It's never the intent to run down somebody's business but sometimes this is the only way to hold folks accountable. In this case, I'm sharing my experience because I was advertised a service that this business does not have expertise in and charged $800+ for unfinished work that should take an expert 30 minutes to do. I had a reasonably good experience working with Tammy on our tax returns. They were simple and she handled the only bit of complexity adequately. Then I requested her help with modeling post-tax cashflow for a potential business scenario. We had 2 phone conversations about this. On both those conversations, I walked her verbally through how I expected the calculation to proceed and she confirmed my understanding. I needed to model post-tax cashflow, and I further described this request in writing when I uploaded files to her system. Tammy charged me more than $800 and produced a sloppy calculation of pre-tax cashflow that did not even consider the interest deduction (which I had also explained to her on our calls). To make it clear: I was charged $800+ for a spreadsheet that was incomplete and inaccurate. When I pointed this out, Tammy said that "the invoice is accurate based on your communications to me regarding the project.". Insanely bad experience. read more
