There's also great lounge and seating nooks. I think there's even more downstairs. I'm not super familiar with the LeBron James Foundation's work in Akron, but this space feels like a great gathering spot for the community.

I came back and got the Tote, it rang up at $18 this time with tax and asked if I wanted to add a tip. I said No and continued my purchase. When I got home, I looked at the receipt and saw not only was the Tote a dollar more, but a $3.60 tip was added after I said No. I like the Tote but I do not like being ripped off.

However, I think I would still give it 5 stars for the cleanliness of the place and the politeness of MOST volunteers and workers there. When I was shopping for a doggo, their website was clear, easy to use, and brought me in to look at the animals that they had there, which I really appreciated because a lot of other animal shelters don't have great websites. I went to go meet dogs around 630 on a Thursday and it wasn't busy at all - the volunteers were extremely helpful in showing me dogs after my boyfriend and I talked about what we were looking for and our apartment restriction of 30lb. She showed us the PERFECT dog - and we ended up signing the adoption papers for her that night. Almost everyone that I interacted with there was kind, helpful, and caring. However, we almost didn't get to take the dog home the next day due to a miscommunication, a misunderstanding, and a single careless worker. This doesn't bother me that much, because after 7-8 phone calls fixing the worker's mistake, we ended up taking the dog home the next day. The dog is fixed by them, and the adoption price includes a microchipped dog. You just have to leave with a dog license, the food they're on, and a collar/leash. You can bring your own collar and leash and don't have to buy one there. I will say, if you're seriously looking at rescuing a dog, don't go on a night where they get new puppies because it is a NIGHTMARE with the amount of people there, and the workers and volunteers are tied up with that. They post on Facebook when they have new animals, so I'd give them a follow there. All in all, I would recommend this place to anyone looking to rescue a new forever friend! They do great work and have lots of sweet animals looking for homes!

There were a lot more people involved (about 75 people), which made things a bit confusing and hectic. I felt as though the Akron-Canton Foodbank floor coordinators were quite rude when you asked them questions of where certain frozen foods/meats should go. It was like they were yelling at you for not knowing which cardboard box the item should be sorted in. I was just trying to help and not put the item in the wrong box. I felt productive after 3 hours of volunteering, but the in person interaction was not as expected.

Truth be told, I wish I had more detailed information about Akron Makerspace, because the space here is truly awesome. I found out about it at Ingenuity Fest 2017, where I learned that they offer both classes and open houses for "makers" or wannabe makers. I sort of stored it in the back of my mind, and decided to try it out around my boyfriend's birthday. I signed us up for a CNC cutting class for about $50/person. If you aren't familiar with CNC cutting, it's basically a very high level computer program that allows you to engrave wood or metal in a very detailed fashion (sorry if there are any nerds out there that are screaming at the computer saying "NO, NO, it's so much more than that!). Truthfully, CNC is much more than that, but Akron Makerspace seeks to condense what would normally be a 6 week course into a few hours so you can go home with something you made. Pretty awesome huh? Lest you be deterred thinking, computer programming? That doesn't sound like me... They have a TON of other stuff here! I'd tell you to check out their website, but really, that wouldn't even tell you all the stuff they have here. The best way is to just drop in and see what it's all about. They do offer open houses weekly where folks can just drop in to check it out, or get help from the expert makers on a project they are working on. Some examples are: welding, vinyl cutting, jewelry and stamp making, robotics, wood carving... the list goes on and on. Basically, if there's something you want to make and you just aren't sure where to start, THIS is the place. They do offer memberships for $35/month which can get you open access to the space (you get a fancy key and everything) and access to all their equipment, as well as a storage space for your projects. I do think the classes are a fun way to get your foot in the door, as they have several different ones (there's a calendar on their website). I'm told that they are planning on collaborating with some local restaurants to do some date night offerings, which I think would be awesome. All in all, this place is definitely worth a visit, and creative people will love how much they have to offer!
