We hired ACE HANDYMAN SERVICES SOUTH MIAMI DADE in March 2023 to remodel our guest bathroom. This was scheduled to be a 4-day job starting late May and the project remains unfinished to date. This business lures potential customers with an estimate lower than their competitors even when they know they cannot deliver at that price level. Shortly after the project commences, they start adding extra outrageous costs and expenses for materials. We are senior citizens on a fixed income experiencing medical issues and undergoing medical procedures. Because this business is so unprofessional and unreliable and we never knew if a worker was coming on a certain day, we had to cancel numerous appointments resulting in additional expenses and extreme inconvenience. We dealt with JULIAN YARA, who identified himself as the principal of the local franchise, and IVAN YARA is believed to be the Office Manager. When questioned about the additional costs during an in-person meeting at our home, Julian threatened us with litigation if we did not pay the extra amounts they were demanding. He went on to say: "I have an attorney on retainer, ready to go". This irresponsible threat reinforced our logical thinking that we are not the only dissatisfied customers this company has and that their abusive treatment and bullying are the way they conduct their business. Unfortunately, we are currently not in a financial position to incur additional costs for legal fees after spending double on this project from what we had budgeted based on their estimate. We realize that unforeseen expenses can happen, but to double their original estimate without a logical explanation shows total incompetence and/or bad faith. We strongly believe that it is both in their case. Upon the payment of additional thousands of dollars above the original estimate, they tried to cover their tracks and cut corners by doing a very sloppy job of finishing the job. Posted pictures are what they consider a finished project, it is totally beyond belief what a horrible job they did. Also including a picture of marble tiles that their workers broke due to their negligence and they refused to reimburse us. We immediately contacted both Julian and Ivan and our calls and texts were ignored for over one month. With no other recourse, we contacted their corporate office which initially gave us the run around that they had limited oversight and control over their franchises. We insisted that they looked into this case because of all their flagrant adverse actions taken and we were eventually contacted by the franchise consultant for our area. After countless hours of our time being wasted contacting them via phone and e-mail and submitting adequate documentation several times, they agreed to reimburse a small portion of our overpayment. Note that this amount does not even begin to cover what we will have to spend to have our bathroom properly finished by a reputable company. They pride themselves on customer service and standing by their work for 6 months after the completion of the project. This is beyond ironic and laughable when they cannot even stand behind their work while the project is ongoing. Many other businesses do a much better job than this joke of a company. It is mind-blogging how companies like this that do not value their customers stay in business. Consumers deserve respectful and conscientious treatment and a job well done from the businesses they hire; therefore, stay away from this business or any of its affiliates at all costs because they deliver only misrepresentations, lies, threats, and continuous unprofessional behavior. Bottom line, this was a travesty on us that we hope you share with your family and friends, so no one else makes the wrong decision and very costly mistake of hiring ACE HANDYMAN SERVICE
