From the African Hunting Dogs on the shores of the Zoo to the notches in the bridges from ropes once used to pull the boats, Mike knew about it all and had great stories to go along with it. The rate he charges for a private two person tour is incredibly reasonable. If big crowds aren't your cup of tea I highly recommend this tour. I imagine larger tours would be fine too - but the personalized attention and spacious accommodation was perfect for us. Bravo Mike - on our short trip to London we only did one "tourist"-y thing and it was your trip, and we couldn't have made a better choice. It was beautiful, educational, fun, and extremely memorable.

For the fishing trips, the company go out five times a day, seven days a week, from March to November (providing the weather isn't too rough). Each trip lasts for a duration of 90 minutes which is ample time to catch enough mackerel for your tea (and probably enough to last you through the week!). The cost is £20 per head (£10 for spectators) and this included the use of fishing rods and bait. Its quite a simple technique and the boys on the boat will help you reel in the fish and kill them if you get stuck. The killing is a little gruesome but I believe its an important thing to do if you want to follow the process through from start to finish. It was maybe a little crowded on the boat which led to the lines becoming entangled on occasion. But its a fun way to spend a couple of hours, especially when the sun is shining and the seas are calm. I brought home seven mackerel, a pretty good catch. And being able to eat fish that was swimming in the sea just a few hours before is a true delight.

Also appreciated some hints on what to see and do in Greenwich, which was not on our radar screen. But really glad we went there... The observatory was cool, and lots of nice restaurants and pubs. Definitely would recommend this again. Only downside was at some of the passengers had poor manners... Woman in front of us changed her young child clothing, which I really did not need to see.

The 3 kids was not well behaved and the parents did little to get them to behave. The boat was crowded at this point and moving to another seat was not an option. The views of the city from the water were great and well worth the price of the ticket. But, the narration did not add much value to the tour. And we could have done without the kids.

The meeting point was easy to find and conveniently located near central London (we met across the street from the Museum of Natural History) at 7:30 AM. We departed shortly after as scheduled. Our tour guide Sinead and driver Richard were fabulous! My main complaint is the bus itself. The seats were very uncomfortable! Secondly, the bus did not have windows, and that day it was so hot in London (80 degrees F/26.6 degrees C), but the air conditioning was not working. We were basically baking inside the bus for 2 hours back from Stonehenge to London! The Stonehenge was beautiful! Definitely a must see!

My niece had the most spectacular 16th birthday, that she said she will never forget thanks to this amazing charter boat service. As there was not much difference in price he opted to book us on the 2 hour trip. Below decks there's a bar/tearoom and toilets. Most people opted to sit on the top deck. This has plastic seating in the first 5 rows and the back rows have padded seats. Although it was a sunny day, it was cold whilst we were sailing - had I known we were going to do a river trip I wouldn't have worn a sun dress as I got quite cold! It was a pleasant trip. Commentary was via a pre-recorded cd talking about the sights and history to be seen along the bankside and it's quite fascinating to see all the lovely houses on the waters' edge. We asked for tea and cakes which was brought to us by the Captain's 'mate' a pleasant young lady with hair dyed green! It was an enjoyable trip aside from the fact that I'd taken my 5 year old granddaughter for whom the trip was just too long. She enjoyed going through the Bray Lock gates but at that age they don't understand the incredible engineering and history behind it. I would definitely recommend a river cruise if you want a relaxing afternoon but do take a blanket or some warm clothes!
