Pack your lawn chairs, inflatables, beach towels, lunch and sun glasses.
Less then an hour northwest of Edmonton Whitecourt's Rotary Park has a fun packed day in store for you.
Comparable to Discovery Canyon in Red Deer Alberta. Only the drive is much easier as the mostly two lane divided highway has way less congestion making the trip that much more relaxing. Also the rotary park features a way cool playground, splash park, the lazy river ride, and swimmable man made lake which is also stalked with fish. This place is fun for the whole family.
The playground is huge and has some pretty cool parts that I haven't seen before like some type of musical instruments for the kids to play and a massive two story slide like the one in Sherwood Park. The splash park is pretty standard. Both the shining star in this park is definitely the lazy river. This river is lined with a thick plastic tarp. We saw many kids sliding down it without tubes so if you don't have any your still able to enjoy a fun ride down the slopes. The water is fairly shallow but is a little deeper at the bottom maybe a foot and a half at its deepest part. Along the man made pond we saw several people with fishing poles. Lots of fishes but didn't look like many fish were being caught.
There is a small shack that offers ice cream and snacks like a hot dog and chips but it's not cheap so I would suggest bringing your own snacks. You can also buy a inflatable tube if you forgot yours at home. Unfortunately there is no where to flow up your tubes so be sure to do this ahead of time. We lucked out and found a local lady that let us use her electric blower to inflate ours.
There are toilet facilities but these are limited so there are also some portapoties on site.
This place definitely offers a full day of fun in the sun so come prepared with all your necessities. read more
