Kevan-the manager was courteous, efficient, and professional, even though the store was busy. I appreciated his hard work. He ran a register, tidied up carts, worked as the dressing room attendant, and greeted customers as they walked in the store on a busy Saturday morning. I do not live in Kansas and am just passing through, but having shopped other Ross stores in other busy areas of the US, I was pleasantly surprised to find the clothing I was looking for hanging in the appropriate sizing areas and not on the floor. Unfortunately, I had forgotten my phone in my car so I couldn't take pictures of this place but I think I may go back just to take pictures and post them on here because simply telling you how awful it is will not do it justice! You truly cannot appreciate how disorganized, messy, gross and disgusting this store is unless you see picture proof. If somebody had told me that a tornado hit it I would've believed them. I would've also believed that it was perhaps going out of business. I would have also believed that it was secretly a garage sale, or perhaps that somebody had come in and just pushed things off of shelves and displays in a fit of rage for funsies. There was literally a mirror in the middle of the floor on an aisle where people should be able to walk. I also spotted a broken glass jar of something on a low shelf. This place is just begging to be either condemned or be sued by multiple people when they trip over things and break their legs and/or accidentally scrape cut open glass and get hurt and need a tetanus shot. I frequent all the Ross dress for less stores in the area because they have great stuff for an affordable price. This particular Ross probably has the best selection, but is one of the messiest. The service from the cashiers can be touch and go. Some times they're nice but many times they are not particularly friendly. I stopped at this Ross on the way home from dinner fairly late, and I was surprised by all the great finds I discovered! I will say, the store was messy, but I guess that would be expected on a Friday night around 10. I went in to look for a bench, and found one for under $100, it was honestly a steal! Terrible quality. Suitcase was used once within 24 hours of me going on my vacation wheel broke return was not able to happen because I did not have a receipt. I did have my electronic statement on my card, I called and talked to a manager on the phone within 10 minutes of me coming into the building a different manager said that I was not able to do that, even though I just talk to a manager about it that gave me the okay to come in to get store credit. I would go to Ross (any Ross) more if the checkout process wasn't always so slow. This store could use a little clean up (or at least on the day I was there). There were several broken and otherwise damaged items that should have been weeded out and either marked waaaay down or thrown away. Dressing room lady was very rude and demanding. I came up polite with my items. I've been a retail manager for years and that's the last way you should act towards a customers (especially if the customer has been polite). The Ross I've been to in other cities were worse than thrift stores--so chaotic and dirty, I thought I'd never step foot into another. This one, in comparison, is neat and had a pretty good selection. The staff is another story. I went in the middle of the day on a Monday and there was one sales clerk and six to eight people in line. She did as little interacting with the customers as possible. Eventually, another sales clerk opened a register. She balled my items up in the bags and in general was pretty careless with my items. They definitely need customer service training to be better than just ok. read more

I actually like Ross! I have bought 3 purses from Ross stores (and counting. The first one was from the Olathe store.) They have a huge selection of purses in every price range you can imagine. While I was there I also browsed their clothes, linens, and housewares. Wonderful stuff and very affordable. I will be back! read more

Stopped in tho get a back up charger for my phone, I'm the only person in line and was told by the manager who was flirting with a cashier to wait for the other cashier who was processing a return, stood in line for the next 5 minutes while the other 3 cashiers were doing tasks. Your job is to take care of customers and not blow them off. Skip this location and go somewhere else, store is clean but empty. POOR customer service!!! When my cousin and I went(10 and 11 ) we were doing gymnastics and none of the employees said anything. Then there's as this guy he would follow my cousin and I everywhere. We would be in an isle and he would follow us. We would go to a different isle he would be there just watching us. We never had the courage to tell the employees but we did tell our parents. I'm actually 'edging up' to two stars; one for each employee that was helpful and friendly. It's a good thing I'm not deducting stars for the rudeness of the other employees, including one who appeared to be a manager! There also weren't many items to choose from in any department. It had the least selection of any Ross I've been. I experienced almost the same thing as Tony B. The 'manager' told me it would be 'just a minute' after I finally asked if a cashier was open. I'd already waited for a few minutes with no acknowledgement. Finally, the returns cashier said she'd be happy to help me, (she'd been busy with another customer) and even offered assistance to my vehicle; the young man who greeted me (security, I imagine) was also the one who helped me to my car. Again agreeing with Tony B, skip this store and find another. I've been to Ross stores all over, from Georgia, to St. Louis, to Independence, MO, and California; not one was this rude, let alone had such a lack of STUFF and seemed so dirty. I can only give this place two stars because they do have a decent selection of home decor for a great price. Other than that the place looks like it is about to close every time I have gone in the racks are bare and nothing is in order or sized properly. Nobody acknowledged me in the store except for the fitting room attendant she was very kind. The fitting rooms were disgusting dust and trash all over the floor. The bathrooms were even worse it did not look like they had been tended to you in quite some time. Put soap on my hands only to find that the water just trickles out of the faucet. I love the great deals I get at Ross on 95th street in Overland Park Ks. What I dread is the customer service! Always one open register and 15 to 25 people in line. Which I'm not sure how Ross operates, but while shopping I see many employees running around all over the back of the store . They never ask if they can help you and if you ask them they make no eye contact and point to the direction you should go. If this is customer service , I see know customers being serviced! I keep hoping corporate will keep an eye on this particular store and improve this. Once at the register employee yells " NEXT" but never looks up at the customer. I have tried numerous times to shop here because I know I can get a few great deals , however, it's honestly not even worth it because if you do find a great deal after digging through the most unorganized place I've ever been to .... then you'll stand in line for an hour and because I have a toddler I have only successfully purchased from here twice because it's just too long of a wait for a $10-$20 item that I can get across the street for 5-$10 more. They never have enough people on registers (I have seen 2 cashiers max when it's busy) and when it's your turn to check out, they don't even talk or look at you. I have been going to this Ross since it opened and generally am very happy there. I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars here, because I like their products and they are affordable. Unfortunately, I needed to take my very young son on this trip so we could purchase him some new shoes. Most people know, when young kids are involved, there typically needs to be a distraction, and bribery, so I bought him a small iced hot chocolate and off we went. At some point, my son spilled his very limited amount of hot chocolate on the floor, and not on any items. I immediately reported it to the manager for clean up. The manager there immediately chastised me for having a drink in the store. I understand his position, but also, he's 2, and I have to wonder if he'd rather my son cry or fight in and out of aisles with breakable items. Sometimes you just have to choose your battles and not give someone a hard time when they are doing the best they can. I certainly don't feel welcome there any longer, and I definitely don't want to spend money in a place that has no grace. What happened to customer service? What happened to treating a customer like a customer? It was the manager! I was very disappointed with the Customer Service at this location. I had purchased a pair of boots in November and there was no reason for me to keep neither the receipt nor the tag from the boots because I absolutely adored them. I wore them in January and noticed that my left foot began to hurt by midday and I thought that was rather strange. When I took the boot off, I realized that the left size was smaller than the other. I took them back to the store and explained this to Cody, the manager on duty and he told me unless I had a receipt or the tag, there was nothing that he could do for me. I found that rather disturbing. He was also rather rude and loud and would not provide me his last name. Of course I was disappointed that the boots were sized inappropriately and I was even more frustrated that he told me that there was nothing he could do for me. Today, February 6, 2015, I telephoned the District Manager, Fanmi Popoola and he reiterated that there was nothing that could be done since I did not have the receipt or the tag. I indicated that there had to be some way that they could track my purchase to confirm that I bought the boots at their store and give me some kind of in store credit or provide some type of customer service. He again said that there was nothing that he could do. With technology, I find that very hard to believe that they had no way to track my purchase and provide me something for my inconvenience. I left the boots at their store because there was nothing that I could do with them. As much as I thought I loved Ross, I'm extremely disappointed in their customer service. I will not patronize this store again because of one cashier. She had an open register. When I walked up, she walked away to help another cashier. I've worked retail in the past and have great empathy for anyone working in any type of customer service position. I waited patiently for her to return. I was shocked while still at the other register she looked directly at me and said, "And you, I did not tell you to come." She was extremely rude. I asked for her name which she replied was none of my busy. When I asked again, she gave me a fake name. She proceeded to get even more rude by yelling at me and stating that I was being rude to her just because I walked up to her register with out her telling me that I could do so. The other employees were really very nice, professional, and apologetic for this employee's actions.
