On a one day mini vacation we stumbled upon this amazing farm. Upon arrival the front desk was extremely kind, helpful and just a joy to be around. She asked if this was our first time here and we let her know it was. She walked through all of the events/activities with a smile on her face the entire time. Throughout our day the staff was exceptional! Our son got to pet many animals, try a warm homemade candy cane, sip on delicious hot coco, wrote a letter to Santa Claus and so much more. The farm animal encounters were very clean and maintained. We were absolutely blown away by this attraction and will be returning anytime we are near. Highly recommended for children and adults of all ages. Side note: bring a dime for the ride inside!

If you're a first time visitor, I highly recommend going through both the "Safari" and the main…read morefarm. For the drive thru safari, they have a variety of animals, from Alpacas to bears to camels to giraffes. You can purchase a bucket of feed for $9, but make sure you hold on to the bucket tight, because all of the animals are super strong! We ended up losing one of our buckets to the deer, haha! In the main farm area, they have some really cool play structures and tunnels that go underground and above ground. The kids had a blast crawling all over the place. Our favorites were the bird exhibit and the bear exhibit. The birds are not afraid of humans and will flock to you as soon as you enter their area. Im the bear section, we got to see the two brown bear brothers wrestle and "fight" over who got to sit in the pool. The brown bears were very interactive and would run with the children along the fence, back and forth. The biggest hit for our kids was the corn kernel area. It's essentially a giant pit filled with dried corn kernels. Our kids played in there for a good hour and didn't want to leave! It's also a great place to relax and cool down out of the heat. They have a bunch of animals that you can pet and hold if interested. For us, the safari was a great one time experience and likely wouldn't be something that we would drive through again, but the main play area is where we will definitely be going back to time and time again!

Visiting the Russell Blueberry Farm is quite the experience. I'd like to note that if we're…read morestrictly speaking blueberries and books, this is a home run. First things first... the blueberries! These are phenomenal and I have nothing poor to say about them. We opted to pick our own ($2.90/lb) and came away with some beautiful blueberries of a couple different varieties. Picking was not very labor intensive, and there was plenty to pick from. It made for a lovely day date and would be great for kids. They also sell frozen blueberries as well as different baked goods and ice cream. Next... the books! I'm a big ole book nerd, and get that tingly feeling whenever I step into an eclectic bookstore; especially one like this that is an old barn. It's organized into genres, but beyond that you're more or less on a scavenger hunt. Some people may hate that, but I find it part of the charm and I always end up finding some gems and discovering new authors. Take note that the books are a bit dated, but some newer ones can be found. Lastly... the employees, which is really what makes the "experience". I'd like to start by saying that the wife, daughter, and friend were friendly and gracious; nothing out of the ordinary. The gentleman owner however, is a very unique breed. He's chatty - which isn't too abnormal - but the things that he talks about are a bit far-fetched and sometimes bordering on inappropriate. As I was book hunting my poor husband was trapped in a 45-minute conversation with him about lord knows what. He wanted to look at books too, so it was unfortunate he didn't get the chance (as soon as we paid we high-tailed it out of there to avoid further conversation). I almost went to find the daughter to help us escape. It's a little heartbreaking that this is the case, as the gentleman does clearly have good intentions, but making customers uncomfortable is not good for business. I'm not sure how I would handle this situation if I were the family members.... I wish them luck!
