Then we got a snack from the snack bar and she made him go eat by himself in the grass section behind the pool "because of ants". My family is visiting from out of town, we are members of a pool at home and regularly go to the grandparents lake house. On Saturday my son was swimming from float to float by himself at the lake! My son is also on the swim team! I was completely fine with how he was swimming, he was with his uncle who is an adult, and there was almost no one at the pool! The manager embarrassed my son, crushed his confidence, and took the opportunity to override my judgement as a parent, saying she would not allow him to use 7/8 of the pool without a life jacket. She never asked me any questions and she never came and spoke to me, she just had another lifeguard tell me what she had decided. Absolutely disappointing. She should have expressed her concern or fear to me, discussed it with me, and asked me about his history with swimming, and then let me decide. Would I really let my son "actively drown"? Absolutely ridiculous. How she handled it was immature and cowardly and has affected our overall stay (we were going to go to the pool every afternoon).

Great playground and pool area! Took my 4 year old and she loves it. Nice shaded picnic area…read more Swings and lots of parking

I genuinely enjoy this facility and wanted to share some feedback regarding the current pool safety…read morepolicy, specifically the requirement that children under 48 inches remain within arm's length of a parent or guardian in the toddler pool area. While I appreciate the facility's commitment to safety, I believe this policy may benefit from review in certain circumstances. My five-year-old is slightly under 48 inches tall and is a capable swimmer but he was still given a yellow bracelet because of his height. During our recent visit, a staff member (she seemed to be the one in charge) told us about the arm's length requirement while my son was playing in the shallow toddler pool area, which only reaches ankle depth. I fully support close supervision requirements in deeper water or for infants and young toddlers. However, the current policy creates some practical challenges in the toddler pool area: 1. The shallow depth of the toddler pool presents minimal risk for older children who can swim. 2. Multiple parents attempting to maintain arm's length proximity in a confined space leads to congestion and difficulty navigating around one another. Which can make things even more difficult trying to keep an eye on your child and your child's constant movement when you have a parent in front of you trying to keep an eye on their child. 3. The policy becomes impossible to enforce when children use the toddler play structure and mini slides, where parents cannot physically maintain arm's length distance. Maybe some parents can fit going up the structure, but we certainly cannot fit going down the slide. We would have to go back down the steps of the play structure and then try to get to our child who most certainly is farther away from us because kids do not sit still. I believe a modified policy that considers both the child's swimming ability and the water depth would better serve families while maintaining appropriate safety standards. Perhaps children who demonstrate swimming competency could be permitted greater independence in ankle-deep water, while maintaining stricter supervision requirements in deeper areas.

One -- I strongly advise customers to check hours and lane/pool access and availability as local…read moreschool swim teams and swimming lessons dominate the usage of this facility. Sadly, there are not always lanes for the general public (taxpayers) to swim. Also, pay beforehand (see link) on the aquatic center's website to secure admission to a lane. https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/pwcsaquatics/activity/search?onlineSiteId=0&activity_select_param=2&activity_category_ids=29&viewMode=list The last two times our family used this facility, swimming lanes, advertised as open or available, were closed (management decided to close the slide an hour early on a Sunday even though kids were using it). I assume because of low usage, the two lifeguards monitoring the slide were needed elsewhere. All competitive lanes were closed for swimming even though they were advertised as open online. :( I have yet to see the diving boards used as they appear to be permanently shut down. Also, please, be very careful when you come and go. Every single time I have been there, someone has slipped and/or fallen on the facility's wet floors in the entryway. No cash is accepted...you will need to pay electronically. Lap swimming (link) is available by reservation only Monday - Thursday (drop-ins are permitted on a space-available basis but be aware that the lane you pay for may be shared with another swimmer). Reservations are not accepted or required Friday - Sunday (drop-ins only) - Most recent hours of operation (link), but call or check their website for additional closures. Closures and Special Hours: The leisure (kiddy) pool and slide is only open from 12-5 on Saturdays and Sundays, and swimming lanes are available w/o a reservation on Fridays...but I would double-check before you make plans. https://www.pwcs.edu/operations/aquatics/index or (571) 374-6333 or email aquatics@pwcs.edu Winter schedule matrix - Link below: https://www.pwcs.edu/operations/aquatics/fees/winter_2024-25_lane_availability_-_11-18-24.pdf
