Well, my fears were unfounded because there is plenty of free street parking all around. The signage is lacking though, so I'd be lying if I didn't say that I did worry a little about walking out to see a ticket on my car (but there wasn't one :)). Also, it's in an industrial area so it felt kinda sketch (dimly lit) walking to my car alone that night (ended up having a friend drop me off at my car - safety first ladies!) As for the actual venue, I think it definitely has a lot of potential. It's not a place whose beauty just commanded my attention as i entered, but what it is, is a blank canvas that you can shape into whatever you desire. The bartenders were INCREDIBLE, although I'm not certain if they were with 1520 or independent. Again, I was just a wedding guest. The coat check attendants were very kind as well. Overall, I really enjoyed the wedding and I would certainly consider having a special event here. read more

In August I had my wedding reception on the 15th of 2015 at 1520. (cool play on #s, huh?) There were several things that set this place apart from the other Chicago Loft Type venues we visited 1) It's a clean, white, blank canvas with up lights included in the price. The up light colors can be changed to whatever you want. 2) The entrance foyer is huge & inviting with a beautiful staircase that leads to a gorgeous bar. 3) It had a spacious bridal suite with its own private washroom 4) We could pick our own vendors (we ended going with one on their preferred list) AND we could buy our own alcohol 5) Celeste was awesome to work with. The whole process was smooth leading up the big day but of course there was a minor scare a month before. An acquaintance had a wedding at Room 1520 in July and according to him & his guests, the temperature inside the venue was hot. Apparently one of the two air conditioners broke. After hearing this I emailed Celeste right away with my concern. Not only did they fix the broken AC, they added two new ones and extra vents in the ducts. All this was done well before my wedding day which gave me peace of mind and one last thing to worry about. Thank goodness! I LOVED this venue and so did all our guests. [We only had our reception at Room 1520 because our wedding was held at a church. The church service ended by 3:20pm and the earliest we could have the guests enter the venue was 5pm. So if you're like us, and want to offer your guests a place to 'hang out' in-between church and reception, talk to the owner of Cobra Lounge (located a block away). Ashley made everything so easy & graciously allowed us to set up the day before & pick up our decor the day after. The bar & bridal suite are beautiful. Since it was winter, we did not get to use the patio. We did however, use the rooftop for photos. It was still a beautiful view even though a new building now blocks the skyline view. We had our October 2017 wedding at Room 1520 and couldn't be happier with how everything went. From the outside its very unassuming (being located in the middle of an industrial neighborhood and all), but the inside is stunning. My now-husband and I knew we wanted a venue that was modern and urban, was unique to Chicago, was located in a quiet area, would let us use whatever vendors we wanted, and was more or less a blank slate for us to decorate as we like, and Room 1520 checked all of those boxes, and more. The built-in bar, huge bridal suite, and rooftop for photos just sealed the deal for us to choose them (it wasn't their fault it poured literally all day on our wedding day so we didn't really get to take advantage of the rooftop!). Celeste was a dream to work with from our first visit to the big day. She was very quick to answer any questions I sent her way, and was very accommodating of letting us come see the space again whenever we needed to while we were planning. On the day of the wedding she was there early to help direct vendors and even sneakily took a cell phone video of our first look from the back of the room, which she sent me after the wedding, which was a very sweet gesture that we didn't expect. Room 1520 perfectly suited our minimalist, no-fuss style. The crystal chandeliers and colored uplighting on the white pillars added just the right touch of elegance without being too ornate, and we added some simple string lights and candles to complete the decor. Many of our guests told us how "gorgeous" and "perfect" the space was and we were like, "we know!" There is free street parking all around, which is awesome. Parking in the area can be a bit tricky when coming to visit on weekdays, but on the weekends it's wide open, so our guests who chose to drive had no issues finding spaces, nor did anyone run into any safety issues. A unique space that can be decorated to suit anyone's taste and any event's theme, we couldn't recommend Room 1520 more. read more

The Glamorama* launch party certainly requires a glamorous venue. Room 1520 fit the bill perfectly. This venue is so new that my cab driver didn't believe it existed. However, when my cab pulled up to 1520 W Fulton Street this gorgeous loft space was waiting for us. Room 1520 is spacious, bright and has several crystal chandeliers (my favorite!) hanging from their very high ceilings. It was the perfect venue for the cocktail party I attended. I'd also highly recommend to anyone looking for a lofty type of space for a wedding because it's one of the prettier lofts I've seen in Chicago. This event space in the West Loop reminded me of Nellcote without the food and bar: rustic open space and touches with chandeliers. My work had an offsite meeting here and it was a nice space, with adequate bathrooms, sunny during the day, with plenty of room for catering and AV. Beautiful wedding venue and awesome service! We got married at Room 1520 in October 2016. We worked with Celeste from start to finish. She is extremely professional and passionate about making sure you have a fabulous wedding. She consistently answered all our questions, we worked with her to design the space, she let us come early the day of the wedding to use the bridal suite to get ready, and she worked directly with all our vendors (they all know and love her, so it makes everything easier!). We had about 160 guests and had a half sit-down/half cocktail style reception. It was the perfect size space. The bar is so gorgeous and large, no one had to wait for drinks and it never felt crowded. You can add a lot of decorations if you want, but we just went with white tablecloths, the clear chairs, and simple candles, and it was so beautiful. The uplighting and chandeliers make the crisp white space glow in the evening. We used the rooftop for our first look and some bridal party pictures. Great view of the city and very private. Our guests all loved the venue as much as we did. At the end of the night we walked a block down the street to the Cobra Lounge for an after-party, it was super convenient and since it was so close a lot of people joined, perfect place to end the night! We viewed about 12 other venues in the city and nothing compared to the unique style, the value, the service, and the flexibility that Room 1520 offers. Celeste is charming and easygoing. When we saw the space we were impressed by the chairs, chandeliers and bridal suite. The location has a TON of parking for guests! We found Room1520 through our caterer Cocina Fusion. The day of our wedding was a high of 98 degrees the venue felt very cool the entire day and night! I loved my venue. My only note is the stairwell leading to the rooftop was pretty dusty definitely need help holding up wedding dress. Beware - they remove bad reviews. I left an honest, 2.6 star review on wedding wire and the immediately took it down. We decided to go with the All Inclusive package from Room 1520 which included bar staff, a day of coordinator, and a DJ from Cage and Aquarium. We went with this package to make everything simpler and easier on the wedding day, but it ended up being more work and stress for us. One issue that came up was with the bar. The contract for the All Inclusive package stated that we would have the bar staff and DJ for 7hrs. The contract states that two bartenders are provided by Room 1520, but if the event is longer than 7 hours, there would be an extra fee. Our wedding was 7 hours so we should have had bar staff for that length of time. We did not make any changes to the contract this was just the original contract so I would have thought the Day of Coordinator and the bar staff would know how long the bar staff are supposed to be working the wedding for, but the bar staff tried to shut down the bar completely a little over an hour before they were supposed to. We confirmed that the cash bar would be allowed for the last hour of the night with our Day of Coordinator, but the morning of our wedding our Day of Coordinator told us that they wanted to give us another hour of open bar on the house so that we wouldn't have to have a cash bar for an hour. We were so happy and grateful so when the bar tried to close an hour early I was so confused how that could happen. This was such a frustrating experience as a whole because the woman who was managing the bar staff was rude all night and acted like she did not want to be there and when I tried to explain that they are scheduled to stay another hour she just said no we are leaving. I then went to our Day of Coordinator and she also tried to tell me that the bar staff was supposed to leave at this time so I had to pull up the contract myself to show the Coordinator that we still had an hour left of the bar. That is so infuriating as the bride that I had to go around all night telling the vendors and coordinator what was in our contract. Another issue we came across was that we paid over 1k to the venue to have wine service with dinner, but all of our guests complained that they either did not get a glass of wine or only received one glass of wine at dinner because they had to flag down a server to get it. I would have never paid so much money for some people to receive one glass of wine. Even us, the bride and groom, only received one glass of wine at dinner even after I asked a server twice to get a refill. When we asked our Day of Coordinator what happened with the wine service she explained that there was a miscommunication between the caterers and the venue that the caterers thought the venue was supplying the wine service and the venue thought the caterers were supplying it so there was not a person actually assigned to doing the service. Obviously that is just an unfortunate miscommunication, but I just feel like we shouldn't have been charged for the service when it wasn't really performed or at least I think we should've gotten a partial refund or something. The reason I fault the venue for this is because we paid the venue for this service, not the caterer, so the venue needs to take responsibility for the problem. Another issue was with the DJ's equipment. The DJ came with the All Inclusive package with the venue so I thought it would be great and the DJ would understand the space well. The DJ equipment ended up being so off and the microphone would periodically make a screeching feedback noise. During the ceremony, it was so disappointing because our officiant would be talking and then there would be the loud screeching noise. The microphone and speakers didn't work very well in general and every time the DJ had to announce anything no one could understand anything he said so a lot of people ended up missing first dances and practically no one got desserts or late night snacks (including me and the groom) because they had no idea there was a dessert table and late night snack table set out in a back corner. Another issue arose because we DIYed most of our decor. Our Day of Coordinator suggested we hire a day of decorator through the same company she worked for so we did that. I made detailed color coded instructions on where to put what. As I was in the room with the bar just before I was going to walk down the aisle I saw that the decorations hadn't even been put out so the detail shots the photographer took of the welcome table and things like that were just pictures of empty tables. I am just overall so disappointed in how poorly managed the day was and I would really caution anyone interested in this venue to not go with the the All Inclusive package and find your own outside vendors. read more

We had our wedding ceremony & reception at Room 1520 on 9/8/18 and was the perfect day!! Celeste & Ashley were amazing to work with. Room 1520 was the first vendor we booked for our wedding day and Celeste was a great resource to have throughout! She gave us a ton of highly recommended vendors & we pulled together a great team! They were very accommodating to let us come over a look at the space several times when we had parents in town & various meetings before the big day. The new furniture they have purchased for the space is just stunning!! Our rooftop pictures here are some of our favorites from the whole day! We took photos on the roof at 2pm ish and sunset and the lighting was perfect! Room1520 is such an amazing venue in the heart of an amazing city. I fell in love with Room1520 through pinterest and online searching. Planning a wedding from 1700 miles away seemed daunting at first, but June and Celeste made the planning a breeze. The bridal suite was a huge hit with the boys who spent the morning getting ready there. The space was perfect for both our ceremony and reception, and the flip between the two was seamless. The new bar installed is absolutely gorgeous and the whole feel of the venue fit my "modern elegance" theme so perfectly. We were so excited when we found Room 1520. Finding the right venue in Chicago when you're on a budget can be hard! The venue is perfect for a midsize wedding and provides an all-in-one experience (ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing) that guests really appreciate. Room 1520 has a classic style, natural light and great lighting that doesn't require a whole lot of additional decoration, but is flexible enough to go with a variety of themes. Ashley and Celeste were immensely helpful in pulling everything together and collaborating with our vendors. They were so calm and competent and put as at ease even though we weren't sure what we were doing when we started planning! The bar program is really strong and our signature cocktails were big hits at our reception. I would recommend this venue unequivocally for events with 100-125 people. I had a great experience working with Haley and her team at Room 1520 this past June. As an event planner in Chicago, I was hired by my clients to design, plan and coordinate a wedding at the Aérée Loft, Room 1520. We began meeting with Haley in the early fall. She was very helpful in allowing us to schedule meetings with vendors and walk-through's at the space, during or even after business hours. I had an easy time coordinating with her - I kept her in the loop with vendors, schedules, contact info and time lines. And she was always responsive to my emails/calls. The Aérée loft is a wedding planner's dream, the perfect canvas for a wedding. The openness of the space allows for the host to create any type of event or theme. Room 1520 is very cooperative when it comes to this. They allow you pick any vendor you want (as long as they are licensed and insured) which alone allows for the bride and groom to be as creative as they want and/or stay within a certain budget. The space was incredibly transformed on the day of the wedding! The ceremony and the reception were both held on site at the Aérée Loft. As the coordinator, I orchestrated all the vendors to seamlessly transition from the ceremony to the reception - all which occurred during the cocktail hour in the lobby area. The transition was flawless! And we were easily able to host a reception of 170 guests comfortably with a dance floor. Also, the guests enjoyed all the areas of the space all night. Some could step outside and enjoy the fresh air, some lounged in the lobby area to chat or relax, while most stayed in the main room on the dance floor and danced the night away! Guests even came up to me at the end of the night to tell me how much they enjoyed the wedding and especially the space. Most importantly, the bride and groom were extremely impressed! Omg! I fell in love with the venue just from the website alone. Once me and my then fiance went and saw it in person I knew that it was where I was supposed to get married. The price was amazing for everything that they were offering. Which made it an even easier choice to make as our venue. We got married last Friday March 20th 2015 and I couldn't have picked a better place. They updated their office which also served as the bridal suite and it was so beautiful. My bridal party decided to take some of our photos in there. The white walls and all the candles and the up lighting made the room look so beautiful and romantic. The white bar that they put in there is amazing and adds so much to the space. They were so accommodating with adding a ramp for my mother who is in a wheel chair. That's was definitely a must at any venue I picked. I couldn't be happier with my choice. I can't wait to see the professional pictures because I know the camera phone didn't do it justice. A little over 3 months ago, we held our wedding reception at Room 1520. I cannot say enough good things about the staff and the space. From our initial meeting and tour last fall to randomly running into her recently, June was incredibly helpful, friendly, and professional. She really made the experience more stress-free for me with her knowledge and experience. Super quick to answer phone calls and emails, easy to talk to, and more than willing to suggest vendors. (We actually found our caterer--Cocina Fusion--through their preferred list and LOVED them too!) The event manager who was on-site at our reception was also helpful and friendly. If you are into the "urban warehouse" kind of look, Room 1520 is perfect. What set it apart to me from other similar venues in the city were the chandeliers, the entryway, and the bright white "feel." It's hard to describe, but when we toured in person for the first time, I just got this feeling that Room 1520 was IT. A few weeks before our wedding, they installed a beautiful permanent bar. Additionally, they have a rooftop space, which features great views of the skyline--we took some photos at night and they were so good, one of them ended up as our thank you card image. We also rented our chairs and tables through them as they ended up being much cheaper than a vendor we initially contacted. The "bridal suite" is a great large space with private bathroom, allowing you to keep lots of items there, any hair or makeup touch ups, etc. The men's and women's bathrooms are a good size and kept nice and clean. Price-wise I think they are on point in terms of what other venues in the city charge. read more

My wife and I were married at Room 1520 this past weekend, and we could not be happier with how everything turned out. We used Room 1520 for both our ceremony and the reception. The space was more than adequate for seating our approximately 120 guests, hosting these guests for cocktails while the room was flipped for dinner, and then seating everyone at a family-style table configuration with ample space for the dance floor. The space is intimate and yet not claustrophobic, and it is simple enough to be malleable to myriad decors and tastes. We enjoyed the use of the large and comfortable bridal suite for pre-ceremony toasts, and it was perfect for hosting some of our (much) younger guests with a babysitter. Room 1520 also added a beautiful, full-size bar between our first visit and the reception, and we were thrilled that we got to utilize it. Logistically, the space is also easy to reach by train and cab/Uber, and parking in the area is free and abundant for nighttime events. Also, there was a management changeover during our planning, but we were happy with both June (previous manager) and Celeste (current manager) and their attention to detail. As an added bonus, almost all of our vendors, including the caterer (Paramount), DJ (Toast and Jam) and Florist (Ashland Addison) were quite familiar with the space, and seemed to have no problems setting up and taking down the event. Possibly the best part of the venue is its rooftop with an amazing view of the Chicago skyline. The roof was perfect for pre- and post-ceremony pictures. As far as price goes, the space is objectively expensive, but not in relative comparison to some other venues we investigated downtown and closer to the Loop area. Given that it's a pretty perfect place to host a wedding of our size, we were more than happy with the value proposition. read more

The rooftop is an amazing, unique spot for photos with a stunning view of Chicago. The staff are helpful and quick in flipping the space from ceremony to reception. I recently held my September wedding at Room 1520 and I could not have been more pleased with this decision! My wedding coordinator recommended that I check out the space last year and when I did, I was blown away. The venue is absolutely stunning. The white walls and silver chandeliers were the perfect canvas to make my own unique design. The size of the venue was perfect for our 140 guests. I hate it when wedding venues are so large that they look empty. This space was perfect -- everyone fit comfortably! I must also add a little something about the bridal suite. It felt like a dream. The exposed brick, gorgeous décor and white marble created an extremely comfortable and zen environment for me and my bridesmaids to get ready. I felt so calm and relaxed -- I can't imagine getting ready anywhere else! After I signed the contract, I was disappointed to hear that Haley was leaving. However, he woman who took her place (June) was so wonderful to work with that my disappointment vanished almost immediately! June was extremely responsive and accommodating. We held our wedding reception at Room 1520 in June and I cannot imagine having held our reception anywhere else! My husband and I worked with Haley from the moment she walked us through the space last December, to the day of our reception; She is incredibly responsive, welcoming, friendly, and so helpful. Planning a wedding on our own was stressful enough and I can honestly say that I never had any doubts, concerns or trouble with the arrangements at Room 1520. I spent a lot of time researching venues for our reception and Room 1520 was one of the most affordable options for us and provides a discounted rate if you hold your event on a Friday (which we did). The space is gorgeous and I absolutely loved the way the amber up-lighting that we chose transformed the all-white space. We rented tables and chairs from Room 1520 and were able to comfortably seat 160 guests for a sit down dinner, still had plenty of space for a 5 person band, dance floor, cocktail area and dessert area. We brought in our own caterer who was not on the list of preferred caterers. If you do this, bear in mind that you will be charged a small service fee. We brought in flowers for all of the tables but did not feel the need to do any other decorating besides the up-lighting that is included with the space rental. The venue is BYOB but you will need to have licensed bartenders serving your alcohol. Room 1520's beautiful and spacious office doubles as their bridal suite. My bridesmaids and I arrived at 11am and my hair & makeup artist came on-site to help us get ready. Being able to get ready at the venue was so convenient for us since our ceremony was off-site and we were able to store all of our belongings there while we were out for the ceremony and off-site photos. The band and photographers ate dinner in the bridal suite which allowed us to have even more space in the main room for the dance floor. Room 1520 will allow you to use their roof top for photos, which we did during the guest cocktail hour after our ceremony. My husband and I recently got married at Room 1520, and we could not have picked a better venue. Celeste, I cannot thank you enough for being so accommodating with my crazy schedule to come in for walk throughs, day before drop offs, and even for our wedding cake! When we first visited the venue, Celeste's willingness to allow us to visit way after business hours, already won us over. When we walked in, the chandeliers, to the huge bridal suite, to the gorgeous bar space, I was in awe. She even allowed us to do pictures and our first look on the rooftop! The venue comes with the column uplighting, the chandeliers, the chairs, the lounge furniture, etc etc etc. Chair rental and lounge furniture rental is expensive, soon to be brides! The day before the wedding, I, like most brides was in a frantic trying to drop everything off prior to rehearsal. When it came time for rehearsal, because most of our wedding party was traveling from out of town, most were running late, which meant Celeste had to stay much later than intended. Thank you! The day of the wedding, my makeup artists asked to start at 7am, which meant Celeste had to be there by 645am. Thank you, again! Honestly, I cannot be more grateful to have worked with such a wonderful and nice person! She could have just told me, no, and I would have had to figure another way out myself. Just had my wedding there last Friday and I couldn't have asked for a better venue. The venue itself is beautiful. Its the perfect canvas for any theme or type of decor. From the gorgeous marble bar top to the multitude of crystal chandeliers- this space is breathtaking. Of course this is the biggest selling point, but that isn't all. Below I have listed some other things that made this experience the absolute best. 1. Celeste- she is the Venue Manager and she is exceptional. From my first site visit, to signing the contract, to wedding day she was always accommodating and helpful. 2. The Bridal Suite- AMAZING! Its not only beautiful, its huge and has its own bathroom. Myself and my bridal party (7) all got ready there and we had plenty of room. 3. Thank you, Room 1520, for being such a great venue! My wife and I got married here on March 19th and we couldn't have had a better experience. Working with Celeste and her team was a real pleasure. She's a true pro--responsive, accommodating and gracious. Any time we'd request a visit because our family was in town, she would work with our schedule. Any time we'd have a question, she was quick to answer. She really helped us get organized with the details of the evening even when we were a little lost. Her easy-going and fun attitude made the process that much better. The space itself is excellent and our guests loved it. Inside, it's a blank canvas with enough character that you don't have to over-compensate with decorations. The built-in bar is a highlight along with the chandeliers and LED uplighting on the columns. Bathrooms are clean, new and tucked away so they don't distract from the main area. A very nice, spacious bridal suite doubles as Celeste's office and has it's own bathroom. Overall, it was by far the best deal we found for everything they offer. The space manages to have a grandiose feeling even though it's not a huge banquet hall. We comfortably fit around 150 guests and it didn't feel cramped. Weather permitting, one of the better kept secrets about this place is the view from the roof. It's incredible! It's not open to guests, but great for a few photos with your bridal party. We took some of our favorite photos up there a little before sunset and the city provides a surreal backdrop. I highly recommend Room 1520 if you're looking for a venue. The space is beautiful, it's easily accessible with plenty of street parking and they have a great range of preferred vendors who are all good people. Had our wedding here on 9/29/12 and we can't say enough great things about it. -Haley helped us throughout the entire process and was always available to help me with any questions. -Our vendors worked in the space with ease. -Our guests couldn't stop talking about how unique the space was. -It was so exciting for me being able to save a little money by bringing in my own vendors. -The space is this amazing, urban blank slate and I was able to tap into my creativity so much to create the literal wedding of my dreams. -The bridal suite was a lifesaver throughout the night as it allowed us to take a break when needed and have a private bathroom -The rooftop was under construction on the night of our wedding so we were bummed not to be able to take rooftop pictures, but the picture opportunities in the immediate area were super! - We loved having access to the space until midnight- gave us the chance to have a great dance party Overall, if we were to do it all over again, we would definitely choose to use Room 1520 and their amazing team again! read more

We had our wedding and reception held at Room 1520 this past August (2014) and it was such a great experience. Not only is the space beautiful and PERFECT for those that want a ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all in place, but the women that work there, Haley and June, were so wonderful and helpful. With a one location wedding event, I was worried about the flip and if our guests would feel like they were at summer camp, shifting from one location to the next. Room 1520's layout is so perfect that the cocktail hour with the beautiful bar felt separated from the reception and ceremony. Plus, they have built-in draping to separate the space and a STUNNING new bar that is really show-stopping. The light is also fantastic. It was white and bright and when it got dark the place really lit up. The rooftop was SO awesome for bridal photos as well, we even got some night time shots with the skyline and fireworks in the background. We'll never forget our special night and Room 1520 was a beautiful canvas to paint our wedding picture. Strongly recommend to anyone who wants a fun city wedding venue! read more

My company just held an event at Room 1520 and it could not have been more stress-free. The venue itself is also stunning. It has a very open, airy feel to it, accentuated by amazing natural light. It is a fairly large space, but even with a small event like ours, you can customize it to feel very homey and welcoming. Speaking of welcoming, Haley and June and the entire staff were incredibly helpful and great to work with. From figuring out how to situate our event in the space, to recommending caterers and AV companies to work with, they really helped streamline our whole experience. Our organization recently held our annual fundraiser at Room 1520, and the experience was wonderful from beginning to end. The venue was provided to us at a reduced fee due to our nonprofit status, and June worked with us along the way to coordinate walkthroughs and provide insight and perspective on catering and layout. We are a fairly small development department, and were very busy and stressed in the weeks leading up to the event. June (and Room 1520) was like a breath of fresh air, remaining cool, calm, and collected, and working with us to throw the best event we've ever had. The room is a blank palate. Use the colored lights Room 1520 provides. They are gorgeous and will give your event a cool, polished edge. It's an easy to reach location (although you should double check your GPS--this is on Fulton, not Fulton Market), with free and intuitive parking. Room 1520 is a stunning all white, chic but industrial venue that has a handsome bar adorned with vintage chandeliers and blue velvet lounge furnishings. The bridal room is just as stunning with wall sized white mirrors and modern makeup stands. The entire venue is flooded with natural light which makes for gorgeous photos. There is a rooftop view that is one of the best in Chicago and is perfect for photos or a first look. I have worked with the staff on several events and they are prompt, professionala and helpful. Overall, our experience with Room 1520 was great for our wedding in May 2017. We hired Nicole from Urban Allure as our day of coordinator and she was wonderful (highly recommended). The venue was beautiful and the vendors had mostly all worked there before so they familiar with the location and space which was great. There was a event a few days prior to our wedding and they even offered some of the leftover decorations to us for free! The bridal space worked out really well for getting ready prior, and even allowed some of our guests who were new moms to have a place to escape to during the evening. Our guests raved about the space and we really had a wonderful night. The only negative that we experienced was occasional difficulty in communication with the venue. On more than one occasion we had to send several emails (on one occasion even phone calls) to try and get simple questions answered. The biggest frustrations were related to money (significant delays in getting invoices after making cash payments, and getting security deposit returned) and unfortunately this did add extra stress to us during the planning process. In the end everything was resolved and it worked out although it took nearly a month longer than stated in the contact to receive our security deposit back. Despite these frustrations I would still recommend Room 1520 for weddings I only wish we had experienced the communication that others had raved about in their reviews. read more

If you are looking to throw a fun private party for you and your friends, Room 1520 is the place. We held our NYE party there last week. It comfortably fit 200+ people and the space looked and sounded great. I overheard people in the bathroom say that they are the nicest in the city for this kind of space and I'd have to agree. Plenty of toilets, quick drying hand dryers, and pleasantly lit. The dimming chandeliers throughout the space truly added to the spaces character. Even though it is like echo canyon when no one is there, once a few people get in the room, a small DJ set up sounds great. Haley was a pleasure to work with making sure that we had covered all of our bases when it came to caterers and bartenders. She also made sure we had all of the proper licenses and insurance forms filled out. My only complaint (and this is because they are relatively new) is that they needed to provide a preferred vendor list from the get go and they should provide door mats so people don't slip. Other than that, I had no other issues with Room 1520 and would definitely throw another event there in the future. read more

We had our ceremony and reception in Feb 2018 at Room1520 and absolutely loved it. We also used Nicole as our DOC, and her and Celeste were both so responsive, accommodating and just overall great to work with. During our initial walk through we loved the space, but it all looked even better than imagined on the actual wedding day. So much equipment was recently upgraded, including chairs, bar equipment, décor and couches/lounge furniture. There were also so many options available for us to customize to our own tastes including tons of uplighting colors, chairs (rustic vs more formal), tables (shape and size) and layout. The bar is built-in, very elegant looking and extremely wide so many guests were able to go to the bar without crowding the room. The main room had plenty of space for people to dance, but there was also convenient areas near the front of the space to walk away for more private conversations. Parking was extremely convenient, and even though there was a big snow storm leading up to the wedding none of our guests had trouble finding the venue or parking nearby. There are a ton of preferred vendor options who are all super familiar and experienced with the venue. We got so many compliments from our guests, and even first time vendors, at how beautiful the venue looked and general flow of the rooms. Also, we did a lot of research and Celeste gives really good value in terms of pricing. Highly recommend Room1520! read more

Celeste was amazing. She is helpful, flexible and responsive. The space was clean, beautiful and had everything I needed to make the wedding a success. I enjoyed the flexibility of being able to bring in a caterer instead of being stuck with a venue's only caterer. I was able to have tastings with multiple caterers and then pinned them against each other to negotiate and bring the price down. On the day of my wedding, 2.24.18, the space had beautiful new lounge furniture and a new wall curtain. Every single vendor that I worked with knew who Celeste was and had only great things to say about her. That says a lot. read more

I got married here a few weeks ago. Celeste is great to work with and very accommodating to our needs. She helped us plan a lot of the details of the evening and helped us get organized especially the last two weeks leading up to the wedding. The space is a beautiful "blank canvas" but with enough built-in charm that you don't have to over-decorate to make it look amazing. We visited this venue in June for a wedding. We parked one half block from the front door to this venue, same side of the street. We came out to find 6 cars with smashed windows, they had all been broken into. Judging from the glass all over both sides of the street, this is a regular occurrence. It doesn't matter how nice the venue is when your guest's cars are broken into. The staff was lacking in concern and indicated they were used to this occurrence. We filled a police report. read more
