucking girls out the back . The yolk was so yellow I needed to put on my sunglasses to eat it, it was like a little yellow sun sitting on the plate it was that bright. And for all those thinking, this guy had a massive hangover you are wrong. The coffee is excellent as well. Haven't been there for dinner but if the food is a good as breakfast it has to be good. read more

Thyme out used to be my favourite café for breakfast on the weekend. So we had to go there for our first breakfast of our weekend in Manchester. It's as great and crowded as ever. We were lucky that a small take freed up very quickly. The poached eggs with salmon were fantastic and so was the burger. My boyfriend even preferred it over the Almost Famous burger he had. That's high praise. Great coffee and super yummy cakes too. Plus friendly and attentive staff. A must go every time. read more

I'll start with the negative so that we can swiftly move on to the positive. This would be a five star review were it not for the fact that we were sat near the kitchen. The staff in the kitchen could not stop shouting at one another. Every order that came in or out was screamed at high volume with more than a hint of hostility. I appreciate that working in a kitchen can be stressful but if you're sat near the open kitchen door and your entire meal is punctuated by staff hollering at one another, it puts a bit of a damper on your relaxing Sunday brunch. Onwards - the food was really nice. He had the full English and I had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict. Both were generous portions of high quality tasty food. The menu is really interesting and has some non-traditional options which is always good. My coffee was lovely and the service was great. I wouldn't let it put me off going again but they really need some team building exercises for the kitchen staff - or they need to start closing the kitchen door. read more

We arrived at Thyme having read in timeout magazine that this was one of the 10 most recommended go-to places to brunch in Manchester. At 1.30pm on a Sunday we were told it would be a not so outrageous 5 minute wait, however, there was a little mix up and the patrons who came in after us were seated before us. Reasoning that sometimes mistakes happen and additionally with it being a lazy Sunday we didn't mind waiting. However, the staff at the restaurant realized their mistake and apologized profusely. They offered us drinks while we waited, menus to peruse and kept us informed of when we would be seated. 20 minutes later we were seated and we had ordered. I went for the build your own option with bacon, beans, fried egg cooked over hard and gluten free toast, whilst my partner went for the breakfast burrito which was filled with scrabbled egg, pancetta, sausage, avocado and with a smidge of hollandaise sauce. The food was pretty good, everything was cooked well. It would have been nice to have some butter on the side to spread on my toast but overall it was more than decent. My partners burrito was similar, it was well presented, well cooked but it needed a little something else flavour wise to make it great. For their earlier mistake the staff kindly waived the fee for the drinks and brought us over complimentary cake. This was very generous. The vibe of this place is very modern contemporary and if it had been less damp outside then I almost certainly would have loved to sit outside in their covered and heated patio area which also has blankets for those who need added warmth. What I loved about this place wasn't necessarily the food, it was the hospitality and service. The staff were all attentive, regardless of whether they were waiting your table and they all looked like they enjoyed working at the deli and actually got along. It was nice to watch. Popped in here for a quick brunch with the girls a few weeks ago. It's right around the corner from me, yet it's a little off the beaten track, so I alway forget it's there. We timed it just right as when we arrived we got a table straight away, however ten minutes later the place was packed and people were waiting outside for tables to become available. For me it had to be the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict and because I was feeling ravenous I also added a side of hash browns! The hollandaise sauce was creamy but light, the salmon was smokey but not too overpowering and as soon I sliced into the eggs, the icing was on the cake, as they were perfectly runny. Mmmm perfection. The staff were working their socks off, but were still attentive and exceptionally quick. Of course the outside seating area needs to be covered due to the Manchester weather - but sadly this stops the sound from escaping, so when it's busy (which it was when I was there), the sound is a little too much!! That is the only negative I have about Thyme Out though!! read more

I ordered my own pick and mix breakfast snf my friend had breakfast burrito which was awesome-. The service was quick and very friendly and the prices once again really reasonable. We visited Thyme Out last weekend after searching for a few places online. Although my boyfriend stipulated 'somewhere other than Didsbury' we ended up going there anyway as the menu and the website really grabbed our attention. I phoned to book a table, but they said they don't make reservations, which did cause me to worry as it was Sunday morning. Upon arriving the place was extremely busy with only a table available in the back next to the toilets, however the waiter told us a table would be free in a few minutes and we could move to a better location as soon as possible. I thought that this was great service and we happily moved in under two minutes. I ordered a Full English and my boyfriend attempted to order the scotch egg, but we were later informed that they had sold out. It would have been better if they had told us the availability before-hand, but it wasn't much of an issue as he then changed his mind to a fried egg with olives and prosciutto. I was extremely impressed by my full english - the plate was absolutely stacked and I really enjoyed the Bury black pudding, which I would typically push to one side in any other setting. The bacon was crisp and my egg was cooked to perfection. I would probably have liked a few more baked beans, but I'm a bit bean mad, so I'm sure that wouldn't bother most people. For drinks we ordered two smoothies - a cherry smoothie and a club tropicana. My boyfriend definitely chose the better option - the club tropicana, but both were made with fresh fruit and were delightful. I would definitely visit again and would probably try the special full english - with venison sausages and an egg laid from their own back garden - how quaint :P Overall it was a great experience although somewhat pricey. read more

As someone who hasn't been brought up in the UK, the idea of a stodgy English Breakfast with poor quality produce has no appeal to me at all. That is why I was pleased to find Thyme Out Delicatessen off Burton Rd in West Didsbury. Upon arriving, I took my own seat outside in the garden area, and shortly after ordered their eggs benedict and a cafe latte. The egg yolks had a rich orange colour and were perfectly cooked; rich but not overpowering. The cafe latte was OK, it was served in a tall clear glass - where there was frothed milk on the top that had not been mixed with the crema, and the rest of the coffee was a milky consistency. This is a trend I am not too keen on as I find the milk flavour takes away from the coffee taste. Other than that slight criticism, the coffee was served at the correct temperature and was a much better standard than your typical Starbucks. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience and I look forward to visiting again. read more

Had a really good brunch here, it was quiet and meant that conversation was easy, the staff were fabulous. The hot chocolates were flowing (as you can imagine if you have read other places I have reviewed). We even got in a game or two of cards, always good to find cards supplied on your table.
