For an additional 70 dollars(that I thought was a bargain) they built it, delivered it and placed it in my den for me a few hours later. How can it get better than that? It can't! Day four of our road trip to San Diego, stop 2…read more Arriving in Van Buren, Arkansas to visit my grandma for a few days, Sarah and I were sure to find ways to spend our time getting out instead of just sitting around and looking at dusty photo albums. As soon as we arrived at the cute little two bedroom condo that my grandma has lived in since the move from the farm, I opened the Southwest Times Record to find a listing of what to do over this cold weekend. What caught my eye was a long list of band notices. There were bands playing at churches, at bars, and a few Opry houses around the area. So I took a shot in the dark and that's how we found the Muldrow Opry in Muldrow, OK. This is a converted cinder-blocked and white washed retail space, situated next to a florist, and across from the corner gas station. Blink and you'll miss it, as the sign is handwritten and posted right by the highway marker. Music is advertised as being performed between 7 and 10 in the evening, and we showed around 7:30, fashionably late for us Yankees. Expecting the band to just be starting, we found them already in full swing. We signed the register, bought some raffle tickets, and declined the food buffet of pulled pork and hot dogs with all the fixin's. A cup of coffee for grandma though, we took them up on that. The Muldrow Opry made our day, and I think made my grandma's year. She was near to singing along with every song, and her feet were tapping tapping to the beat. It wasn't long before she picked her favorite performer, the man who looked most like her late husband in the green shirt playing the slide guitar. We had to leave before the first raffle, and were saddened that we were giving up on the chance at some sweet prizes like: a two liter of A&W Root Beer, a hand knit teal hat, wood carved horse, a pair of gloves, some watercolor, and other grand prizes. Love the Opry! Tip: call ahead and they might let you sing your favorite bluegrass, gospel or classic country song... so long as they know the tune, and chances are, they do.

This grocery store is tidy, well stocked and has a great variety of just about everything I wanted that will last me not just tonight and tomorrow morning in the RV but the next couple of days as I head through Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma. Parking lot was clean of trash, the store was decently lit and the shelves were nicely leveled. Prices looked to be quite moderate. I used the self-checkout today and it worked fine. We'd found a decent size to suit our needs but hadn't purchased it yet. I'm glad we didn't as we passed this place today. We stopped in and saw the great quality of these storage sheds that work out to only about $1000 more and was actually bigger. They offer free set up and delivery. We found what we wanted and called back to order over the phone. They made it very easy to pick it out and choose our colors. In all, it was about 25 minutes. We paid for it in full and it will be delivered in 2-4 weeks. I've added a few pics of a few different types they offer as well as the catalog pages. They are really quite nice. We walked into the store and immediately felt that we were old friends with the owner and her crew. Jami is so friendly, and is so excited about her store and all of it's goodies. Along with Kitchen/Cooking items, there's a bakery, a gourmet foods area, a refrigerator/freezer with take and bake foods, and home décor. We are not from Ft. Smith, so we took a card and plan to shop online for gifts when we need them.
