This record store is a real gem. Everything is so well curated, the dollar bins are incredible. I can't compare this to so many other stores because they really take care to make sure that what they have on the shelf is of good quality whether it's new or used. The neighborhood is also awesome. I live in the US so maybe I was a bit star struck when I visited but I can't recommend this place enough. The people working here were also very friendly and helpful. read more

Boo, this place. First of all, this is the one place I went during my trip to Toronto where the guy running the store did not give a shit if anyone came into his store or left. There was a guy who came in trying to sell some records who he did the transaction with, but refused to talk to him. But this isn't my biggest complaint about this place. That would have to be: 1. The lackluster supply/lack of variety and 2. The organization/cleanliness Ok, so maybe cleanliness is a stretch since it is a record store, however, almost every record here is sorted by alphabetical order in the same collection, and literally just by letter. For example, I'm looking through the A's and it goes: Arctic Monkeys, AC/DC, another Arctic Monkeys record, a bunch of other records, then towards the back end, another AC/DC record. With the exception of rap and hip hop and a couple blues and jazz records, everything is just sorted all together, and the records are packed in so tight that it makes it hard to look through them without having to basically peel them apart. Oh and another thing. New record or not, EVERYTHING is stored in plastic sleeves. Go to literally any other record store in Toronto if you're in the area, I promise it will be much better than this one. read more

While in Toronto, I always liked to do a little record shopping! I usually go to Sonic Boom, but this trip I thought I would venture out into the city a bit more and see what the locals loved.. I kept asking friends, dj's, and Yelp where I should go and most of them kept saying Grasshopper.. So I had a meeting then took an Uber towards Grasshopper (I will review that store soon) while on the way there I saw Rotate This out of the window of the Uber and I said you can just drop me here, knowing I was close! WOW I get into Rotate This and I'm in my new favorite Record Store in Toronto and one of my favorite ever! Before to long I have a stack of ten records in my hands.. A new release from Kiwi Jr. (Toronto band and front runner of LP of the Year) to bootlegs from Badfinger and ELO. Used stuff from Cohen, to Bright Eyes, to special edition Spritualized lps! Im loving this store so much I can't get enough.. So I tell myself the American Dollar is quite strong right now in Canada so it's ok to drop 175 dollars on records in this one store... And it was... Staff was sweet, and very happy I was so happy! And set me up with a bag that was good for flying home with. Flying home with records is a pain, but it was well worth it! THIS STORE RULES! read more

So fresh and so clean that you can still smell the new coat of paint, Rotate This! is now located at Dundas and Ossington. I am absolutely in love with the way that this place is organized. The new records are located within the perimeter of the store, listed in alphabetical order. The specialty genres (hip-hop, jazz, world, etc.) have their own dedicated sections and are equally easy to peruse. It's honestly everything you can ask from a record store. It's well organised, brimming with variety, and the prices ain't too bad either. For vinylheads both old and new, I definitely have to recommend it. read more

Easily as good if not better prices than anywhere else in the city. And the location is far roomier (& more visually appealing) than the previous one on Queen St W. Is further from my condo @ Church/Adelaide than previously which generally curtails me from walking but that's not insurmountable (& beneficial to West Enders). Good selection in my usual indie/alternative genre although can be a little sketchy in terms of some of the UK bands (often only available on import) that I favour. In the past they haven't usually been inclined to order these for the customer. And of course they carry concert tix (s/c around 10% of face which easily destroys the Ticketmaster gouge) thus ensuring periodic visits. Frankly used to be bothered by some of the haughty attitude & questionable interpersonal skills of certain staff - but over the years have learned who I like to deal with & who I don't. And this has seemed to diminish recently with staff turnover or maybe I've just become more recognizable. read more

I'm not a vinyl person, but a close friend who comes to see me every few months is and when she asked me about the LP scene here in the Big Smoke I immediately thought of here. Formerly on Queen West, it was a block away from my apartment, so I had seen it many a time and gone in exactly zero times. Turns out (get it? That was bad, I know ) it is everything you'd want in a record store and more. The selection is incredible, and the condition of the product is amazing. This is not your old lord store with jackets falling apart and scratches on the actual vinyl, everything here is top notch. They have a great selection, knowledgeable staff and new music that is at this point, actually more difficult to find on CD! Prices are a bit high, but I feel that's more because it's vinyl then particular to this store. New location is just as cool, and they have a big bench sofa in the front for those who are not shopping to sit and relax. They also carry VICE magazine which is of course FREE. Terribly disappointed with the conversation I had on the phone today with whomever works at this store.... After spending a weekend in Ottawa and inquiring about a specific title, I was told that I should check out Rotate This in Toronto... Oh Happy Days...I called to find out if they had it, explaining that I had been recommended to come to them to get the CD... The first thing he told me was " We don't sell CDs " and after asking if he could order it he said " I dont recognize it and will not order it "... I hope he has a better in the store deportment than he does on the phone... His 'tude was poor to say the least and I will never set foot into this business. read more
