The people working there are friendly and helpful, although it seems to be a bit understaffed. The Fairlawn Salvation Army thrift store used to be one of my favorites, then they eliminated some of the discount colors and then went to a system with most of the clothes being priced according to what they are, i.e. pants and shirts are $4.99 and there is one color that is half price (although on Wednesdays everything except one color are half price). On my most recent visit they have backtracked a bit so that most of the brick a brack and shoes are individually priced. There are still some good values, however the selection seems to be not as good and it can be confusing what certain things cost. The advantage of the current system is that if you find a high quality piece of clothing you do get it for a good price. The non-clothing selection has definitely decreased, the selection is limited and there are not a lot of interesting items. In the past I have found some really nice items, but now it seems like most of the stuff is nothing really special. Overall a pretty good thrift store, but not worth a trip just for thus store.

Medina Goodwill Review…read more Medina Goodwill is always a delight to visit! The store is consistently full of merchandise, well-lit, and easy to navigate. Parking is convenient up the hill, and once you get the hang of the traffic flow, getting in and out is simple. As an art junk journaler who creates handmade books and Bible devotionals, this has become one of my favorite places for inspiration. I always find unique art supplies, craft materials, and new ideas. Their book section is huge--I rarely leave without a handful of great finds for just a few dollars. One day, I even stopped in when all the children's books were free! I also keep an eye out for storage containers and baskets, and I can almost always find one or two perfect pieces. They offer a small rewards system linked to your phone number, which is a nice bonus. What truly adds to the experience is the staff. The employees--many of them young--are always friendly, patient, and consistently kind in every interaction. They're quick to offer assistance and make the shopping experience even better. My favorite part of the store is the craft area--everything is color-coded, making it incredibly easy to browse. They also set up seasonal holiday sections, which I love. Beyond that, the store carries clothing for all ages, tools, wall art, and an ever-changing variety of furnishings and home goods. Always organized, always stocked, and always a winner in my book!

The shop is medium sized, nowhere near some of the big stores, but what you will find is really high quality items at a great price. The Discovery Shop has a nice if not huge selection of clothes, they have just recently expanded the men's area in the back to allow for more variety. Most of the items are high end and usually very current. Where the Discovery Shop really shines is the selection of art, decor and interesting items. It seems that they get more upscale donations then most thrift stores, plus they are raising money for a great cause. Other items include books, media, all kinds of kitchenware, plates, glasses and jewelry. Prices are reasonable, what makes it even better is that they have a 50% discount color every week and the last weekend of each month the entire store is 50% off. Over the years I have found some really nice sports coats and a number of carved wood items at the Discovery Shop. Well worth a stop to check out if you are looking for some great items at good prices, plus it is great to support the American Cancer Society. I also want to shout out the volunteers at the Discovery Shop, they are always friendly and helpful and the store is well set up, organized and attractive.

Because of the location this store gets higher quality donations, and higher end items. The store has two colors each week, one color is half off, the other is 75% off. The store is organized with 2 levels of clothing, I have found a number of nice shirts and suit jackets here including a really cool Las Vegas themed jacket that was virtually new. I also find interesting art and decor pieces at this store. The back half of the store has the art, kitchen ware, electronics, toys, sporting goods and other assorted stuff. It is also well worth your time to check out the glass counters with the jewelry and the higher end items on the shelves behind them; this is where you can find some of the really premium finds. Looking at some of the other Yelp reviews it seems that since the VOA moved from down the road some people are disappointed since the current store is generally more expensive, but for me it seems that there is still really good value here, the question is whether you want to pay a bit more for better purchases. I really like this thrift store, one of the best looking, best organized stores with great values, you just might not find really cheap stuff.
