Wow, this place was great. I love a bit of italian food, especially when its this good.
The place was busy, always a good sign. Managed to get a table at the far end of the restaurant beside the bar. I've been to plenty of italian restaurants in my time and I can honestly say this was the best meal I've had in any of them.
To start I had the bruschetta. The portion was huge. Nicely warm, good quality bread and tomato. But it also had lots of garlic, which I wasn't expecting. It was sublime.
For the main I had the penne arrabiata. It was good and spicy, and creamier that most arrabiata that I've had elsewhere. There was also some red onion mixed in which was unusual but worked really well. I actually asked to get it with some chicken in it but they forgot to add it. In the end it didn't need the chicken and I was barely able to finish the portion on the plate.
The only disappointment was the tiramisu for dessert. Again the portion was large but I've had a lot better. It didn't really take too much away from the overall experience though.
The atmosphere was very relaxed with a good mixture of couples and a few large groups. As is customary in a good italian, we were offered a shot of lemon-cello after the meal.
Will definitely be back again if in Amsterdam. read more
