It also felt nicely separated from the dog park, which made it more comfortable for families with young kids. The only downside was safety-related: there weren't many safety rails in certain areas, and there were several large gaps where a small child could easily slip or fall. There were also some unexpected gaps at floor level near entrances that felt a bit concerning for little ones. Make sure to keep an eye your kids here and be an arm length away since they can fall and hurt themselves pretty easily. Overall, it's a great park with a lot to offer, but adding more safety rails and closing some of those gaps would make it feel much more kid-friendly and secure. According to the historical marker placed at this site, "In 1902 Marion Jefferson Blackwell purchased 360 acres from the State of Nevada, 556 acres of adjoining land from Sweeney's Hot Springs and a lot with a house. He raised carp and catfish to sell commercially also hay and horses. Neighbors used the ponds for swimming and ice skating. Born 1847, in Hall County, Georgia he married Nancy Amna Mayes in 1866. While living in Jamestown, California his wife died. He then moved the family to the Carson Valley near Genoa in 1895. He married Martha "Mattie" H. Willey in Yerington in 1899, then moved to Eagle Valley in 1902. He resided here till his death in 1914. His descendants continue to live in the area." Besides its rich history, the park is a small neighborhood park with a covered picnic area, a small playground, and a--I want to say walking path but it's not because it literally goes no where into the grass (srsly why is this here?), so we'll just say--some concrete. Although it's now just mostly a manicured lawn, there are still remnants of the pond in the form of two sloughs that flank the park. Cattails and blackbirds abound! Be careful where you step here, because it's difficult to discern where the ground and water meet. Also, apparently someone was murdered here in 2016 over a drug deal done awry. So, maybe avoid the place at night.

Other places, like Preston, it's not necessary. When friends are in town and have kids that need to burn off energy and we have already done the beach / hiking thing, then this is another option. The grounds are gorgeous and there are plenty of nice equipment for the knee biters to go screaming around while adults can go off and have adult conversations that include lots of curse words, ranting and raving or reminiscing about the good old days when they were much younger and more apt to do things that they could have been arrested for (this is all hypothetical, mind you).

Very small, but we were here off season (just the way I like it) and other than one other family, it is just us "two" here. So a private beach, lol. We are hosting our friends today. Showed them our free local parking spot. Gave them a quick tour of this area and all of Incline. A short 1.5 walk on the beautiful and easy Tahoe East Shore Trail. Just be careful of all the ebikes that do NOT have full control of their bikes or themselves. It would be nice if there was a separate bike path, or only allow manual bikes on the walking paths...? Atmosphere - Again, a very small, NOT so hidden beach. A nice stop/break from the 3 mile walk. Approximately the half way mark from Incline to Sand Harbor. Restrooms nearby, but I can NOT recommend them. More like outhouses with NO sink to wash your hands. Easy walk or bike ride. Fairly easy, very short walk/hike to each path. Service - Self service.
