It has a quick "trail" that is shaded and always happily welcomed at that point of my run. I am also a huge fan of kids being outside, playing with their parents or other kids. I know that is ridiculously easy of me to say since I don't have any little gremlins of my own running around; however, after spending over a decade in youth development programming, I love to see kids get messy and smelly. I am always excited to see families enjoying this park in one way or another: lunch under the pavilion, playing on the playground or a game of baseball. The facilities, to me, look to be cared for at all times with green grass, safe equipment and clean bathrooms... I don't really see how you can go wrong here. There is a super tiny parking lot and some okay street parking. I "believe" you are able to park at the legion parking lot across the street. The weather is perfect right now for some park time. Keep the pups at home or keep them on their leash as there isn't a dog area here.

Update to previous review…read more The Condo I live in is 50 feet off of Lake Norman and we have an overweight Pembroke Welsh Corgi who rules the roost. See profile pictures on the same. At various times during his walks he has favorite routes and will let you know if you deviate. He has one set of routes when my wife walk him but if I am on the other end of the leash, he has another. This is his favorite when I have the leash and I must admit, mine also. The very very bleak playground more on bailey road is seriously lame-o. The larger playground outback past the tennis courts was likely great 10 years ago but has been very badly neglected. On the up side it is "under renovations". On the downside the town chose July - sept to do the renovations. Seriously, who plans these things. Kids are off for the summer and your closing for the summer. Another bright side is if and when this place does get a facelift it looks like it'll be pretty neat AND best of all big trees line the area so it's nicely shaded. Another note - weird note- the trees that surround the playground has these trees that drop pussy droplets and then clunk - these hard lime colored and sized things start dropping. I'be only lived here a couple years and have no ideas what they are. Weird choice for landscaping by a playground. After some googling I think they are eastern black walnut trees I'll come back this fall and check the renos out and offer an update.

Yes I am a fan of Davidson…read more Great College Town, the Home of Davidson College. Liberal and Conservative at the same time but for a change, generally tolerant to all views. The Town works hard to maintain it's identity and unique small time feel. Up until a couple of years ago, there was not even a large scale Grocery Store in Town. Those wanting to maintain the small town or village feel were opposed to it because it made the town more commercial and less human. The Conservative element did not want the Grocery Stores because they sold Alcohol. Finally a Harris Teeter came in which is now part of Kroger. A rapprochement has been reached with the downtown left intact and new development east and west of Downtown. So much for the discussion of the dynamics of the Community, Very dynamic with a lot to offer, particular in Downtown. Host of one of the best regional Farmers Markets on Saturday. A string of great restaurants, some outstanding and several good but need to push it to the next level. A lot to do. Very walking and bike friendly. Many great Churches all of which are very progressive and promote a doctrine of service and inclusiveness . Good place to park your car and go for a walk and enjoy all of the shops. Stop into Summit for great Coffee and the Soda Shop for what else, Take more than a couple of hours, unwind and enjjoy

The park has tennis courts (all of which were in use this late December day), a playground, a large soccer field and a permanent structure with bathrooms. There is a nice paved walking path as well. There are several benches near the playground and it there is a low wall to keep the little ones from walking away.
