My dad needed to have a patio sliding door repaired or was thinking it would be better to have it replaced because it was over 20 years old. Basically the only thing it needed was to have the screen door latch adjusted and the sliding door hardware fixed so it would close properly. It also had some minor damage on the bottom. We went to Home Depot and talked to Tom (very personable and knowledgeable). I showed him pictures of the door and he said we definitely could have it fixed as a DYI project but we wanted to check to see how much a replacement door would cost. Well, it would cost over $1400 for a new door and installation. Yikes!! So, my dad and I looked in the phone book and saw the ad for Rocky Mountain Window & Door. I called and left a voicemail and within a few hours received a call back from Chris. Explained the problem and also sent him pictures of the door/screen and he stated it was a Pella Door (a high quality double pane door) and he used to work for Pella. He stated he would be able to adjust the screen latch and fix the sliding door so it would lock but stated he wouldn't be able to fix the small damage to the bottom of the door. Were able to schedule an appointment for that following Monday between 10-11AM and Chris was very professional, punctual, friendly and is top-notch in his profession. Cost was less than $100 and my dad was very pleased with the repair. As for the bottom of the door, we are getting a handyman to fix it (very minor repair). Then the door will be as good as new and probably last 20 years longer. read more
