My wife and I and some friends spent a couple of nights at the historic Windsor Hotel. We reserved a table in the hotel's opulent Rosemary & Thyme restaurant for dinner. The restaurant itself is just magnificent; linen tablecloths and napkins on tables set in a grand room that gives you a sense of dining during the Gilded Age. The ample menu includes steaks, chicken dishes and seafood. Two of us ordered filets, and the others ordered the chicken Marsala and Salmon. The meals were excellent! The filets were a full 8 ounces and cooked perfectly (medium rare). The other dishes were just as delicious. The wait staff were attentive, engaging and charming. Wonderful waitress!! Horrible kitchen!! Prime Rib was over-cooked and cold at the same time. Sent it back. Don't choose the "vegetable medley" unless you want a peppery ditchweed bundle of roughly 8 weeds (twine- thin green beans and pencil lead asparagus) and the scoop of mashed potatoes were cold all the way through. If you're going to serve me mashed potatoes from two days ago, the least you could do is microwave wave them a bit! They even managed to mess up a 3 component cocktail order that they ended up charging me an extra 9 dollars to correct!!! This place isn't cheap. Spend your money elsewhere where the kitchen at least makes an effort. read more

My wife and I stayed at the hotel and ate in the dining room during an anniversary trip. The food had good flavor and it's a nice atmosphere, but unfortunately that's where the positive review ends. My steak was overdone and service was slow. We had to ask for refills, didn't get dinner rolls upon request, and I ended up using a butter knife to cut my steak due to inattentive server. read more

Excellent setting on the second floor of the historic Windsor Hotel. My parents and I had an enjoyable evening walking through the Windsor hotel and their Christmas decorations. We had excellent friendly service at Rosemary & Thyme. And the food was amazing! We had salmon, chicken Marsala and the pork chops. All entrees were terrific! And the sides of mash potatoes and Brussels sprouts were perfect. My wife had blackened chicken in a mushroom cream sauce that was perfect. I had the grouper with green beans and mashed potatoes and all spot on. The green beans were tender but not over cooked, I never once looked for the salt or pepper. Really really good. Finished off the meal with crème brûlée and it was fantastic. I love eating at Rosemary and Thyme. The food is good but the service can be spotty. Go for the evening. The tables are far apart. So you're not hearing everyone's conversation. The chairs are large and comfortable for me. The menu is doable. You can recognize the food. If you aren't hungry for a big meal, Floyd's has hamburgers and other bar food. You can eat your food inside, sitting on the rocking chairs or tables on the terrace. I love Floyd's too. read more

This beautiful restaurant is lovely and beautifully decorated. The staff was very kind and very sweet. Our waitress was unfortunate, she was very spacey or had other things on her mind. My friend ordered an old fashion and I ordered a wine and a water with lemon. In fairness I did not order the wine until I ordered dinner which suggested the wine I ordered. However; I did order the water and lemon. The waitress brought the home fashion, but not the water or wine. I waited a while thinking OK she'll bring it, she did not. I had to remind her when my companions. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits which had a Louisiana special spice. It was very tasty, and cooked perfectly. The salmon dish was delicious, the sauce was created pie chef who clearly knows what they are doing. This was a delicious entrée. We shared a pumpkin crème brûlée, which was awesome. The pumpkins was fresh, with cinnamon and maybe some nutmeg is my best guess. It so very unique and delicious . We also shared peaches flambe' over ice cream prepared table side. It was a wonderful show and was truly fantastic. We had to remind the waitress to bring silverware twice. I would have given this restaurant at five star had it not been for the fact that the waitress was not paying attention. The restaurant was gorgeous with white table cloths and beautiful place settings. The young man who seated us removed the extra silverware and glass then returned to fill our water goblets. About 12 minutes later are anxious because no one has been to our table. A server who had been tending to the table next to us finally stopped and let us know she would be our server. We had waited so long we ordered an appetizer and our food immediately. At her suggestion we got fried green tomatoes. 35 minutes later they arrived at our table. She had stopped by once at about 25 min to let us know they had run out of remoulade sauce but were making more. It would be 2 minutes. We saw her a few times in the dining room but never close to our table until she delivered the app. Without us asking she let us know they would be removed from our ticket. Before our app arrived two tables seated 15-20 min after we arrived had eaten apps and had their meals delivered. Finally our food arrived and it was subpar. I had ordered the ribeye cooked medium rare. It arrives mostly well done with spots of med well. It was very difficult to chew! I had taken one edge fat piece that was tasty before the server stopped and asked how our food was. We did not see her again until plates were cleaned and at least 15 min had passed. I was starving so I ate it and never said anything but it was the worst steak I've ever eaten. Good flavor, just incredibly dry and overcooked. I love creme brûlée so I ordered one for dessert and it was very tasty! Giving it two stars because given the white table clothes and elegant place settings I expected an attentive server and good food. Service was incredibly slow, management was non existent and food was not worth the price. Very disappointing. read more

We ate at Floyd's for a more casual atmosphere. The menu is the same. We both ordered grouper, blackened. She with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. I with Brussels sprouts and rice. We both finished it all and thought it was wonderful. The wine was smooth. The beer was cold. My Manhattan was mixed perfectly. My only complaint was the noise level. There is nothing to absorb it. The food was great, well above typical AMERICUS fare. Omlet could have been executed better, it was like a really good egg fu young, not a hotel omelet. My wife got a croissant sandwich that was good, not great. I'm not even sure there was vodka in my bloody Mary. The ambience was great. The food was good. The service was slow and they weren't busy. We go to Rosemary & Thyme all the time! Our favorite is the Grilled Salmon. You can usually choose either white rice or mashed potatoes as the starch and then Brussels sprouts, asparagus or vegetable medley for the veggie. I usually pick the rice and sprouts and it has a white lemon sauce that is to die for. There are usually a couple of different options for dessert but we love the Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie, Strawberry Shortcake or whatever Cheesecake they have that evening. This is to spot for fine dining in Americus. The service and decor makes this a must stop spot if you are in the area. Housed in a century old hotel with glimpses of its former grandeur. I was pleasantly surprised by my dinner entree. The grouper was flaky with a rich beurre blanc sauce. I asked to lighten up the dish to substitute brussel sprouts for pasta. My waiter was pleasant and answered my questions honestly and attentive to my preferences. My warm cookie dessert was ho hum but if you want warm chocolate and ice cream it delivers. However, when you list gelato and ganache I don't expect a a piece of chocolate and the gelato was straight up ice cream American style. Breakfast wasn't anything to write home about. The food was great - eggs, cheese grits, thick cut bacon, hash browns, biscuits, omelettes - even the coffee was awesome and they kept our cups filled and piping hot! The architecture and ambience of the Windsor is amazing. I was shocked that every table wasn't full, especially since the prices were so low - $9 a person. We enjoyed a Valentine's Day dinner here... a special menu... tried most of the items and none disappointed. The warm bread and cinnamon flavored butter - just roll me in this and I will be happy... scrumptious... The pimento cheese fritters with pepper jelly - just keep 'em coming... warm and gooey and seasoned and delicious... The strawberry walnut salad - crisp and wonderful... The plank salmon and Brussel sprouts and wild rice - salmon was huge and tender and juicy, sprouts tender and seasons, rice flavorful... The chicken cordon blue - well-seasoned and amply-potions and great flavors... I've been all around the world and by far the folks at the Windsor is the only hotel that made me feel like I was at home. Destiny was my server two nights at the fantastic Rosemary and Thyme. She really went above and beyond, providing us with such excellent service. In fact, when my associate mentioned how much he loves their crème brûlée she fired up that contrasting layer of hard caramel right at our table! Tomorrow night they will be preparing a special chocolate version for us for the first time in the history at Rosemary and Thyme. Kudos to the chef for the fantastic risotto that was served with my duck! Then there were the bartenders at Floyd's Pub. Katie was so personable. Not only did Connor provide us with some fantastic drinks, you can tell he really cared about our customer experience. You don't see that everyday, thank you for everything Connor! My room was tended to everyday like clockwork. Spic and span each time. Thanks crew! Without a doubt, I will be returning to the Windsor. If you haven't been there yet, you should. This place was a little hard to find, because it is in the Windsor Hotel, and there are no exterior signs to clue you in. I wasn't staying there. I came because the Yelp reviews were favorable. Had dinner Friday night. The chicken cordon bleu was not very good. The chicken was too thick and dry. It consisted of a chicken breast topped with a piece of ham and sauce. Had to wait 10 minutes for the peach cobbler dessert. Just ok. Had breakfast Sunday morning. Only 2 other people in restaurant. Ordered eggs over easy. The white portion of eggs were slimy and not done. Both of us ordered sausage and we both got bacon. Waiter took our plates back and came out with 2 sausage patties per plate. I couldn't cut my sausage with a knife. They were obviously cooked in the microwave toooo long. Wonder who got the bacon. read more

Service is really great but the meal as a whole just wasn't anything amazing to me. I got Deconstructed Chicken Cordon Bleu and my boyfriend got Chimmichurri Steak. We got the shrimp appetizer and the shrimp were over cooked and chewy. The steak was kind of tough, even for the cut it was, and the chicken in my dish was super bland. What a gem of a hotel and restaurant!!! It's the best Best Western I've ever been to... The ambiance, staff, energy and the amazing food!! Rosemary and Thyme was fabulous! We got the Pimento Cheese fritters, Wilted Romaine Salad and some pastas. All of these were so good... and we came from Atlanta, home of amazing restaurants!! I read the reviews of Rosemary & Thyme before eating there. First, the new chef knows what she is doing. I'm not quite sure why the owners make such a deal out of the fact that she came from a quail plantation. But, she certainly knows how to cook. The menu may seem small to some, but for a restaurant that's aspiring to deliver fresh quality food, having a focused menu communicates that the person is a professional. The menu did not let me and my partner down. The cucumber salad was fantastic. Not only was all the produce fresh, the dressing was interesting and light. Salads often mean something that is smothered in a topping that defeats the purpose of eating a salad by turning it into a dessert with creamy dressing (hiding the usually poor quality of ingredients). Not this one. Yum! I had the tomato basil pasta and my partner had one of the chicken choices. The portions were really well sized. Thank you. I was raised to eat my plate clean which is increasingly hard when people give you enough food for at least three people. And wow they both tasted FANTASTIC. I'm very impressed that the owners have read the reviews here and responded in their kitchen. I would encourage people to eat there to reward good service! Thank you again. Also, thank you to Destiny who was our server (she is mentioned in a previous review). She was kind and friendly. Finally, one suggestion. One of the glasses of wine I had was a bit past its prime. I don't know whether the bar and the kitchen share wine bottles (since the glass didn't seem to come from the direction of the bar...) but if they could it might reduce the problem of this happening. read more
