Surprisingly this 5 year new addition to beautiful Oakland's JL Square is this welcoming wine club that originally opened in Alameda. Conceitfully located at a corner across from the Ferry Dock it takes homage and boasts views of the water with feel of that perfect summer breeze. Kent (Rosenblum) crafts not only wine that is extraordinary, but service executed by the Marilee and Jackie that are pretty outstanding. I made friends with a man that I heard sat in the same bench every day (around the corner) who appeared to be down in his luck, so I asked them to make him a meal and I would foot the bill and they did. Creative wine delectables like cheese, bread, and salami made for a good sandwich for my new friend who enjoyed it tremendously. So after walking to the bench to deliver him his food, I returned back to my bar stool to encounter Rosenblum Cab (delish) in which a commitment was made. Just cancelled my Rosenblum Wine Club membership. Wines are great and expensive but can't stomach their super premium shipping charges. They charged $27 to ship 4 bottles from the SF Bay area to San Diego. Would suggest going with the Ridge Wine Club where wines are of equal quality and comparably priced but shipping on my last order was $14.69 for 6 bottles. Wrote to Rosenblum regarding these exorbitant shipping charges several months ago after my last shipment (which was mis-delivered to another home in my area) and 'Lindsay' wrote back saying they were looking into it - yet nothing has changed. read more

My best friends and I were recently reunited here in the Bay Area, and we wanted to meet up for the first time in years! They suggested wine tasting here in the East Bay and a quick Yelp search yielded Rosenblum Cellars. One of my friends placed a reservation the night before, and when we got there we seamlessly checked in and were seated. We ordered a bubbly flight and a bottle of Snapdragon (2019 Riesling) to share, and both were excellent! We had a slight miscommunication when ordering (we wanted a bottle of the Riesling, but instead got a glass), but the service was great and simply threw it in for free! It was a great first wine tasting, and I'll definitely be back. read more

I have always been a fan of Rosenblum Cellars, both at this location and at their Alameda one. Kent created beautiful wines back in the day, and paved the way for the wonderful wines that are in their library today. He even began being a part of the wine making again last year. Visit the wonderful, estuary view tasting room to taste his legacy with delicious wines - some for everybody! They have whites, reds and even sweet wines. Try the colorful (literally) sweet wine flight! Their bites selections are great - tons of different cheese, meat and cracker options! Add in the fact that they do Tuesday Trivia and other weekly events, this is a place worth checking out on a date, with a group of friends and even with your parents! Right at the ferry to SF's entrance, with a pretty sweet outdoor patio, Rosenblum offers up charcuterie plates and wonderful glasses of red. Feel free to forgo the tasting and just purchase wine by the glass, if you so wish. Although their tasting at $20 is a tad bit pricy for my wallet (and not waived with a wine purchase), I still very much enjoy Rosenblum Cellars. This is a more "corporate" experience and therefore lacks that Oakland charm we know and love, but it's a beautiful venue and the wine is really good. I'd rank this as one of the better wines I tasted on my Oakland wine tour. Not gonna lie, they are pretty damn pushy on the wine club membership, but feel no pressure. It does happen to be a great deal when you are paying $20 a pop on wine tastings, but I can't commit to something like this. I can imagine myself on a beautiful sunny day enjoying a glass or three on this pretty small, but wonderful patio. Cheers! read more

Its new location is in a modern facility with an outdoor patio area across from the Jack London Square ferry terminal. I first discovered Rosenblum Cellars on a Savor Oakland food tour. What impressed me the most was not the wine itself, but their commitment to wine accessibility and education in an urban setting. I live in Sacramento surrounded by countless regions and countless wineries competing for my dollar. The problem is, 99.9% of the wineries themselves aren't easily accessible to the average city dweller, making tastings a luxury reserved for those with time, money and hired transportation on their side. At Rosenblum, they are at least making a strong effort to bring the essence of what they do to the people. Our tasting consisted of three or four reds and was hosted by one of their winemakers. He was very informative about what goes into each glass. Not just the actual process, but the passion and philosophy of the winery itself. None of the wines fit my personal palette preferences, but they were all good for what they were. The "cellar" is an open, sparse and modern tasting room facing the water. There are plenty of items for sale besides the wine, but that is really the main draw. read more

08.13.2018 It was our last day of exploring in the Bay Area and we had yet to complete any wine tasting which was out of the norm because we are some wine-os (Yes, I used a made up word). Of course, I hit up the interweb to find some suggestions and after some trial and error with tasting option availability you see where we arrived at. Before catching an uber to the spot, I first called to ask a few questions. I wanted to make sure wine tastings were available on a Monday and the times. Also, how the wine tastings were conducted. From the website we noticed there were a few tasting options which were named "flights." The associate on the phone answered all of our questions. She stated that tastings were available for Mondays without a reservation. Also, each flight comes with preselected wines to taste and the prices start at $20. Any pairings. such as cheese and crackers are additional. The location is easy to find and sits upon the water right by the ferry in Jack London Square. There is ample seating both inside and out. If you decide to wine taste outside, I recommend bringing a jacket because the wind is no joke especially when by the water. It is self seating inside. After we took our seats, we were provided with a glass of still water and two wine glasses. We both decided on the duet flights which allows the tasting of 2 reds and 2 whites for $25 per person. We also added on cheese and crackers. I typically do not care for reds as I find them dry and much prefer white because of the sweetness but I am always open to new things. The server brought out 2 wooden holders with 4 glass bottles of wine which were enough for us to taste each one twice. We were also provided with an insert which gave the details, pricing, and description of each wine being sampled. The wines provided were: Rust Ridge Chardonnay 2016, Orogeny Chardonnay 2016, Rockville Zinfandel 2014, and Rutherford Vintners Cabernet Sauvignon 2015. My favorite of the four was the Orogeny Chardonnay 2016. I did not care for either reds but trust that I did not leave any wine behind. Lol. As we relaxed and sipped, I could not help but notice how popular of a spot the Rosenblum is. People sat around talking while enjoying glasses of wine with meat and cheese plates. As people departed, more entered. There was a study flow of patrons and it is evident that this is the after work spot to "wine" down. read more

I am going to confess that I am not a huge fan of Rosenblum wines. They seem to specialize in reds, and more specifically in Zinfandels, which I do not naturally favor in the first place. And the wines' high alcohol content seems to destroy any complexity and depth. If I was going to have a drink that packed such a punch, I would order a Scotch. The wine tastings are quite expensive for what you get; running about $20. However, the space is very inviting and I look at the high prices as the cost of admission to sit in a beautiful space and watch the ever changing sky and water show outside. read more

Ok. I'm not sure what was going on last Saturday night the 26th of January. But it was a long long wait. We sat at a dirty table and sofa for 25 min then we had to ask to be helped. Even though we had a reservation . It was different. The ambiance is nice . Beautiful sunset , the music blaring making it difficult to hear each other speak ...no offer of anything but wine or cheese or other platters . We saw our server once . And it was a race when we saw him a second time. I'm not sure if I'm going back. It was after fan fest for the A's so maybe they had a bad day.? Or a busy day and they just didn't care anymore ? Im so sad to leave Oakland because Rosenblum had become a daily habit! We'd arrive by noon and get a flight of their amazing selection of wines and charcuterie. Great atmosphere! Hidden gem, I've lived in the Bay Area my whole life and have never heard or seen this place. Super glad my friend took me here. She had a membership with them so it was all free except the bread and oil. But overall the prices were really good for what you get to try. If I could give Rosenblum Cellars zero stars, I would. The hostess was extremely discriminatory toward me and my trained service dog that is required for my ADA disability. She told me I was not allowed to have a service dog indoors, which is not only not true, but contradictory to the sign at the door that states service animals are allowed indoors. I don't really care about having to sit outside, but as I was walking outside, the hostess turned to a coworker and said "you can't have the damn dog indoors I don't understand what people don't get." When she finally came outside to give us a menu, we politely let her know that although we don't care to sit outside, it is illegal to discriminate against someone for their disability. The hostess then replied that she believed my dog is not a service animal because I don't have a physical disability that she could visually see. Again, I reminded her that service dogs provide a wide range of services and just because she can't see my disability doesn't mean that it's not legitimate and requiring a service animal. Again, the hostess pushed back, saying that my service animal was not leash trained (? She is.) and that since I didn't have a physical disability, my service dog wasn't allowed. She was extremely rude with her retort and walked off. To top it all off, after this exchange, the server didn't even come outside to take our orders or serve us. We sat outside for 15 minutes and we're not served. read more

Rosenblum is the best tasting room in Oakland! We moved to the area last year and since it's about a 7 minute walk from our place, it only made sense to sign up for the wine club membership! We end up there once a week or so. Great wines. Delicious snacks. Right on the water, so it has a great view. And the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. They make us feel so welcome every time we come in. We were looking for something fun to do for Father's Day - how bout wine tasting?! How bout Rosenblum?! They were able to accommodate our party of 10 with a week's notice no problem and put out a great spread. Our dads and guests were all impressed and definitely enjoyed the experience. Rosenblum is one of my favorite wine stops in Oakland. There is a ton of indoor seating and a wonderful outdoor patio overlooking the water. I love almost all of their wines but in particular I love their champagnes. I highly recommend getting their champagne flight. It includes 4 different types with two of them being very unique. Every time I'm'm there, the staff are absolutely wonderful. They're friendly and helpful. Their menu also includes snacks and plates as well as non-alcoholic options. I'm a wine member here and we love the wine. Their Zinfandels are delicious, our favorite is the Maggie's. Being a member gets you free tasting for 3 additional people and discounted glasses of wine and snacks. The snacks are generous portions. We've had a run in with a few servers who could have been better, but some of the servers are complete rockstars. It just depends who you get. Regardless the wine is delicious! read more
