For a small town that likely has lots of tourists to nearby Voyagers National Park, this coffee/breakfast joint in a little downtown area of International Falls was a cute spot to grab a good latte and breakfast. My latte hit the spot after several travel days of bad coffee. :) My scone tasted very good although I think it was not like typical scones (this one was rather flat with a texture that wasn't quite scone-like). Nevertheless I'm glad I ordered it for breakfast. It was tasty. My son loved his waffle. The dining experience is an ambiguous mix between wait service & order at counter and find a nice place to sit. The two guys behind the counter arrived as both baristas and waiters. They were 100% pleasant but sometimes service was slow due to their multi-tasking roles. A few orders (including mine) were misconstrued and had to be corrected. Which they always did with a smile. The ambiance inside was chill with lots of people coming and going. If you aren't ordering to-go and don't need to get in & out quickly, this is a lovely cafe to enjoy breakfast.

A very nice place that is FULL during busy days like today ( Father's Day ) . They had a long line of people and we waited about 45 mins for our order . The food when it finally arrived was totally worth it. Both the omelettes were very tasty and filling. Suggest going in there early or be ready for some waiting . Parking is available behind the cafe. They have some seating at the back so enquire with them of you want to sit at the back

Grilled Reuben sandwich...only $8. This would have easily been $12 sandwich back in Los Angeles.

Absolutely amazing quaint and cozy coffee shop I had lunch at. I was in International Falls for work from Los Angeles. One of the engineers I work with brought me here for lunch and it was amazing. Very much a mom and pop coffee shop with freshly baked goods and a killer Reuben sandwich. Staff is super friendly and the coffee shop had a super chill vibe where everyone knew each other. Overall an experience you'll won't get at a Starbucks

Seating also available in the back!

Great place for breakfast or lunch. I had the eggs bennie and they were delicious. My friend had the meatloaf burger and enjoyed it.

This is a larger restaurant located right across from the Days Inn. We arrived pretty late, but even at 8PM on a Saturday everning, the place was packed. Luckily there was a table open and we were seated immediately. We ended up only getting one item to share because we had just eaten a ton of cherries and were not that hungry. The server was happy to accommodate. Fried Chicken Dinner ($20.99) - The dish first comes with a side salad, which since we decided to share, came split on two plates. It's a basic salad with some cucumber, iceberg lettuce, and shredded cheese, and is served with two whole small cups of dressing. Our choice was Ranch, which is surprisingly delicious. It's slightly tangy with that classic Ranch taste. It's served cold and is clearly superior to regular bottled dressing - I believe they mix their dressing in house. The fried chicken took about 30 minutes to arrive. It includes four pieces of chicken that are tiny - the smallest pieces I've ever seen other than Cornish game chickens. The chicken seems to be hand trimmed from a whole chicken, then hand battered and fried. The breast actually still has a piece of neck attached and the cut ends are quite messy. It's a homestyle, classical fried chicken, so it's fried hard until somewhat dry and chewy inside. The exterior gives a robust crunch, not quite cornflake/thick flour batter style, but a thinner crunchy coating. The chicken is bled thoroughly so there's no sign of extraneous myoglobin bloody areas that I sometimes see in homestyle fried chicken. It's salted and seasoned well on the exterior. The chicken comes with a bread stick. It's soft, fluffy, and chewy and is brushed with an appropriate amount of salted butter to liven things up. For the side, we went with the wild rice, which was our first try of this dish on the trip. The wild rice is really interesting. It's all curled up and popped open. It has a texture that's really snappy and bouncy, kind of like a hot dog in snappiness, but with the bounce of beef tripe. The taste is nutty similar to barley. We were so enamored with the texture that over the next couple of days, we actually visited multiple grocery stores and trading posts to pick up the various types available to cook at home - cultivated, wood parched, air boat harvested, and wild hand picked. (4/5) Given the tiny size of the chicken, the half chicken meal probably only feeds one person. It was enough for us, though, since we were not that hungry. I was quite surprised at the quality of the food at Chocolate Moose. I expected most of the restaurants in International Falls to be Sysco-reheated-food type establishments, but Chocolate Moose actually makes at least some (maybe most?) of their food in house. Sat down and waited. And waited. And waited. The surrounding tables were being served drinks, food, being checked in on. Not one worker stopped by our table for 20 minutes, even when the literal table next to us was being served. I should also note we had no menus. To give them the benefit of the doubt, we wondered if we should have grabbed our own menu from the bar. The bartender seemed annoyed by our request for a menu, but success, we can finally peruse a menu while continuing to wait. Other people sat at an outdoor table and were brought water... while we continued to sit. After +20 minutes, a girl noticed us and asked if we had been helped. We said no and she immediately apologized and said she thought the other girl had us. Honest miscommunication. We placed our food and drink order, but then waited 10 more minutes for water. Finally, at about the 45 minute mark we finally had a cocktail. Phew. I should note that tables who sat after us received food and drink before us. Kind of disheartening to sit for so long and not even get our ordered bumped? Overall, spent $75 and nothing was comped or bumped to be expedited quicker. Really wanted to try another drink but it wasn't worth the time wasted or $$$.
