Just returned from my fifth trip. The other trips I would have given 5 stars, but this time did…read morenot live up to the other years. The food was not nearly as good as previous years. Italian night was not a great change. The food was mediocre. Go back to fajita night instead. I did a morning hike from 7-9:30am. Concerned about getting breakfast, I asked at the front desk the night before and they assured me I would be able to get breakfast when I got back. There was no food available before we left at 7, and when we returned all that was available was soggy cut fruit and tiny containers of cereal. Not enough for a hot day after a long hike. Even after a good lunch, I felt bad the entire day and had to cancel my afternoon ride because I felt like I might pass out. This ruined the whole rest of my day at a very expensive dude ranch. I didn't get to ride one of my days- at a dude ranch!- because of the lack of food available. When I complained, all I got was a "thanks for letting us know and we'll try to do better" response that felt insincere.

The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. There was a slight mix up with a private ride we had scheduled, but the ranch's response exceeded our expectations and we ended up having the best trail ride of our visit. I've been riding my whole life and my husband has limited riding experience. Although we weren't able to fit in the more intensive rides this trip, we both had a fantastic time on our walk rides. The horses were well taken care of, well trained, and fun to learn about. The highlights of our activities were the trail rides, cowboy cookout, pickleball clinic and spa service. The dog house saloon became a favorite spot to grab drinks and play pool after dinner. We had a wonderful time and would recommend it to anyone looking for a mixture of relaxation, adventure and authenticity.

There are a wide assortment of rooms. Last time we had a nice Casita. This time we were in a smaller room, but it still had a wood-burning fireplace, which was so cozy on chilling evenings, The property is beautiful, the trail rides are wonderful and the desert landscape is stunning. It is such a treat to be around and ride the horses. We also went on great walks, hikes. They also have tons of activities I'd like to try next time, like pickleball, tennis, archery, fishing, etc. The pool area and Jacuzzi is so relaxing and beautiful. My husband loved the saloon, and it was a fun watering hole for happy hour. I was doing Dry January, and the bartender made me a tasty mocktail, and we met some nice people. The food was very good. We were there for Friday prime rib night, which was awesome, and loved the salad and soup bar. Looking forward to our next trip and hope to bring more family or friends next time!

A lot of people come here for the restaurants as well. Superb service at the restaurant. One of the restaurants with enclosed outdoor dining has live music. It's adjacent to the bar that serves food from both restaurants. The outdoor and bar restaurant allows dogs and have a dog menu. It's so cute. The dog food is human/whole food. It's served in a metal dog bowl. So be careful and check that the food and bowl has cooled down before serving your dog.

My sister and I both visited the ranch on a day pass and were told that one of the restaurants was closed for renovations. The construction was not mentioned when we booked which I would have thought to be worth mentioning in order to set expectations. Unfortunately the restaurant we did eat at left us both quite sick. I will spare details and just say avoid eating here! After spending a day on the property I do believe renovations are much needed... far far beyond just the restaurant. The entire property is quite run down. At the spa I booked a collagen lifting facial - the aesthetician asked a few questions and found that I was not a candidate for the treatment as I have had a metal disc replacement in my neck (the microcurrent technology for VENN required there to be no metal in between your face and where they ground you with a wet sponge in your armpit... makes sense - however... why was this not asked in advance? The aesthetician had to scramble to come up with another treatment option for the time slot that I had booked and essentially did a custom makeshift job so it was a "sort of" collagen lifting facial. This could have been avoided with due diligence. I will give credit to the aesthetician in thinking on her feet and being pleasant when another staff member put her in a predicament. The last thing that was a bit off putting on our visit was an elderly blonde lady in the Pilates room... she was working out and jumped up when we came in with a quite rude and loud "Can I help you?" - As if we interrupted her workout rather than us being guests of the property. I am a certified Yoga and Pilates instructor so wanted to show my sister a new move on the machine that I thought she would love. However when I asked about using the machines she told us "Management policy - you cannot use the machines" ...which also makes me wonder if she's the Pilates instructor? I don't know who else would try to implement fake rules that aren't posted. We chose not to cause a scene or question her so just left the bad energy. At least we got a good laugh about a crazy women on her high horse after! It seems that the great reputation that Canyon Ranch had is no longer - perhaps the MA property is different and holds this one up. Certainly not recommending the Tucson establishment to anyone anytime soon. We walked away from our spa day not only disappointed but quite sick from the food poisoning. Not recommended in the least.

The Acorns attract the Javalina's ( the hairy pig which smell atrocious) . We called the front desk to ask them to sweep the area so we could get out the front door. No response. The situation was awful and this room should not be used during the months the acorns drop. The carpet in our room was gross. Classes are great and food is pretty good but not 5 star good by any means.

This is the perfect venue for a wedding or a retreat such as the retreat that I attended. There are fountains, benches, green grass.... It is so peaceful and I felt as if I were in the mountains isolated away from the city. If I were planning a wedding, I would certainly come back to this place. The owners are gracious and very accommodating. They even have a special dressing room for the bride to be. Also, there are two kitchen areas, one for serving and the other for preparing any food items. When our retreat was over, several of us were actually invited to go back down a dirt road and look at the horse stables. One of the employees said they might be planning to provide some horseback riding adventures in the near future. You may want to call and check out all this lovely facility has to offer. In the past I have met family members who grew up on the ranch as docents, The museum still has a history of the ranch as a focus in one area and they focus on the 250 year history of the USA with an Arizona emphasis on another. Lots of dogs and some of them are quite friendly...you still have to be dog smart.. The vendors were friendly and helpful with information about their products... There is a wide variety of fresh products for sale. They have a website that lists a lot of the vendors. They have several locations around they have fresh hot food vendors, grocery food vendors,a couple of bakeries, health and wellness vendors,and artisans. It's always fun to enjoy the fresh smells from roasting chili's to pupusas, homemade burritos, Korean Barbecue, baked goods and homemade soups!
