This is the best and most fresh food one can get in International Falls. While it is now only carry out, the food continues with excellent preparations, and consistently pleases. Special Wonton Soup is delicious, Hunan Beef spectacular and Singapore Noodles, second to none. Hot & Soup soup, the best!! Love the pot stickers, crab rangoon, and vegetable fried rice too! Disappointing Chinese food. You do get what you pay for and even though it's inexpensive the food at the Rose Garden Restaurant is not very good. We had the sweet and sour chicken and the beef and broccoli. Both were mediocre. My wife said the fried rice was some of the worst she has ever had. I opted for steamed rice thankfully. To offer some comparison, Panda Express has better food. For international Falls this may be a very good restaurant. But I've had much better Chinese food at other restaurants. This was a disappointing lunch, even though it was a cheap meal. Only $16 for two people is a good deal, especially since we both had entrees with rice, soup and an spring roll. Vegetarians beware- no viable options here. I wanted to like this place. I didn't want to write this review, but I don't want a fellow foodie to read these positive reviews and fall into the same trap. I have given this place two chances, and I have been pretty disappointed both times. I think this place has positive reviews because there are not a lot of diverse food options in the area. On my first visit, I ordered the vegetable delight off their dinner take out menu, only to get back to my motel room and open my takeout containers to see plain steamed vegetables in some lukewarm water, and plain white rice. Thrown into the bag were two packets of soy sauce and no silverware. I was in town on business, and didn't have any silverware in my motel room, so I had to bug the front desk of the motel for a fork so I could eat this mess. The veggie delight was...undelightful. I expected some sort of sauce at the least, who wants plain, steamed vegetables and plain fried rice? The second visit I went with friends for lunch, during lunch Rose Garden doesn't serve a full menu, they only have a set number of lunch specials available, all of which have meat. My waitress seemed confused when I wanted to know if I could just have a side of fried rice or something. I ended up asking if I could have anything without meat, but ended up with basically the same thing I was given the last time, but with noodles instead. No sauce, no flavor. Just plain noodles and plain steamed vegetables. Would've preferred they had just let me have the side of fried rice. The staff was nice and pleasant on both encounters. I want it to do well, because I want all businesses up here to do well, and I want there to be Asian restaurant options in International Falls, which is why this made me so bummed to write this review. read more

The food was okay and the service was good. Liked the crab rangoons more than the egg drop soup. Hot and sour soup was good and thick. Egg rolls were delicious. Kung pao chicken was light on the chicken and sauce (bad), heavy on the veggies, which were good. The sweet and sour chicken came with no veggies, just chicken and sauce. Tasty! I am honestly floored that this restaurant has such positive Yelp reviews- myself and everyone else who has eaten here who I've talked to have such negative things to say. My friend group has an ongoing joke about who is going to be the person to get food poisoning after eating at this restaurant. Not only can the food potentially make you feel sick to your stomach afterward, it also just doesn't really taste good. The first time we came here (don't ask me why we came a second time), all five of us did not like our food. It was very poorly prepared. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone else. Went in on a weeknight, service was excellent, and got served right away. Friendly staff, everyone said hi and smiled! Egg drop soup was good, not too hot and tasted good. The egg rolls were very good, came with sweet and sour dipping sauce and were fresh. Ordered the Cantonese noodle Beef Kow, and it arrived quickly and very well presented. It was excellent, with the last bite tasting as good as the first. Not spicy, but very flavorful. Veggies were crisp and fresh, and the beef was tender and not stringy at all. I recommend the Rose Garden Restaurant, and I think it is above averge for sit down chinese/Cantonese restaurants. read more

As my daughter and family live in the Falls, this is my Go To place to eat when visiting. Either sit down or take out, the food is fantastic and this family run operation is so warm and inviting. I always order hot and sour soup, my favorite, and this is one of my judging criteria for a Chinese restaurant and it is overall quality and here the soup is hearty, thick and most favorable, and thus to my taste, excellent. I love the vegie egg foo yung, (hold the gravy), the chop suey, Mongolian beef, and other various combos. The fried rice is good, I just miss perhaps the crunch of a few more bean sprouts, and like many Chinese restaurants in the Upper Midwest, they do not have my favorite Chinese vegie: Gai Lan. The Rose Garden is a super Chinese food destination and if in the Falls or passing thru to Canada for a fishing trip or a hockey game, be sure and put this restaurant as a must stop visit. read more

Stopped here for dinner because of the great reviews here on Yelp. Our server took our order and brought us our drinks. Another server brought our food and refilled our drinks. The food was good, nothing extraordinary, but good. The service was a completely different story. Our original server NEVER came back to the table after delivering our original drinks. She stopped by the table behind us several times but we didn't see her once. Quite a while after we finished our meal she showed up with our bill. I asked for a box for the small portion of leftover rice and she brought me a regular size styrofoam "to go" box. There was only one copy of the bill (the one to be signed) and I didn't want to wait and see how long it would take her to find our table again, so just left without a copy of the bill. The best oriental food I have ever had, and I lived in Chicago for 37 years. Special Won Ton soup is superb, Peking Delight, Singapore Curry Noodles, and Four Seasons are at the top of my list. This is not just my opinion, but the same as every coworker I talked to when discussing good places to eat in International Falls. Avoid this place.
