Casually known as the Potato Restaurant, the potato is king here. The potato and garlic soup is a must have for the first course. Then save room. The main servings are LARGE. I highly recommend the Schweinshaxe, a German dish, which is a roasted ham hock or "pork knuckle". The ham hock is the end of the pig's leg, just above the ankle and below the meaty ham part. It was blue-collar and poor peoples' food so it is a cheap cut that is cooked for a long time. It is one of the 2 best I have ever had. They speak English and other languages in this casual place. If you go during tourist season it can be packed. If you are not used to German food, then you may want to steer away from the sauerkraut casseroles as the sauerkraut is delicious, but quite strong. This is not the type of place for a fast-food lover.
