I recently moved to Coos Bay and ended up with quite a bit of pain in my back that radiated around to my chest. One my first treatment Dr. Soard gave me significant pain relief and also adjust my locked hip and my neck. I was immediately able to have greater movement, and significantly less pain. I went back and the released my hip again and adjusted my back and neck. I am totally pain free after two treatments. Dr. Soard took the time to assess and identify issues with my spine I wasn't feeling yet. He also carefully listened to my history. I am a pretty big guy and Dr. Soard has done an excellent job. I will not let anyone else adjust at this point. Highest recommendation. I felt the amount he charges for visits is very reasonable. read more

Having never used a Chiropracter before, I was skeptical. What a positive experience. Having been told by an ER specialist and an orthopedic surgeon that there was nothing they could do to relieve some severe leg pain, Roger Soard gave me a 30 minute exam and determined it was an issue with an L5 vertebra. I have used Dr. Soard in past years, and repeatedly. I did find some relief from the treatments (thus the reason I went back) and for a time he seemed like a very nice, compassionate doc. Nice enough to converse with, and though he's quite opinionated, I find that good since most people nowadays don't seem to know exactly what they actually believe. Dr. Soard definitely has his opinions set in stone. My "bad" experience here was the billing practices. First, the doc assured me I had insurance coverage I KNEW and told him repeatedly I DID NOT have. He continued to assure me he'd "checked" and I was "just fine", leaving me to believe he'd found some miraculous way to get coverage I knew my husband's employer benefits did not have. So I let it go. So did he, and continued treating me. I asked, again and again about the bill. Each time, he told me not to worry, and it was taken care of. I paid the portions I felt responsible for along the way. About a YEAR after I had stopped treatment, I received a billing notice for all the services rendered he felt he had not been paid for. Yeah... it took almost a year before he figured out he was wrong! At that point, I felt seriously like this was a "personal business issue" if he didn't have anybody to handle billing in any more timely a fashion than he did. And... I reminded him of his comments about it being covered. At that point, I saw a different side of this guy. He got quite upset and made it to sound as if I'd intentionally ripped him off; took advantage of his services with no intention to pay my bill. It wasn't my bill. Our conversation ended with perhaps the most childish business response to a customer I've ever heard. In his frustration he says, "FINE! Then why don't you just send me a CHICKEN or something instead!" Hmmmm... not a bad idea, but I used self control and didn't oblige. Neither did I pay a year old debt he'd told me I did not owe. Still, I would have to say as far as Chiropractors go, he did seem to know his business. At least the adjusting part of it. I would not go back. Not ever. read more

Dr Soard refused to adjust me without charging the New patient fee of $150 even though I offered to have my Chiropractor in Sherwood, OR contact him regarding my history and regular adjustment acumen. Not only did he refuse, but he was an a real Jerk about it. read more

Out of bounds and bizarrely disrespectful of a patient in pain. I arrived five minutes late. The doctor came bounding out of the office saying, "I can't treat you. You are ten minutes late." I remarked that I would check my cell phone to make certain that it was correctly synchronized with the atomic clock. I was rather shocked by the fact that he said he couldn't treat me. He repeated several times, in a very loud and rude tone, that I had been late, as if being a few minutes late was a crime. I asked him to clarify what his intentions were. He later offered to reschedule me, which was a direct contradiction to his statement that he couldn't treat me. He told me to sit down, and when I remarked that I'd rather not sit because sitting was painful to me, he acted upset. As if a person who treats people in pain would not understand that for some people, sometimes, sitting can be painful. When the replacement patient that he'd scheduled into my slot walked in, the doctor, in a very unprofessional manner, turned to that patient and said, "Don't you think she's being argumentative?" I tried to remind him that he is the health professional, and I had had the intention of becoming a patient. He never gave me the opportunity to begin filling out a patient intake form. I was completely bewildered by his bizarre, disrespectful, and abusive behavior. He asked me, in a rude tone, what was bothering me and I remarked that it's complicated, something that appeared to incense him even more. When I paused for a moment to collect my thoughts, his agitation increased and he said, "If you can't explain yourself I can't treat you." As if having had multiple injuries that result in a complex set of pain symptoms is a crime. I guess it is, in his estimation, because he decided to call the police on me rather than calm himself down and do his job. What a total, amazingly unrepentant, and extremely unprofessional jerk. No patient, no matter their condition, should be treated the way that he treated me. When I checked my phone messages I found none, so although he claimed he left a message for me, there is no record of any message, or even a phone call, from him, on that day. Please also note that it is bad form for anyone to call 911 for a non-emergency situation, and this was clearly a non-emergency situation. The only person who made any threats at all during this entire incident was the doctor himself. The police, who showed up to find me waiting quietly outside, was, to my mind, very kind, professional in his manner, and appropriate. read more

I've avoided seeing Chiropractors over the years following an experience with a chiropractor in California whose treatments simply gave me no relief. At the recommendation of friends here in Coos Bay, I visited Dr. Soard. A pinched nerve in my back failed to respond to standard treatments including two epidurals that I received from my family Dr. Seeing Dr. Soard was my "last ditch" effort for relief. Following several treatments, I'm improving with each visit and so glad that I was able to avoid what many suggested; back surgery. Dr. Soard is kind, patient, and most importantly, extremely knowledgeable and professional in his approach to pain relief. He has totally changed my opinion of Chiropractic care and I highly recommend his services to anyone who is frustrated by back pain or other situations that will respond favorably to chiropractic care.
