Food was overpriced and mediocre at best. They charged extra for to go orders and cause I paid with a card.

It's $1 extra for ToGo orders but instead of charging they should discount it; both times I've ordered ToGo food is never ready. They're quick to charge u but not to give u your food. When I placed my order they said it would be ready in 10min. So I gave it few extra minutes... stood there waiting for a while. Wouldn't be a big deal but they were 2 egg tacos... shouldn't take that long. And to top it off they gave me the wrong tortilla. I asked for corn but they gave me flour. The waitress, as she was handing me my order, said "they gave you the wrong tortillas. You want me to ask them to change them for you?" No girl y'all done took longer than promised already. I'd probably be another 20min waiting. (Didn't tell her this btw. Just my inner thoughts at the time). She was nice but I was already upset..So I took whatever the hell they decided to feed me. read more

Enjoyed our lunch here. We love eating local and found this place when visiting relatives. Everyone had something different fro enchiladas to chicken tacos to Birria tacos. The service was a little slow but we weren't in a rush. Like most places they are probably understaffed. There isn't even any competition in the area. If you are looking for authentic Mexican this is the place to go. Decently priced as well. I have had the tacos on the corn tortillas, which I think are homemade, and they are so full of flavor. Yummy.... I have had the taquitos as well and there we no complaints there. Most people I go with get the fajitas, they always look good I just am not a fajita person. If you are in the area and like Mexican food, you need to stop here. It doesn't look like much from the outside, or the inside but stop and try it. read more

If you are looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant, this is the place to go. The restaurant seemed to be family owned, the service was great and our waiter was very friendly. Food was fresh and came out very quickly. The only complaint I would have would be the salsas, they weren't very spicy and feel they could be better. Other than that, the food was great! No bueno! Someone take the salt shaker away from the cook. I've always said that I can judge a Mexican restaurant by their chips and salsa. In this case I was dead on. The red salsa was runny and boring. It was basically canned stewed tomatoes with WAY too much garlic salt. The green salsa had a flavor profile that I've never experienced before. Im thinking that stuff was well past it's expiration date. I ordered the Alambre. That's basically grilled beef, bacon, mushrooms, onions and bell pepper. However, I think the name is a conjunction of alarmed hombre. My stomach has been hitting the evac alarm ever since. The ingredients were good but it was excessively salty. The one waitress working had not bothered to refill my water glass either which left me to choke down my super salty supper with tiny sips of ice melt. Is it just me or is it time to cut fresh lines when all of the edges of the lines have turned brown? The tables and menus were sticky. The table condiments all had crusty tops. Not impressed with this place at all and will be looking elsewhere for tacos while I am here. read more

Always great & friendly service, usually pretty fast, clean facilities, excellent food (it's real Mexican food, not Tex-Mex). I like the red salsa while my hubby likes the spicy salsa verde. The queso is very rich & buttery if you like that (made with real cream). Excellent fajita chicken & white cheese enchiladas, fresh guacamole, and pork quesadillas (sometimes a little greasy)....I adore the chicken & shrimp fajitas!! For dessert one time I got the 1/2 flan 1/2 chocolate cake- it was rich & yummy. This place is a small hole-in-the-wall type of place with a comfy home-cooking feel to it, run by a very nice family. Well service to start off sucked ... chips were good but there salsa tasted like the Clorox smell or some crap gave it back .... the other salsa sucked .. so not sure how they have 4 stars unless the people rating it work there... food sucked didn't finish it gave it back but did pay for it!! Don't let the building miss lead you. True authentic Mexican food. I've never had a bad meal yet. Their Mexican rice is the best in Sulphur that's for sure and if you like avocado you should try the stuffed avocado. It's enough for two to share. Family owned and the nicest family staff. read more

We usually visit Louisiana once a year so this was our first time here. Very friendly service. Pricing is average on the plates. Tacos are over priced for items like potatoe and eggs. Tacos are a little small compared to what we get in Texas but did taste great. read more

We will never go back. There were ants on our table, the service was terrible, the fajita meat was tough, the cheese dip was gross and the "large" cup was barely half full. They "ran out" of booster seats and charged us $30 for 2 meals and a cheese dip. I will say that the guacamole that came with my fajitas was very good. read more

Great flavors for the food. Stingy on the 1/2 filled chip baskets and 2 salsas for 6 people. Service was lacking on the day we visited but it was my 1st time there and I hear it's not that bad. I wish I would have taken photos. This food is delish! Ok, its a little building. You walk in it's two ladies working there, (after 6PM, Monday) I feel they do everything. Wait, bring food, bust tables, maybe cook too..lol but they are super sweet. Me and my fiancé got fajitas for 2. All the meats w/shrimp. ONLY complaint is the beef had allot of fat..other than that...GREAT FLAVOR...OMG! I will be traveling from Lake Charles to Sulphur allot for this Mexican Spot. Also I would ask to keep cheese warm to have little warmers to keep cheese hot...sitting there it can get pretty rough when cold...lol but I we will be back soon...and don't forget the Mexican Soda...PINEAPPLE...YUMMY! read more

When I moved to Lake Charles a few years ago the food selections seemed dismal. After rooting around and doing some research I came across Rosita's and made the small trek to Sulphur. Now I'm wishing they had a Rosita's in every city!!! The tortas are like delicious pillows of love and made to perfection. They also make their own tortillas which is a plus in my book. Did I mention the salsa verde? No? Probably because I don't want you to get addicted to crack because that's what it tastes like. Liquid Crack My Friends!!!! All in all Rosita's is some of the best Mexican food in SWLA and the staff is friendly and inviting. Rositas continues to satisfy and accommodate our needs and we're becoming infrequent regulars. The sauces for the chips are great, my favorite is the tomatillo, and I typically ask for extra with my lunch since I'm fond of the sour nature of tomatillos and the last time I went it had a little more heat, which I love. Well the terrible reviews are correct...we thought we'd give it a try because we were starving, but that was a big mistake. Tiny, nasty little restaurant with bad service and meh food. We had to ask for menus, then drinks, and even forks. One tiny basket of chips and 2 little saucers of salsa for 5 people (& yes, we had to ask for that, too.) It was probably one of the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. There were guys drinking beer at the table next to us, so we at least tried to order a beer...waitress replied with "We don't sell beer here"...huh? Apparently if you want to drink anything besides water, tea or soda, you bring your own. Didn't even know that was legal but whatever. Three of us ordered fajitas, one ordered fish. One of the plates of fajitas was huge, the other two were tiny. Odd. Same price for all three. The fish filet turned out to be fish skin with about 1/8" of actual fish, completely covered in rice and beans. The beans were not even warm. Ugh. This place is a joke. I'm not being mean, just honest. I have no idea how they stay in business. You've been warned lol. read more

Best authentic Mexican food in SWLA, period.

This is our fourth time eating here. The food is always delicious but the service is hit and miss. We have sat for 20 minutes before being acknowledged. As I'm sitting here now, I can count 9 tables that need to be cleared off. They aren't busy at all. Including my table, there are five tables occupied. This restaurant really needs to step up their game as far as service goes. read more
