I'm bringing my T-Mobile Blanket a couple block away to this Harlem Drop-off location at 209 W. 125th St. (Coincidently, that's above another T-Mobile store also at 209 W. 125th St. And SafeHorizon has another drop-off at 33 Essex in the Lower East Side.) I volunteered for the following shifts in the past 30 days. - Senior Breakfast in West Harlem (3-hour shift) - Dinner Service in West Harlem (3-hour shift) The train station is located a few feet from the C or B train stop at 116th Street. The facility is located on the Southeast corner next to Texas Chicken, and it has orange awnings. Use the left door and inform the security guard that you are there to volunteer. There is a volunteer room in which you can store your coats and bags in a locked cage. There will be a volunteer leader to get you ready for service. The leader will provide hair nets, name tags, and plastic aprons. All volunteers will either work in the front or the back of the house. It will depend on the needs of the center. The work may include: taking dirty trays to the back, placing food on trays, pouring juices, handing out trays, preparing food for cooking, cleaning, etc. The facility will have full-time staff to guide all of the volunteers during service. The facility will have an opened seating with three lines of tables for people to sit. The clients would typically sign in at the door, then walked towards the serving line to obtain their meals, and then they would sit at the tables. In the end, it was a wonderful experience to help serve meals to the less fortunate in the community.

You can also get fresh eggs, bread, baked goodies and other pantry necessities each week. They're practicing good covid safety with distanced line spacing and masks and gloves for all the workers. I had no one to help me and I do everything by myself. This is absolutely ridiculous and I would give them a zero rating if I could. It's not fair and it's not right after I sat there for 2 hours and they allow people to come in and get the other people four and five people at a time so you're sitting there waking your f****** time. I'm fortunate that I go here to donate canned and other non permissible items. Now my daughter just informed me that they have a partnership with Fresh Direct. They take the reusable bags that she keeps accumulating from our weekly grocery delivery. We're going to bring them as soon as weather warms up. Another reason we can assist our local food pantry besides our food donations. I really appreciate their hard work and dedication to the community.

I was given here not only access to tutoring and mentoring services, field trips, and standardized test preparation but also free license to achieve. More importantly, the knowledge to understand that it is imperative that we as minorities rise above the sub-par expectations placed on us by society, and we must strive to achieve in education. Rather than promoting the acceptance of the status quo, mediocrity in exchange for crime deterrence, HEAF always pushed us towards academic excellence. I am proud to be a HEAFer and will always dedicate as much free time to this wonderful organization as I can.

Alcoholics Anonymous My friends and family have followed…read morethe principles of AA when their alcohol consumption became a problem. That is my smart friends and family did. Denial is the biggest obstacle to hurdle. In my career education and training in the history of the program and the Big Book were mandatory reading for working in Alcohol Drug Abuse and Mental Health (ADAMH). I think the principles are valuable in life period. If you are interested I'm sure your public library information or if you prefer you can just go to the AA website. AA is definitely beneficial for friends and family of the alcoholic as well. Everyone can get support by attending the meetings. If you search Yelp you may find a location has opened closer to your home. Anyone can join a Twelve Step Program. Are you aware of it? I'm recommending.

I am not an alcoholic, but I know one. When they went into a 28 day recovery program, family members were encouraged to attend Al-Anon which is a companion program that helps people who are worried about someone with a drinking program. I learned quite a lot about alcoholism, the Al-Anon program and how to recover from the effects of living with the problem drinking of someone I care about. I am forever thankful for the AA program for helping the person in my life and I am similarly thankful for the Al-Anon program for helping me. Thanks, Bill W. My father is 99 years old and currently a resident at Amsterdam Nursing Home, and our family could…read morenot be more grateful for the care he receives there. Every time I visit -- even unannounced -- the facility is immaculate, clean, organized, and welcoming. Most importantly, the staff treats my father with genuine love, kindness, patience, and respect. He is truly happy there. He speaks so highly of the nurses, aides, and staff, and it is very clear they truly care about him as a person. That means everything to our family. His room is always neat and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere feels warm and caring. The location across from Cathedral of St. John the Divine is also beautiful and peaceful. This nursing home deserves five stars and more. Thank you to everyone there for the compassion and dignity you give to the residents every single day.
