From the outside it looks like a big yellow warehouse and not very welcoming, but go inside and it is absolutely crammed full of furniture. This doesn't sell your average, run of the mill, furniture, but very nice pieces manufactured in oak, pine and walnut to name a few. They have everything from coffee tables, through dining suites, to bookcases, CD racks and sideboards. Go through to the other side and they also have wardrobes, bed frames, chests of drawers etc. I bought some oak pieces for my lounge and am very impressed with them. They are well made and finished and extremely heavy - nothing flimsy about them. You can choose to have either a waxed finish or lacquer coating on the furniture - depending on which pieces you buy. If you are fortunate enough to find a piece you like in their sale section, lucky you - you can pick up some wonderful things at up to 50% off their normal price. The staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful and if you don't want to take the furniture away with you, they will deliver it for you very quickly. All in all a fabulous store with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere (once inside that is - not the yellow warehouse look of outside!)

The manage to get a great price in the sale, and we were very happy. However we encountered a few problems and received the wrong colour, so as you could guess we wasn't very happy especially as we'd been waiting three months for it. We had to sort this problem out with the manager but then had to wait a further 3 months for the correct colour, as the sofa was hand made in Italy, so didn't have any in a warehouse somewhere sitting there doing nothing. Apart from that problem, the staff in DFS Maidstone were always friendly and helpful, and not too all over you when you were looking around. Sometimes they can get a bit annoying and make you just want to leave because you just feel pressured to buy.

The prices are often good but it is always worth checking in Wilkinson or the poundshop if you are after something in particular. They sell similar stuff to Wilkinsons but it is all a bit more random. Stock includes a small amount of toiletries, books, tools, pet care and seasonal goods. They also sell clothes, sweets, storage boxes and baskets, kitchen goods, cups and picture frames. It is not usually busy and they are always happy to open up new checkouts but the staff can be a little slow.

Upstairs they sell beds and mattresses. They have a really big selection and they are good prices too.
