I can tell during my shopping experiences here that the workers seem genuine in their work. However I am disgusted by the people that enter this store every day and totally trash the place. I see fellow customers tossing items onto the floor and not picking them up. I see trash everywhere left by people and it sickens me how their is no respect for this establishment. The workers seem stressed as they manage it all short staffed and that really saddens me. The lines are so long and when you ask an employee they'll tell you that it's usually worse than that! You can find some good items in this store if you take your time to diligently search through their inventory. If you decide not to buy something just remember that once it's gone, it's gone. They don't keep a regular inventory of everything that they sell. Employees are helpful every time I come in here. They have high security staff and lots of video cameras everywhere to prevent shop lifting. I like that. You cannot take any of the shopping carts out of the store but they will offer to help load your merchandise into your car if you need help. The clothes and shelves in this store can get pretty cluttered and messy especially during the holidays because of the customers. It's a great store to visit if you are looking for a good deal on just about anything (home decor, shoes, kids toys, clothes, kitchen accessories, and traveling amenities.) read more

Ross has a nice selection & you can find some good deals. But Merced Ross made me mad & is filthy. I came into Ross when I was 9 months pregnant carrying a bottle of WATER & told me I had to throw it away or leave it outside & it was summer time. I notice people leave food trash in the shelves & other trash or opened drinks, which I dont no how they didnt catch them. But a bottle of water should always be allowed. 2nd THE BATHROOMS ARE DISCUSTING ! HIRE SOMEONE TO CLEAN!!! & DONT OVERSTOCK THE SHELVES & KEEP ISLE CLEAR SO YOU CAN PUSH THE BASKET DOWN THE ISLE. This is the most disgusting store you'll ever visit. It's dirty, inside and out, and the employees are so rude! The food aisle has bags and bags of gnawed open food packages. The rodents eat very well at this Ross store. You can see bite holes and scratch marks on the packages and rodent feces on the shelves...It's so disturbing. People are allowed to wait outside the doors and literally acost you as you enter or leave, attempting to sell what appears to be items from Ross (stolen/purchased?). Why Ross allows that, I do not know. It's such an unsafe atmosphere, as these people appear to be on drugs or drunk. When I went there to exchange an item, with my "night before from another Ross store" receipt, I was told that because my receipt was less than 24 hours old, that I would have to show my license or identification. My item had tags and everything on it still! The woman immediately in front of me (one of the people who tried to sell us a Ross blouse outside when we first arrived) had NO receipt for the blouse she returned with no problem, no questions asked. Sad thing...we watched her shove that blouse under her bottom (she was in a wheelchair) during our shopping trip and steal it!!! Yet she wasn't asked to produce a receipt or ID. I have no idea why this store still exists in Merced. If I ever go there again and get bit by a rodent, I'm suing. read more

This is probably the worse Ross around. A few weeks ago I came into the store and their loss prevention literally followed me around the store. I felt racially profiled and uncomfortable to the point where I just left my cart and walked out. This was extremely upsetting to me because two homeless/ suspicious individuals where in the store and they didn't even bat an eye at them. The customer service in the store is absolutely atrocious. If I could give this store a negative stars I would. They also have a "no food or drink" policy but they pick and choose who they enforce it with. Their store is so messy and disgusting. One of the dirtiest, chaotic and disorganized Ross stores I have ever seen: and I have been to a number of them all throughout the country. Last night when I happened to go there, I was told by the cashier at checkout that they were "out of bags"! So you expect customers to carry their pile of purchased merchandise in their arms? I told her that was not acceptable and asked to see the manager, who just perfunctorily repeated the same thing, adding insult to injury by saying "you're more than welcome to purchase a bag". It's better to visit the Turlock or Low banos location! This store is disgusting, so disorganized, the staff doesn't clean, the bathroom is filthy and smelled like straight urine! The dressing rooms are filthy no moping the walls and benches are dirty. It was extremely hot, other customers were complaining as well. Worst shopping experience there! read more

I avoid the Merced, CA Ross and wait to go to others since they won't clean it up. Must need a new store manager as even if s/he is not given funds to fix things that does not answer why they will not clean the place...floors are nasty, etc. Suggest shoppers go to another Ross, if able to travel. read more

The security guard with the curly hair a bit more dark skin I bealive his name was messal I'm not sure but he needs to be trained proper Instead of harrasing me he should be worried about the robberies that are happening instead of following rules because I had a water bottle specially because right after I told him I was just going to check if they had a cologne which was located in the front of the store he was still been a douche so I told him ok I'll leave it outside and he said I'm not sure I literally just walked out because his whole Exsistence got on my nerves Ross really needs to train there employers more properly like ok I get rules are rules he should of said look that's fine but next time please don't bring a water bottle inside that's it instead of been a huge douche the fact I even left and said I just wanted to check if you had a certain perfume and he had no response was 100 times more anything read more

Great deals but it's pretty dirty and I seen little bugs and roaches crawling on the racks by the women's shoes. That really freaked me out. Customers are really ghetto and they have kids screaming and running through the store ruining your shopping experience but I understand that's out of employees control. Also a few employees treat you as if you are a criminal even if you don't look it. Most employees are very friendly tho. read more

You can always find a good deal here but the store is so messy! There are items on the floor and the boxed items are open most of the time! I feel like the workers there are burned out and have absolutely no motivation to do well in their jobs which is why they are very rude. I have been to this store quiet a few times and the workers are always rude that seems to never change. If the store was a bit classier and their employees more motivated I would probably buy more stuff from them but as off right now I think I will be taking my money to Marshalls or TJ max. read more

I went to this store , with my iced tea in my hand and was asked to throw it out or go because they "don't allow food or drinks in the store " , I left because Ross wasn't that important to me and I would've much rather enjoyed my tea I just purchased . I understand each store has their policies , however it is three digit weather - and that is just ridiculous!!!! Since I'm on here leaving a review, I just might add the horrible customer service . It has the best selection of stuff compared to other Ross's but it is so dirty and all over the place I rather not even look. The employees are nice but, everyone who shops there are so rude. There are so many homeless people that will follow you to your car and stand right outside the door. The best time to go is in the mornings during the week. read more

I love this place! Always a bargain. I like the new store hours 8:30-10:30 makes it convenient. The place is a little messy and busy so I always prefer to come right when it opens. Have found great items. read more

Selection here isn't as good as the other Ross' I've shopped at. But I always manage to find that one golden item I can't not buy.

They still have good deals if you are ready to face the ghetto.. there is lots of Ross stores that are nice and I love going to them this location by far is the worst Ross I've gone to. Even Turlock has a much nicer one not far definitely worth the drive!! read more

I usually find name brands here for 50% less than other stores. It's a pretty good deal. I like to go early so that I can beat the rush. Later in the day it gets kind of busy. They have both men and women's fashions, and I rarely leave without finding something very nice. read more

I feel like I am at a flee market when I am there. It is so messy. Maybe because of other customers not caring. But everytime I'm there, I get mad at myself for returning. I want this to be a good store. But messy, bad careless employees and items that is explained to me by signs, that I may get cancer kinda blows it for me. That may of been hazardous to your health due to lead. Something crazy like that. Glad those signs are there! read more
