Here is the thing...In my email I explicitly said "what can you do for "x" amount of money?" I then went on to say "if there is nothing you can do that is fine and I understand". I worked in the design industry for years and my pet peeve was people who wanted the world but didn't want to pay for it. I wasn't asking for that, I was asking for options. To never even respond is completely unprofessional. So, in the final hours I found a different place and only ordered what I knew I couldn't DIY - a corsage and two bouttoniares. This new place treated me like I had just given them a million dollar contract. They wanted me to be perfectly satisfied and they told me so. I felt so "seen" and respected. They asked if I was going to have a bouquet and I said I was but that I was going to attempt to make it myself. Thinking they'd be horrified and I'd never hear from them, like Singing Flower, they said "Oh, you can totally make your own! Especially the kind you are describing." Well, I went ahead and did just that and what I made with my friend was STUNNING and affordable. I will be forever grateful to this other flower shop and I will sing their praises. True professionals in every sense. What Singing Flower doesn't realize is that the company I work for requires the use of floral services and they spend tens of thousands a year. I don't have a lot of money to spend on flowers, but they do, and now I can recommend this other floral shop for their needs. You should treat everyone equally regardless of budget because it is the right thing to do AND you never know who THEY know.

When Ann took my order, she captured my words re: style exactly as I requested "wildflowers, something loose and playful". And yet, my sister received an elegant, stiff arrangement in a short glass vase that would be stunning as a wedding centerpiece, but nothing like my order request. When my sister FaceTimed me to show me the 7 pink garden roses, one hydrangea and some greens, my heart sank. Not only was the arrangement much smaller than expected, there was nothing "wildflower, loose or playful about it". I wanted to resolve this prior to leaving a review, mistakes happen, right? I immediately called after I saw the flowers (image below) and spoke with Kim. Kim took the time to listen to my disappointment and confusion with the order, even though she was the only one in the shop and busy. Kim asked if I could have my sister text her an image of the flowers. Then, I find out that Kim called my sister (the recipient) to ask if she was unhappy and would like to switch out the arrangement. Awkward!!!! My sister didn't know how sad and disappointed I was or how much I spent, and she told Kim that wasn't necessary. She told her that the "flowers weren't me but they are pretty". I am the one who ordered and paid, why call her? My sister doesn't know that I spent over $100 on these few pink garden roses. I called Kim hours later after no one got back to me and she said they have a formula and the arrangement was valued more than $100. She said that each order is "unique" and that they "put their creative souls" into their work. I reminded her the style request on the order form and how I was told I could get a much bigger arrangement for $100. I asked for a partial refund. Despite getting the style so wrong, the upsell, the disappointing size and lack of flowers, Kim said a partial refund "isn't possible". Her effort at fixing it was to call the recipient and offer a switch "for something else already in the truck". Really??? This was my birthday gift for my sister. Ugh. Cost of living in the Bay area is, well, ridiculously expensive. And yet, $100 gets you a beautiful large bouquet of loose, wildflowers done right 3 times the size. I gave 2 stars, not 1 star, because Kim showed some responsiveness in taking my call. I want to support local businesses, but next time, I'm going with Farmgirl Flowers or another local florist. I do not recommend Roses and Thistle unless you want very expensive, small centerpieces for an upscale event.

Since my parents had their wedding arrangement done by Leonard's decades ago, we've been coming back. In August I went with my family, we showed up and meandered around, found a few planters and a branch of a plant lying on the ground. About an 1/2 foot-sized piece of a massive massive jade plant had broken off, and dried. It was clear it had happened a while ago. I asked if it was for sale, and the woman simply let me have it! By this point it was uncertain if it would live. I planted it, and it is by far my happiest and healthiest plant.
