The hotel mgmt took care of all of us in such a beautifully kind manner which allowed us to find some safety while the town was burning due to the car fires. The property is right on beach, has a family pool and adult swim area with hot tubs in both areas. We booked a hotel room that had a small pool access from the patio. They have 2 swim up bars, a children's play area, spa and an excellent workout room. I was told they will be renovating the hotel this summer 2026, which is needed in some areas, such as the spa. It was a very enjoyable visit other than the cartel action and I would stay here again if I come back to Puerto Vallarta.

The beach and views were nothing short of amazeballs, but I recommend going to a different beach if u want to wade in the water and do shoreline body surfing. The beach has too many rocks that could slice you up pretty badly! The hotel doesn't have self serve parking, so you are required to valet your car. The hotel is very close to many ships and restaurants, so you don't really need a car if you don't plan on exploring outside of the main city limits of Puerto Vallarta. Hotel staff are all very pleasant and accommodating and do their very best to ensure you have a wonderfully pleasant stay!!

But after seeing some of the mixed feedback now, I was honestly surprised. It seems like this place can be very hit or miss. Thankfully for us, it was definitely a hit. We were there for three nights, and overall had a great experience. Our main complaint would be the food, which we found to be mediocre overall, though there were definitely a couple of standouts. Next time, I'd skip the buffet except for the freshly made stations, which were the only part consistently worth it. We really enjoyed the teppanyaki at Tamari, and the fish and shrimp tacos from Blaze were so good we had them twice during our stay. On the other hand, dinner at Blaze was unremarkable and we were disappointed with the pizza and zeppole from Melanzane, though we didn't get to try anything else there. I do wish we had stayed an extra night or two to explore more of the dining options, though based on what we experienced, we may not have missed out on too much. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Special shoutout to Rafael at the club lounge bar and Lizbeth at reception - both were a pleasure and made our stay even more enjoyable. I was also surprised by the size of the gym and the variety of equipment. I made sure to get at least one workout in and really appreciated the incredible ocean views while doing so. We visited in February and never felt like the resort was overcrowded. In fact, some restaurants seemed surprisingly empty at times. One thing worth noting: they have pickleball courts and a basketball court, which we didn't see advertised anywhere. We would've packed our pickleball gear had we known, but fortunately they provide equipment you can borrow. They also offer activities throughout the day - we mostly enjoyed the evening bar shows. I'd definitely recommend downloading their app to keep track of the schedule and access other helpful hotel information like menus. Overall, this was a very enjoyable stay and a strong positive experience for us. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the dining experience didn't quite match the rest of the resort. The people above us seemed to be dragging furniture around frequently which was also noisy. * The property as a whole is pretty dated and needs some renovation. We checked out the Marriott which had nicer pools (infinity pools) and seems much less run down. We are well beyond thirty days and this is nonsense in 2026. I have since discovered on internet searches that this is a common problem with Gran Velas. This is extremely suspicious and likely a scam company - beware!

Currently , while at this property, the prices were comparable to Hyatt, however I feel Hilton's value doesn't deserve a price similar to Hyatt. The food isn't as good, sometimes some of the food would run out (bacon was always empty and papaya was not available daily).The options are wider at Ziva, more restaurants and more bars. Also, at times certain areas felt like a bottle neck at Hilton ( buffet and 4th floor elevators). Riu, to me always felt more economical. You get an awesome bang for your buck there. In terms of offerings, I feel Hilton is closer to Riu however they are charging a Hyatt Ziva premium. Hiltons cafe is not even apart of the all inclusive like Hyatt is. For the price, I choose Hyatt ziva, and even if Hilton reduced their price by 20%, I would probably choose Riu. I think Hilton needs to offer a little more at a lower price to be competitive.
