When we arrived at Venture, I was amazed by the cool and quirky images that were on the walls all around us; images of fun, laughter and not a forced smile in sight. My parents, my sister and I were all shown into the studio, where a really cool photographer in jeans and a scruffy tshirt came in to chat with us. She told us to relax and enjoy ourselves, as we were about to have a photo shoot. This was like no photo shoot I had ever imagined. Before long, she had us jumping up and down, running around, pulling silly poses and at one point we were even bounding around on space hoppers. It was so much fun to be messing around and having fun with my family and better still, for it to be captured in an honest family photo. We were invited back several weeks later for a screening, where we sat on a comfortable couch and were shown all of the pictures that had been taken. They made us laugh and cringe and we were able to select which pictures we would like to have printed for our final purchase. We settled on a black and white Abbey Road style image that suited us perfectly and we returned home happy in the knowledge that we had a family picture we could be proud of.

They have lots of photos to check out on their website which reassured me that these were the people for me. We had a meeting with them in their house/studio in the Finnieston/Charing Cross area. They are a really nice pair who are friendly and easy to talk to, and we spent about 30 minutes talking over what Graeme and I wanted, and what they did. We booked them for our wedding not long after that, and paid a deposit to confirm the booking. We had another meeting before the wedding to run through the plan for the day, and then changed it the day before because the weather was going to be lovely. They were so easy to deal with about the changes that we didn't have to worry at all. On the day, they were amazing to deal with - professional, friendly and happy and they just got on with what they were doing without any bother to us. We had a small period for set photos we wanted with guests etc, and they were great at rounding everyone up. We got a link to the online gallery of our photos about 2 weeks after the wedding so we could order the ones we liked - it was really simple and straightforward. I can't remember how long it took to get the disc of photos (we went for a DVD only option rather than getting prints) but it was nicely presented in a black folder for us to keep. Our package was for 8 hours of photography with the DVD of photos and cost £950 - I've had a look on their website, and this is still their current price for that package. I really enjoyed having Alicja and Michael as our wedding photographers and couldn't recommend them highly enough.

They cost about £18 for 2 prints, and a small nominal charge for additional prints. Although this may seem pricey, in terms of a US visa application it's worth covering all of your bases, making sure your pictures are taken to the correct requirements, and avoid having to re-apply or re-send documents you've spend hours pouring over. They are very familiar with the procedure and requirements, which is a total bonus. The staff are friendly and quick, and willing to fit appointment times around your schedule. The photographer himself was very chatty and showed me the pictures on the camera before we finished up. If they are able to make prints on the same day they will do so, and call you to let you know they are ready for pick-up. I've always had a good experience with Venart and will continue my loyal custom with them.

Having recently welcomed Harris into our lives I was keen to get professional photos to mark the start of family life. When I saw opening for Autumn weekend sessions at a great price I messaged Angela to secure a spot. Communication was prompt and answered all my queries. Nothing I hate more than when someone doesn't read my query properly and gives a half hearted answer. We agreed a date and I made a secure payment via bank transfer. Angela's communications were friendly and professional which built confidence for us. Her work really does speak for itself when you see the pics on her Facebook page. I especially love the fact that the images are yours to use once she's edited. In October, particularly in Scotland, the weather tends to be wet. Angela suggested venues/locations and also pointed out to consider weather. We eventually decided on the Winter Gardens in the People's Palace at Glasgow Green. It's indoors but with a beautiful backdrop for our first family photos. Angela arrived on time and we had a chat to get to know each other. She talked us through what we could do and also let us decide what we wanted. She was great with baby boy and we just felt so at ease with her. She came with a suitcase prop so that we could get shots of Harris on his own. She wasn't shy about getting into any angle or position so that she got the perfect shot. Her instructions were great and she got us to pose without it feeling too staged. To complicate matters we had also arranged to meet up with Harris' little cousins and aunt so that we could also spend the afternoon together. Angela was more than happy to incorporate them and took it in her stride. The session lasted about 2 hours and it just flew by. Her lovely manner and professionalism meant we got the images we wanted. She listened to us and worked with us to ensure we were happy. At the end of the session Angela set out a timescale for receiving the photos (3 weeks which is more than reasonable). She also asked permission to preview images on Facebook. I love the fact she didn't presume she could share and asked first. If you're looking for someone to capture those precious moments and little details then Grace Rose Photography is for you.
