Then they decided to build a restaurant and make members and the marina an after thought. The privacy at the pool is gone. Now they have a lunch and dinner tables all around the outside. The bar is so small, good luck getting a drink if the restaurant is busy. The food is decent but takes forever. They used to really have a nice set up for people that joined the marina but now it's just a restaurant and the slip holders are an after thought. Management has really gone down hill with the care they used to provide. Prices go up, there's never enough parking and the bathrooms are a joke. I'd recommend any other marina in the area over this one. Just look at the reviews. All of them are for a pathetic restaurant next door but are under the marinas name. It's like no one matters that's been a long time member of the Marina. It's all about the half assed restaurant. Great place that's gone to shit

It's pretty huge. In fact, it's Maryland's largest state park. I spent 4 days here camping recently and barely scratched the surface. There are lots of hiking trails for all levels. There are numerous bike trails that are flat and easy, including the famous Torrey C. Brown rail trail that goes for about 20 miles and crosses into Pennsylvania. And there's also a fair amount of mountain bike trails that range from moderate to difficult. There are places to swim and picnic too. All of it is family friendly. Essentially, the park is the land all along both sides of the Little Gunpowder Falls River. You'll just have to see it for yourself. I can recommend Jesse's Trail and Pleasantville area loop for mountain biking; Torrey C. Brown rail trail (an all-weather trail made of crushed stone that's flat and smooth) for both hiking and biking; and Hobo Beach for a dip in the water. Parking can be challenging, so the earlier in the day, the better.

My mom, boyfriend and I brought some take-away to the park for lunch. There are several picnic tables available, on a concrete patio, overlooking the water. It was a perfect shaded spot, listening to the lapping of the water against the shore, watching a flock of geese feed in the distance on the water. During the popular season it seems that you can rent kayaks, paddle boats, and jetskis. There's usually a lifeguard and some other stuff, but we visited in mid-September and on a Wednesday, so it was quiet. My favorite thing ever though was that they have one of those mats that make it possible for wheelchair users to travel across the sand, and to the packed sand near the water. I have seen these in actual Miami, and Myrtle Beach but neither of those places actually took them seriously. The one in Coney Island was very close to the one I experienced in Middle River, the mat ends only feet from the water. If you're an able-bodied person, bless you, but you cannot understand the utmost delight in finding a place that remembers that people in wheelchairs exist, and also love to be near the water. It's absolutely wonderful to be remembered and accommodated. Loved my afternoon here. Would recommend.

We rented a home right on the Chesapeake and i couldn't find anywhere that would deliver kayaks and stand up paddle boards to me until i found Capital SUP. Kevin was terrific he drove up in a big van took out 3 beautiful clean colorful tandem kayaks and carried them far down to our dock with life jackets and paddles. We had so much fun in and out of the water with our families. ...and did I say the price was so much better than going anywhere and renting even for the day. The kayaks are already lined up at the launch point until the day is over. Go play, then after you return your rental gear, go pay. The Susquehanna River is a gentle river...the water is more like that of a bay or a lake. There are beaches and islands to explore. There are marinas and and docks so there is some traffic areas with boaters and jet-skiers, but it isn't daunting...just stick to the river bank until you're comfortable...you will be paddling in the middle of the river, soaking up the view like a pro before you even realize it! The staff is really, really nice, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend spending the day on the Susquehanna and Shank's Mare. note: the launch point is directly across the shop where there is public parking, picnic tables, docks, fishing, duck feeding, etc.

It was our first time, and our feet felt the flex, but we totally finished out an hour. The creek is lovely, we got close to Great Blue Heron and the arrowroot was in purple bloom. Options also include kayak and double kayak-decent selection. $27 for an hour of fun in the sun was a great value. There are benches but not a lot of shade, so we used an umbrella to create shade for the family elder who only wanted to watch. This was a great outing!
