Purveying phenomenal garlic-infused orange-cheddar curds at reasonable prices, this sundries station just east of Schullsburg on the road to Monroe has a great selection of southern Wisconsin fare. Claiming their own proprietary bleu (the Dunbarton Blue), and a spectral collection of other local cheese, the dairy alone is worth the visit; and yet, the sausages and other locally generated meats - specifically the cured beef-sticks that I sampled - also present an effective case for pit-stop patronization. And then there's the beer quotient: with an outstanding selection of ales and lagers from New Glarus Brewery - not to mention their own specially branded New Glarus pint-glasses - Roelli covers another important front of southern Wisconsin. A propitious find after striking out on a Sunday afternoon in downtown Schullsburg (which was utterly vacant in the post-meridiem), Roelli in fact appears to be the provenance of most of the cheese we could have found in town anyways. And - resting neither far from Dubuque or Rockford - it is, moreover, a true destination for the caseophile (though they are completely willing to ship cheese to you if you cannot commit to the drive). read more

This review is only for their signature Dunbarton blue cheese, which we just got around to trying. It's not about their business or culture or practices which I'm sure are perfectly fine. This cheese is pretty expensive at $20 for 8 oz, and unfortunately like an expensive wine, I didn't particularly like it given the price point. So my advice on this one is to know what your taste buds like. This blue cheese was quite strong in flavor being quite sharp and salty. It was the only premium Wisconsin cheese the son gifted to us that I wouldn't have again. But don't let that deter you if you're a strong blue cheese fan, this could be your cheese. It's just not mine. It was nice to give it a go nonetheless. read more

We were traveling through the area and were excited to see that this store was open on a Sunday. We were interested in buying some of their Dunbarton Blue cheese which had recently been featured on the Wisconsin episodes of Top Chef. After sampling a couple of other cheeses we bought a few other items including their cheese curds. The worker was helpful and friendly. Absolutely so glad we stopped!!! These cheese curds were/are amazing!!! I got mine fresh made that morning. The ladies working were so helpful & fun to talk with. They helped pick cheese & make suggestions. I loved the old truck out front delivering milk jugs. Inside was a nice spacious shopping area. Cheese is easily separated & easy to find. read more

As a cheese lover, I was not able to drive past this store, knowing that Wisconsin cheeses are so excellent, stopping in at a local his maker made all kinds of sense to me. I have NO regrets, although l freely admit my cardiologist would likely scold me. There were cold cases full of cheese options, as well as some sausages. Other shelves in the store included crackers, jams, and other food products. Local ice cream is also available -- I can say that the soft serve was delicious and refreshing. This was a very pleasant stop on my journey, and I absolutely would come back again, even if I had to detour to do so. read more

I stop here to get FRESH cheddar cheese curds on Fridays after noon. The store has a good variety of cheeses, beers, and pops/sodas as well as small Wisconsin souvenirs. They also sell a local honey. This last time that I went, I found that they also sell their own Root Beer by the pony keg, 1/3 keg, 1/2 keg, etc! read more
