Amazing food, service , and ambiance…read more A visit to Montreal isn't complete without a stop at Schwartz's Deli. The smoked meat sandwich absolutely lived up to the hype. The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, piled high between fresh rye bread with just the right amount of mustard. The atmosphere is classic, authentic, and full of history. Even with the line outside, the service was efficient and friendly, and the food was worth every minute of the wait. The pickle and fries were the perfect sides to complement the rich smoked meat. You can tell why this place has become a Montreal institution. Simple menu, legendary food, and an experience that feels uniquely local. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Montreal.

We walked into a space that is small, constantly packed, and built around fast turnover rather than comfort, with people lining up at the counter while orders get called out across a loud, crowded room. The energy hit us right away, and it felt more like stepping into a system that has been running the same way for decades rather than a modern restaurant experience. The smoked meat sandwich is the main reason to come here, and it delivers in a very direct, no-frills way. We ordered one and found the meat thick, heavily seasoned, and with a deep smoky flavor that came through right away. The texture stood out most, tender but still structured enough to hold its bite, especially when stacked on rye bread with mustard. It is simple in concept but feels complete in execution, with nothing on the plate trying to distract from the main item. The sides like pickles, coleslaw, and fries felt more supportive than essential. We tried the poutine and found it solid and filling, but it clearly sat in the background compared to the smoked meat sandwich. Everything on the menu seemed centered around that one item, and the rest of the food reinforced that focus rather than expanding it into a wider dining experience. Seating is communal and tightly packed, which added to the overall intensity of the place. It was common to share tables with strangers, and there was very little personal space once we sat down. The noise level stayed high the entire time, but the service was quick, so the pace of the meal kept things moving even when it felt crowded. Schwartz's Deli feels like a Montreal institution defined by its simplicity and consistency. It is not a comfortable sit-down meal, but the smoked meat sandwich is strong enough to make the entire experience worth it, especially if you are there for what it is known for rather than the setting around it.

First time eating at Reuben's. We came in from a rain storm with 2 young children. From the moment…read morewe walked in, the host, a sweet older gentleman, offered us paper towels to dry up, since we were soaken wet even with umbrellas. He seated us in the booth and got our little children settled in with coloring material. He was so gentle spoken with our children, and for that matter, the entire staff was! Our family felt welcomed and not a bother. You would be surprised at how few places make us feel this way, even though our children are calm little beings. Ok, now... to the food! When I hear brisket, I think of Texas styled BBQ, this brisket is different, this is a deli style brisket, think Reuben Sandwiches. The brisket was sliced so thin and was juicy, it was delicious! Our kids had kids meals and in their opinion, the best part was the ice cream at the end . I highly recommend eating here! The staff is friendly, the food is great and overall, just a comfortable place to be! Tip the staff well, trust me, by the time the bill arrives you will already have experienced their top notch service. I don't have pictures to share because we were hungry and ate everything up before I could remember to snap some photos!

We had the the spinach and artichoke dip to start which was really good. I had the original Reuben which was memorable with the in house smoked corned beef brisket. The pumpernickel bread was awesome as well. My wife had the smoked lox bagel sandwiches ch with the fried capers and that too was amazing. Bonus points for the Molson Export Ale on draft which was a nice change of pace from all of the craft drafts I've been having.

We needed a place open on new year's. They were close to our hotel. We ordered the chicken and pork…read moresouvlaki plates. They were fine. The meat was well cooked and tender. The potatoes were average deep fried from frozen. The rice was moist with a bland wet salad. We were glad to have ordered the extra pita. It was enjoyable with the tzatziki sauce. Cheers

Ohhh , where to start . Gave twi stars as i found part of the food ok. Nothing to say on welcoming…read more Our waitress was friendly. Ordered food , ok rigid in substitution but understandable to certain extend. Than came the food , got the smoked meat plate. Nice medium fat cuts , nice taste a tiny part of a pickle and very small portion of coleslaw , disappointing . Had also the chicken burger combo. Came with onion and relish instead of lettuce , tomato and mayonnaise. Told the waitress nothing was dine but sorry for that. My daughter enjoyed her poutine and pizza (to share) was ok for her . We also had the cheese burger combo. Came with (guess what) onion and relish. Surprise no tomato no, no pickles and without cheese. This time we insisted to be corrected had a piece of tomato in a plate with half a slice of cheese ( wait what !!! They cut the cheese square in two for a cheese burger) . Got ok onion rings instead of the fries (3$ extra) . We were really hungry so imagine our disappointment. The waitress spilled my coke (half of it) was waiting for another drink but as expected a sorry was all what i had . My younger daughter told me dad i want to a food critic so she warn other foodies about her experience . (Shes 8) . Her review: burger tasteless, onion ring oily and needed salt, pizza is good but not the best , good cheese amount and mushrooms but lack olives. Cane time to pay (at the register, handed out the total on a piece of paper , had to insist on having the actual bill ; 6$ of unexplained charges and a 2 topping (mushroom and olives) pizza charged as all dressed (ok that's how they consider it) the other charges were for a drink we didn't have and an unexplained (divers) Got a refund for the errors (after insisting) as they expected a sorry to do the trick as with the order errors). I doubt i will step up foot in that place again . Not recommended.
