Chris was genuinely interested in learning about my husband and made some wonderful recommendations to us that enabled us to say goodbye to him in a way that honored him both in life and death. Losing someone you love can be very traumatic and it is hard to think clearly when making decisions about final arrangements. Chris made the entire process seamless, explaining everything along the way, giving us flexibility in our choices, and helping us curate an experience that fit my husband. Through their support, my husband's viewings and preparations were executed in a way that honored his true personality and life- all of which were ideas that they provided to us. I can't say enough great things about how Wagner-Elfner handled it all. Even when I made a last minute decision to have my husband interred at a church, they quickly pivoted to support my wishes. All of the staff has been extremely supportive, kind, and patient throughout this process. The attention to detail, communication, and coordination has been superb. I've been to other funeral homes in my life where everything was cookie cutter and there were sometimes two or three viewings happening at the same time. This doesn't happen at Wagner-Elfner. They focus on one family at a time which gives everyone who is grieving the space they need to visit with loved ones and start to heal. I would 100% recommend Wagner-Elfner to any family who finds themselves in need of final services for their loved ones. Thank you to the entire Wagner-Elfner family but especially Chris Boggs who stood by us throughout this entire journey.

Save yourself the heart I endured. I usually never write…read morereviews but when it comes to Harkins Funeral Home and My mom I'm making an exception. My mom passed away March 18,2025 after home hospice for 2 1/2 months. Sadly she died at 11:15 pm and I didn't know who to call so knowing Harkins Funeral Home was local I had hospice call them and ask for her to be pickup. . It started out okay they went and picked her up and I went the next day to make my arrangements. While in the meeting with Mr Lovelidge the owner, I found him to be very arrogant and excited to talk about himself also mentioning he would never hire a women to do his job as they weren't dedicated enough. The subject came up about how many siblings I had. I informed him I had two brother which hadn't had contact with my mother for years. Both living out of state. I explained that my younger brother would more than likely be willing to sign the cremation form however; I told my older brother would not. He never made mention that if my older brother didn't sign that he would not cremate my mom and in fact after finding out my older brother refused, Mr Lovelidge threatened to charge me to keep my mother there each additional day on top of the charge I already paid on my credit card. He said "we'll have to bury her". Crying and pleading with him not to bury her as her last wishes were to cremated. He said "I'm sorry but we can't just keep her here and it's a shame you have a brother like that". That being a moot point after making clear I wanted a direct cremation and nothing else. I thought he was going to allow me to see my mom and he never offered. When I asked if I could just pick my mother's body up he said sure but "I won't put my career on the line and I won't sign the death certificates which you have to have". Finding out that Maryland was a Majority Sign meant I could take her to a Maryland Funeral home and have just my younger brother agree. Mr.lovelidge was obviously angry and was short on the phone saying fine have another funeral pick up. I then called crying in a panic Schimunek Furneral Home and spoke a wonderful funeral director named Melissa. She was not only willing to be kind enough to get involved but assured me that my signature and my younger brother's signature was enough and my mother's last wishes would be honored. In trying to get refunded from Harkins not only was I not fully refunded with the exception of them picking her up and keeping for 36 hours they charged and additional $480 for "Professional Services" when trying ask what that meant Mr Lovelidge blocked my phone and handed the problem to his wife. Patty was unable to give any explanation as to what professional service were other we met with her husband for 40 minutes and listen to how wonderful he was according to himself. As my request for direct cremation took minutes. When speaking to Schimunek funeral home they explained they got pushback when they went to get my mom but stood their ground and retrieved body for me. Loving and heartbroken Daughter.
