While in Toronto, I always liked to do a little record shopping! I usually go to Sonic Boom, but this trip I thought I would venture out into the city a bit more and see what the locals loved.. I kept asking friends, dj's, and Yelp where I should go and most of them kept saying Grasshopper.. So I had a meeting then took an Uber towards Grasshopper (I will review that store soon) while on the way there I saw Rotate This out of the window of the Uber and I said you can just drop me here, knowing I was close! WOW I get into Rotate This and I'm in my new favorite Record Store in Toronto and one of my favorite ever! Before to long I have a stack of ten records in my hands.. A new release from Kiwi Jr. (Toronto band and front runner of LP of the Year) to bootlegs from Badfinger and ELO. Used stuff from Cohen, to Bright Eyes, to special edition Spritualized lps! Im loving this store so much I can't get enough.. So I tell myself the American Dollar is quite strong right now in Canada so it's ok to drop 175 dollars on records in this one store... And it was... Staff was sweet, and very happy I was so happy! And set me up with a bag that was good for flying home with. Flying home with records is a pain, but it was well worth it! THIS STORE RULES!

Done its share of moving around the city, multiple locations. Easily one of the best in the city; I was more a customer back in the queen west days; more I could care less about vinyl, but if you do, come here! I'm so glad tape's, cds and records are modernized, I don't care if vinyl sounds' better', scratches and warping are annoying.

    Cool sign on the outside!

Great selection, decent prices, whenever they feel like opening hours. Save the headache and hassle by ordering from Amazon!

One of two dvd rental establishments I am aware of in Toronto, I applaud its mission to bring choice to cineastes and to sell physical media to collectors. That's where my admiration ends. This business is run more like a hobby than a serious enterprise. First of all the hours are not posted to my knowledge. There IS an open/closed sign to be fair, but you'll be hard pressed to know when OPEN will be displayed. If you're someone who likes surprise and allowing your shopping efforts to be shaped by serendipity then this is the shop for you. I've attended a few of the Video Store Day sales where hours were posted in advance on social media and was left waiting for the owner to arrive past the indicated opening time. Not much mind you, say 15-20 minutes, but if you're promoting a major sales event, wouldn't it make sense to show up when advertised? Rental selection is pretty good. Lots of obscure gems but the discs I've rented in the past looked like they had been skated on. I rented once and that was it. The store makes an attempt to look cultish and cool, but ends up having that last day of a garage sale vibe. Used discs are strewn in boxes on the floor and in no special order on the shelves. New product is appealing but the owner has taken to not putting prices on the discs. In the past I've paid more than I would have at a competitor's or if I had bought the disc from the production company directly. Again, if you like serendipity its a great experience. What you are paying is always a surprise. On the upside they have a great t-shirt selection if you want to show your allegiance to cult and classic film. Nice designs on quality shirts. You can also find some obscure zines and books that are locally produced and worth the effort of coming by. For new releases or rentals I prefer to shop at their competitor on Bay. This shop could be so much more with a serious attitude to retail.
