SHOCKING and APPALLING! I believe Avi Muhtar has acted despicably, unethically and unprofessionally…read moreby disclosing my full name WITHOUT CONSENT in his 2nd and 3rd Yelp responses, which in my view seriously undermined my PRIVACY and what I understood to be attorney client confidentiality and only confirmed my original review: PUNITIVE and UNSAFE attorney conduct. I believe disclosing my full name appeared designed to pressure and punish me into removing my review and it felt extremely VIOLATING, HARASSING and RETALIATORY. Yelp was notified. I've filed a complaint with State Bar. His 2nd Yelp response at 8:43 PM only had 1 line: "The above was posted by..."+ My full name. His 3rd response disclosed another detail of my case ALL WITHOUT CONSENT. My SCREENSHOTS were reported. I strongly believe no client should endure the EXTREME emotional distress I've experienced with this "personal injury attorney". Original Review: I'm completely shocked. I worked with Avi Muhtar for over 1.5 year. I have significant injuries. I believe he made an incredibly cold and cruel comment that in my opinion is the MOST ABUSIVE, chilling, harsh, SPITEFUL, ill-wishing and traumatizing comment anyone has ever said to me. The EXTREMELY HEARTLESS remark was made after I politely disagreed with withholding important details of what I believe was key evidence as it fully supported how and why the accident regarding a van door happened and also asked about an ER bill that the opposing counsel said in mediation was removed but wasn't. I even said I'll pay it and don't want to discuss further. I noted I want to take the rest of the week off after the mediation. He completely disregarded this simple boundary. I again asked for him to stop and even said what injuries I had to attend to. He continued. I asked him AGAIN noting it's escalating. He repeatedly ignored requests to cease communication. Despite the ER bill issue resolved, he sent another email that included a cruel remark. It came across as INDIFFERENCE to my well-being and read as ill-wishing. In my opinion, the heartless comment seemed intended to cause emotional distress. I had said I'll pay the bill. I believe there was no legitimate reason to continue. I also believe the chilling comment could cause emotional distress to any reasonable person. I would have preferred that level of AGGRESSION directed toward opposing counsel. In my opinion, based on his various stated reasons, the approach to including two important evidence was EXTREMELY WEAK and followed the path of least resistance rather than what best supported my case. Besides waiting over 1.5 year for details to come into evidence, I asked him multiple times - including weeks before mediation - to include them. Yet after mediation, when I said it should have been included, he said: "You did not say I want you to include it." I also believe making the mean hearted remark to anyone - let alone a client with significant injuries - is HIGHLY IRRESPONSIBLE. This PUNITIVE CONDUCT was not isolated to this incident. I had told him "I'm sorry you feel that way" reads as a passive-aggressive non-apology and if he did not intend a genuine apology, it's better to not use it. He continued to use it. The communication was fine as long as I agreed with what he did. When I politely disagreed however, his tone would shift and he would become DEFENSIVE. I even told him recently I was afraid to talk to him. After I respectfully shared my thoughts on his approach to communication and negotiation with opposing counsel prior to mediation - he showed dissatisfaction later saying: "You had a lot to say." I also experienced repeated blame-shifting, dismissiveness and deflection in my interactions with him including responses I consider GASLIGHTING. In contrast, my previous PI attorney I worked with for a year was kind and professional. As noted I have significant injuries. The accident itself was extremely traumatizing. Yet I believe the shocking comment by Avi Muhtar was MORE PSYCHOLOGICALLY HARMFUL. He also sent an email which I believe was to dangle something triggering meant to unsettle, then shut down clarity. In my opinion, this was also UNACCEPTABLE and taunting. He then made the cruel comment in his next email. In my opinion, it was THE MOST verbally and psychologically ABUSIVE and DAMAGING remark I've ever heard. He said after mediation that I'm a good person and during the time of working together he didn't feel he wanted the case to be over. It's surprising how sharing my thoughts prompted this type of extremely inappropriate response. In my opinion, his comment was extremely ABUSIVE and VINDICTIVE in content and tone, and it read as incredibly ill-wishing. I believe it reflected INDIFFERENCE TO PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFTEY - especially in the context of significant injuries. I believe many clients would find that kind of apathetic comment profoundly upsetting - especially after trusting a personal injury attorney.
