A lovely park with a lot to offer!…read more The Dry Creek Trail runs through many parks along the Dry Creek in Modesto. There are miles of trails, both paved and unpaved, where you can stroll, run, and bike. It is very dog friendly too! There are some very nice fenced-in tennis courts, playgrounds, and picnic tables which make for fun for the whole family. If you are into disc golf, there is a huge course throughout the park. Some of the baskets are placed right on the creek's edge, so you have to make sure you have good aim! There are some pretty bridges that overlook the creek and make for gorgeous photos when the leaves turn in fall. At the trailhead at East La Loma Park, there is a large parking lot with parking along the leading road. Even though there is plenty of light along the trail, I would avoid coming by after dark because the area can attract some homeless people. Regardless, this is a great park and community asset!

Paid reservation required by Host: NAMI Stanislaus of California I volunteer @NAMI Stanislaus and have for over 5 straight years now helping to provide amenities and access to resources. Annually, we host our BBQ in the Park & invite people who are on our non-obligation monthly "What's Happening, Electronic Newsletter!" & it is also open to the public. The essential element in gaining access is to RSVP to Dar by the deadline for doing so. At this event, the park was primarily ours except for what appeared to be several "gang members" floating and sitting close enough to hear us speak. Gangs are never, ever invited to our gatherings. Just making that crystalline clear. We are a peaceful lot yet perfectly capable of representing @peace not war. This past year of 2023 we made the difficult decision to 'cancel' this same annual BBQ due unfortunately to a lack of interest from the public. I'm sorry to anyone who looks-forward to this event; we too were very disappointed. Maybe 2024 will shine like the bright light it is. In closing, I'd NOT visit this park in the late afternoon &/or night because the undesirable GANG members seem to lurk. Beautiful scenery and cameras everywhere for safety purposes. Now up top they have 9 BEAUTIFULLY kept soccer fields, with lots of games and fun being had. There are a couple playgrounds for the kiddos and a really nice ate for parties and gatherings! Plenty of parking and again really nicely kept bathrooms to use. I highly encourage you to get your family and pack a lunch to come out and enjoy this park. Both upper and lower levels! Plenty of parking to access the walikg trails. Also it's close to the airport so you get to see some cool planes overhead that are lower altitude

Bathrooms are decent. (Except the hand dryer in front of the bathroom stall so when the door opens,you get smacked in the hand). However...this large soccer complex is in the middle of a residential neighborhood so it's not easy to find. Then when you do find it, its split in two! If your game is on the other side, you cant drive to the other parking lot side. You literally have to go back to the main street a block down, go around the school (or community center) and back through the residential area. Whose bonehead idea was that?! Additionally,the parking spaces are tiny. Everyone knows soccer moms drive the pick ups and SUVs. Why would you do this to us? The parking lot was so frustrating that several other parents and I gave up and parked on the street and just walked in. During the games, random honking and hollers could be heard from other people trying to park and maneuver in this horrible parking lot. Good luck folks!

We found this park on Alltrails as a 4 mile hike near the waterway that was dog friendly and…read moredecided to give it a try. When you arrive there is a large parking area but there were a few interesting characters hanging around. After walking out to the viewing area to look at the water, I saw a city crew come in to the parking lot and start taking their lunch so I felt safe enough leaving my car while I tried some of the hike. I started down the stairs and realized my dog was moving slow. On closer examination, the stairs are made with metal sticking out, probably to deter wild animals but regardless, it was cutting my dogs paw pad. I carried her down the stairs and the first thing I saw was a clowder of feral cats gathered around a huge pile of cat food someone had dumped on the trail. We walked for a bit but the high grasses concerned me and I was worried about ticks so we headed down towards the water. It was nice and I would recommend bringing a folding chair and sitting by the water far more than I would recommend the trail itself. I wasn't really feeling it and we headed back up. The trip up the stairs carrying my dog was a little daunting but good for me I'm sure. The bathrooms at this park were really disgusting and I probably wouldn't come back here but try as I might I couldn't find any other reviews of information so I wanted to add it to yelp to help others in the future.

I was greeted warmly and our NAMI Stanislaus reservation area was nice and clean and set in the lawn versus concrete which I especially appreciated and still do. I was asked to appear in a "volunteer capacity" I believe it was, on this day alone with NAMI's garb and literature and I felt safe for a change, with the plentiful law-enforcement that was present and helpful in directing me & others to where we needed to be. It was a clean, fun, SAFE, and entertaining public event. I stayed for the majority of the event and was able to answer honestly, some great questions from people. People helped themselves to our NAMI Stanislaus garb and the kids seemed to enjoy me explaining the many ways NAMI Stanislaus is available to assist them with mental health information and information on a whole. I was welcomed so many times I really did feel at peace on this day and I felt our non-profit local Modesto business was welcomed. Great Event for Helping kids and the masses! JUST A NOTE: NAMI The National Alliance on Mental Illness has relocated our brick-and-mortar office, which keeps regular weekly hours of operation, where you can be assisted by a real mental health expert, with lived experience not a locked door all the time.
