We had a specific plan that was a bit "outside the box" from what the typical customer is looking for in design and foliage. Our goal was to use only unique native Wisconsin plants that came from nearby nurseries to reduce our carbon footprint, without any shrubs, bushes or evergreens. Also, wanted species that would thrive without the use of chemical fertilizers or herbicides. The representatives from the first 3 landscaping companies that came to look at the project seemed confused and unsure on what we were trying to accomplish. Then we came upon Eco Harmony! I mentioned to Mike that we love to explore the trails at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center and were going for that type of vibe. He followed up with a plan and design we loved. Aside from coming up with a design that matched our vision, what really impressed us was how Mike went out of his way to meet with us at less than convenient hours. We discussed a very large front yard undertaking with him. We wanted a "low grass" front yard concept and I explained to him some general flowers and plants I wanted involved. He put an outdoor landscaping "floor plan" together if you will. We talked things through and after some slight adjustments, we moved forward! He was great to organize and plan with. The issue is the timing of all of the plants and when they would be arriving due to the "zone" we are in. On the day of the project he and his team member arrived bright and early, discussed the plan and drawing once again to make sure we were all on the same page and got to work. Ben handled much of the getting rid of the grass and having level and even dirt. We had him bury a pipe regarding our excess water pump so that it was clean and underground and to the sidewalk. Then all of the plants were put into place and everything was covered with mulch. We even had him take out some large bushes that were in the back yard as part of the project while he was here. He was great to work with, had awesome follow up and always explained why something was happening. In his profession there obviously are some weather dependencies, so he was always good about keeping us informed if something had to slightly shift in the schedule.

This is my second project I hired Dahl's for and again I was not disappointed. Since my job was a…read moresmaller one, I made sure to get under contract before the season was on us, which meant I could be fitted in between larger jobs, and sooner than if I had waited to book them. They show up on time, ask me good questions and make sure I am happy all along the process, and they do a great job! If not for the straw laid down to help the grass seed, I would not see any signs of their work due to the cleanup they are careful about. Thank you to Steven, Nate and Brandon for their hard work and kindness all along. I had paving stones similar to my last project, so see the photos for examples. This time the work was in a different area of the yard, and it is covered up with straw so pictures don't do much good. However, trust me when I say it is quality work. I highly recommend Dahl's, but get on the schedule asap as they fill up for the season faster than you would hope.

Did get the job halfway done in a timely manner, except not done correctly. We gave explicit…read moreinstructions not to take out our mulberry tree. They did. Said they thought it was buckthorn. They did replace the tree but unfortunately it was much smaller and we will have to wait for a few years to get any fruit. They did take $100 off for us to plant it ourselves. There should have been way better communication between the owner and staff so this didn't happen in the first place. The lead landscaper that was here working with the other guys said he "didn't bring his notes". We get mistakes happen, but you should probably show up with at least your notes to a job so you know what was asked to get done. Multiple areas the grass seed did not come up, so now we are left with weeds in spots we didn't have weeds before. The crushed granite patio has bare spots where the weed barrier is coming through. It's a very thin layer of stone and obviously not compacted tightly. They told us it wouldn't shift, we wouldn't have problems. It's been 3 months since it was put in and we already have an issue. We have tried calling and emailing several times for 2 months. We did get 1 call back that said they would come out to assess but it rained that day and they never called to reschedule or come out. Since no effort has been made by Dahl's landscaping to correct any of this, we will be forced to hire someone else to finish the job having to spend more money after being charged over 10k for something to be done correctly.

This year I saw a man spraying my backyard around all my pollinators. I called and left a message that I had cancelled the prior year. I was still billed for the service and they would not budge. The lady stated although I did say I no longer wanted the service, I didn't indicate that I don't want the following year. Such a joke. It was just a back and forth. What terrible customer service. I have been a long term customer as well, had to milk the last 60 bucks out of me I guess.

He did apologize for not coming out and wanted to do it then. But there was about three feet of snow in my yard. So I said no because I didn't want no-one getting hurt on my property. So he said he'll call me in April so they can get it done. As of April 23rd I haven't heard anything. And now I'm done, I've wasted too much time waiting to get this tree done.
