The location is right off of 575 between Cumming Highway and Brown Industrial Parkway. Nearby businesses includes, GA department of Driver's Licence, Must Ministries and Cherokee County Juvenile Court. The library has a capacity of 110 people and is one of the larger libraries in the area. Only Pickens and Woodstock locations are larger. Some of the features includes over a dozen public computers for patrons with a current library card or a guest pass. They also have several tablets and laptops that you can sign out for in library use. Free wifi is also available. Just ask a librarian for the current password. One of the unique feature at this library that I've not seen in the other libraries is their jigsaw puzzle collection. They have a whole wall of puzzles that you can check out like you would a book that you might like to read. It's a great a idea for developing and sharpening one's cognitive skills. Located in a lovely neighborhood with not much traffic, there are many pretty houses to gaze at during the drive :) Although smaller compared to it's sister branches, the really helpful staff have done their best to keep it organized. Very clean, well-maintained and books always kept in order, this has become my go-to library for quick checkouts, although I live much closer to the Alpharetta location. (Alpharetta library can get understaffed that's why :) ) Parking lot is huge with plenty of benches and wheelchair accessible spots. You gotta take a picture with the horsey if you're visiting this library!

I was pleased to discover my 2nd Bench By The Road after recently (and quite accidentally) finding my first one on Hilton Head Island inside Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park. SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS SITE To commemorate the role of African-Americans in building the historic W&A railroad and the Carterville Train Depot. Starting in the 1840's, enslaved men, women, and children toiled in the construction of the railroad and the depot. After the Civil War, African-American convict lease laborers repaired and expanded the tracks. During the GREAT MIGRATION, these same railroads provided the first steps to freedom for blacks in Cartersville who were seeking a better way of life in the north and the west. Throughout the South, rail lines and the train depots that facilitated their use are important sites of memory in African-American history, as they document the labor of those who were enslaved and the pathways of freedom & return for their descendants. [quoted from plaque below bench] *** The Bench by the Road Project is a memorial history and community outreach initiative of the Toni Morrison Society. The Project was launched on February 18, 2006, on the occasion of Toni Morrison's 75th Birthday. The name "Bench by the Road" is taken from Morrison's remarks in a 1989 interview with World Magazine where she spoke of the absences of historical markers that help remember the lives of Africans who were enslaved and of how her fifth novel, Beloved, served this symbolic role: "There is no place you or I can go, to think about or not think about, to summon the presences of, or recollect the absences of slaves . . . There is no suitable memorial, or plaque, or wreath, or wall, or park, or skyscraper lobby. There's no 300-foot tower, there's no small bench by the road. There is not even a tree scored, an initial that I can visit or you can visit in Charleston or Savannah or New York or Providence or better still on the banks of the Mississippi. And because such a place doesn't exist . . . the book had to". This "library" has a grand total of 16 computers spread out…read moreover two buildings (out of three!) that you can only use for two hours at a time and have to make reservations for in advance. 8 of them are reserved solely for printing posters. We're talking about a library that is supposed to accommodate MULTIPLE UNIVERSITIES! Worse, there are NO books! It's a nice study space, but who in their right mind would call it a library?

I've been doing some market research on how to start a business and the library is a one stop shop for all of my needs. The building is bright, airy, and spotless--with large windows that let in lots of natural light and plenty of comfy seating around . There's a great children's section with learning toys, a clean and welcoming teen/young adult room, plus a dedicated makerspace and a fully stocked computer training lab. I even brought my daughter and granddaughter here and they actually learned a lot and had fun. Plenty of study rooms--perfect for group work or meeting quietly--are available, and the outdoor plaza is a great spot for programs or just chilling with a book. Free Wi‑Fi, public computers, printing, scanning, and copier services make it super convenient whether you're a student, a freelancer, or just wanting to browse. What really stands out is the staff--they're welcoming, knowledgeable, and always ready to help. Shot out to Sarah, Alice, Alecia and the entire team over there. Whether you need tech assistance, program info, or a book recommendation, someone's there to answer your questions. I didn't feel intimidated at all when asking questions. Tons of parking outside. They also have a beautiful garden outside! I loved walking through it and seeing what they were growing (blueberries, sunflowers, jalapeños). They have tons of events going on here including a play cafe for toddlers on Tuesdays, Wednesday's and Thursday. We just moved to Georgia and couldn't wait to locate the closest library and sign up for library cards. The librarian who assisted us was wonderful! So so sweet and helpful. She even helped us get registered to vote. She explained all that we could do at the library and how many books (50) we could check out at a time. The kid's area of the library had a huge selection of fun books to choose from and also had an area of toys for my daughter to play with. I loved that they had a "chill out" room where you could nurse your baby, change a diaper, or have some quiet time if needed. Very cool. It's directly located across from North Cobb High School so I can imagine it might get busy during the school year once school lets out. 10/10 recommend this beautiful library.

I'm not an Emory student, however the universities in Georgia have all agreed to make their libraries accessible to all college students in rolled in Georgia. So if you get distracted at your own college library because you run into everyone you know ever and instead of hard core studying, you end up ordering pizza and sneaking in beers to party in the upper halls (not me of course), I suggest you study at Emory's library. Just call the front desk to find out the hours available for visitors and to ask about parking - you don't want a $50 dollar parking ticket. My favorite room is silent hall on the second floor. It is filled with those big wooden tables with green hooded lamps attached in the middle and large comfy chairs. No whispering allowed.

Never judge a book by a cover they say, I'll add never judge a font by its size! I came here to do some research for some feature films I'm comprising and I was totally enraptured with the grandiose collection. The music & media library is outstanding and a wonderful resource. The staff is nice, and helpful, and kind and helping me feel that I'm not a spaz for my large print love. I even explained the virtues of the large font way and I think I may have converted a couple more followers. Or maybe they were just bein' Southern and nice.
