My neighbor hired this gentleman to cut a tree that belonged to her / was on her property, but…read moreleaning over my house. Our properties are divided by a 'man made creek' aka ugly, unsightly drainage ditch - and the ditch is lined with trees on both sides. Due to multiple factors - as I expected based on ..., it was deemed that the safest and easiest way to access my neighbor's leaning tree was to from my side of the ditch. Even though my neighbor was fine with a verbal agreement - I insisted on drafting up a document granting access from yard and outlining minimum requirements - (a. min 24 hr advance notice so I can prepare and coordinate my schedule and b. assurance company is insured / proof of insurance) After two reschedules, he visited my home on July 25 along with a 2 man crew. He said that there were some small trees around the large, leaning tree that would have to be removed so that he could get to the tree. Other than the fact that he spray-painted some trees, things seemed fine. (I didn't understand the need for spray paint since he was doing the work right then.) The job was taking longer than I anticipated, so I left to go the post office. On my way home from the post office, I noticed that I had a missed doorbell Ring from one of his workers. When I returned home, I saw that the crew was gone and one of my gutters were bent. This was very obvious because 1) my gutters are less than 3 years old and 2) my gutters are bright white. I called Mr. Joseph and he expressed surprise at my 'claim.' Said 'his guys' didn't say anything about it. I told him that I thought he was here working with them. He explained that he'd left them working, to go to another jobsite and experienced truck trouble. He told me he would get back to me. He did not. I contacted him the next day, after not hearing from him - and he said he was having trouble with his truck (still) and that he would straighten the gutter out when he came back to remove the debris. At no point did he apologize for his guy damaging the gutter, nor did he apologize for not calling me back the evening before. In fact, this time he was snappy and belligerent until I told him that I didn't understand why he seemed frustrated with me when I was the one with damage to my home and a yard full of tree debris. He calmed down a little bit, but he still refused to commit to a day and time to come by and I explained to him that I wanted to be home (and awake) when they came to do the work. It was clear (see photo) that one of the crew members had already tried to straighten the gutter (and done a bad job of it). He told me he would let me know when he planned on coming out. Without any notice, on July 27 they showed up at my house and moved all the debris from my yard, into the neighbor's yard and the top of the cul de sac. No attempt was made to fix the gutter and I don't even know if Mr. Joseph was with them. On a less important note - one of the trees they spray painted was left intact, so I had to look at a bright orange blob of paint for several months until it faded. And when they were felling the tree, they managed to somehow 'skin' or knock the bark of several of the smaller but healthy trees lining my side of the ditch. On Aug 14, they finally came back and cleaned up the debris. When they came - they parked their woodchipper in front of my driveway, so that I had to actually drive on to my lawn to pull on to my driveway. Eventually, the neighbor hired "Juan Guathers" to replace the section of damaged gutter. After one no call / no show and one rescheduling from him, on Oct 7 the gutter was finally repaired. I understand that accidents happen. And I've been a homeowner for 20 years. I understand that things don't always go smoothly. I'm a very reasonable person. But the fact that the owner failed to EVER follow-up or update me showed an extreme lack of professionalism. I got the distinct impression that because my neighbor was his client, not me - he didn't feel compelled to follow up with me - or maybe it was 'something else.' I found this owner and crew to be super inconsiderate and unreliable. Would not recommend hiring.
