I took it to the guys at Ringwood Jewellers, and for a good price they did a fantastic job cleaning up the ring, bringing it back to its original sparkle and glory. They also did an evaluation on the ring, and were happy to have a chat with me about it, as they didn't get vintage stuff like that it everyday. Since then these guys have resized rings for us, and on one occasion fixed my watch. I found the watch fixing price a little steep, as it was only in need of a small part, however they went ahead and gave my watch a good clean up as part f the service too, something I wouldn't get it I had gone for a cheaper option.

I took my antique Art Deco diamond ring to Waterdale Jewellers to have it resized so I could wear…read moreit on my ring finger. I thought I had chosen a jeweller who would be able to successfully perform this task for me. After consultation with Stephen and input from Meagan, I was informed that it would not be possible to enlarge the ring due to its design. The alternative they offered was to make the ring smaller so that it would fit my pinky finger. As it would still be too large, they advised that adding gold balls into the inner band would this ensure that the ring would fit my pinky finger properly. I wasn't keen on this but they explained that it was the only way that I would be able to wear my ring. I left the ring with them so it could be sized down and have gold balls added to ensure a firm fit. I received a phone call informing me my ring was ready to be tried on so they could work out the size of the gold balls that needed to be added. I was attended by Meghan who asked me which finger the ring was going to be worn on, she then went and had a discussion with Daniel.  They both returned and I was told that they could not add the gold beads due to the design of the ring, and yet they had already gone ahead and made my ring smaller! They had in fact made my antique ring unwearable. I cannot comprehend why they commenced to make my ring smaller when they knew it had to have the gold beads inserted to enable me to wear it, they both apologised and said that it had never happened to them before, yet it happened to me. I found a jeweller specialising in antique jewellery who was able to make my ring larger, thus allowing me to wear it on my ring finger.  A task that Waterdale Jewellers failed so miserably to do. Meaghan informed me that they wouldn't charge me for the resizing, considering they had made the ring unwearable I certainly would not have paid them. Given my experience, I would certainly never recommend Waterdale Jewelry to anyone considering having their antique jewellery altered.
