Plenty of parking , places to sit, and shade. I think the park needs fixing up as some of the items are damaged so that's a safety concern. Some of the play structure like the swinging monkey bars and the one where you hang on a glide across is too tall for children to reach. It would be great if it was lowered to the children could reach it. It was an okay park.

Instead I get to the exit gate and find out they locked me inside. Called the police non emergency line to see how I can get out.. I had 3 of my dogs with me and it was already dark outside at this time. Police were helpful and got a hold of the employee working at the park. She came to the gate to open it but demanded $50 in cash before letting me out. I didn't have any cash so I offered it via Venmo or Debit and she refused and demanded cash. She let me out as a one time courtesy after pleading with her that I didn't have $50 on me. Are we really endangering people who visit a park to let their dogs play so you can extort them for money after locking them inside?

We showed up at around 1 PM on Sunday, August 23rd, but little did I realize that this park was located in a pretty nice little community. The park was empty when we first showed up so we had the whole place to ourselves. The teenage boys had a great time playing basketball while the younger kids played on the playground. My brother-in-law brought a kid's archery set to let the kids shoot and the open space was perfect for it. A few people showed up a little later and the place didn't feel as empty anymore. The park is very nice and clean. The bathrooms were open, even though there were caution tapes on the playground, which people had already ripped off. It was surprisingly clean for a public park restroom.

The brick & mortar bathrooms are usually clean-ish. There's always space in the parking lot. They have a concrete ping-pong table, and sometimes people leave paddles and balls to use. I've never seen it patrolled by police, but it feels family friendly without a lot of riffraff hanging about. We enjoy coming here. :)

This is a pretty new park even though it's been open a few years but I would say it's a better park…read morethan any other Lathrop park. It's near an elementary school but not as close with a whole grass field between. The pathway that's between the school and park is wide and shady, filled with places to sit, workout and eat. There is a restroom at the park and on the Slate Street side closer to the school. The water splash pads runs continuously during the day in the summer because the water is recycled and filtered. They have city workers that check up the area regularly. I see them in the mornings when I go for a walk sometimes. They added a new pergola type area next to the tennis courts. More tables to enjoy and a bbq pit I believe The parking is pretty much street parking but it seems that a lot of the visitors are from the area so they most likely walk to it. Ice cream trucks, well vans come by and sometimes the school would invite Kona Ice usually on Wednesdays sometimes. Kona would usually be on the Slate Street side FYI

Please spray there a bit more if possible city of Merced. The water fountain is a minus in my book. Overall: Great park - much better than some "other" parks in Merced.

I will say that when we pull dad to reserve our spot there are a few homeless people that called this area their home but they did not bother anyone during the duration of the park being utilized. Was definitely well visited by many families and their kids this past weekend. They do not have a common area grill so you would need to bring your own. There are public restrooms for the most part was semi-clean. Overall the appearance of the park was well-kept.
