Serious Ethical Concerns - Patients Beware I am writing this review to warn others about a deeply troubling and potentially unlawful practice at this detox center. While the facility claims to operate on a voluntary basis -- as is required by law -- they use a coercive tactic that effectively strips patients of that right. After driving two hours to attend treatment and completing nearly an hour of intake paperwork, I was presented with a separate document that, in my view, amounts to forced detainment. This contract stated that if I chose to leave Against Medical Advice (AMA), I would be required to forfeit access to my phone, car keys, and all forms of money for 48 hours. This was not disclosed upfront. This policy, whether legal or not, is ethically indefensible. It places patients in a position where they cannot leave safely or communicate with others -- in essence, holding them against their will under the guise of a "voluntary" program. What is someone supposed to do without a phone, transportation, or funds? Having previously had to leave a facility AMA due to dangerous underprescribing of critical medication (see my other reviews), I wasn't willing to risk my safety again -- especially without the ability to exit freely. I immediately left and drove the two hours back home. I urge others to read every document carefully and ask detailed questions before committing to care at this facility. In my opinion, this policy is a gross violation of patient rights, and I believe it should be reviewed by relevant legal and medical oversight boards. read more

BEWARE!!!! Most of the staff is not qualified in terms of healthcare nor counseling. They sell you on the program and its features/amenities, which they do not have. Finally, they charged me and then accepted payment from my insurance - and they didn't refund me, even though they owe me almost $2k. They also do not return calls nor respond to BBB inquiries. I am a former employee of Royal Life Centers at the Haven. I worked here for 2 months at the end of 2019. All the staff that work behind the scenes are amazing and truly care about the patient's. The only thing wrong with this place is the administration and it is by far the worst administration I have ever worked for. Royal Life Centers administration is more worried about the money than they are about helping the individual trying to get help. Look it up their facility in Florida which is where this company started was shut down and the CEO Frank Cid has a huge lawsuit for insurance fraud. Does Royal Life Centers have the ability to become a better facility? Absolutely but they must put the patient's recovery as their top priority not how much money they are getting. Update: relative has since went to St Peters for help and has quit alcohol. Furthermore he is proceeding with extensive outpatient for $39 down after insurance. And will be regularly attending a therapist who specializes in chemical dependency and health check ups with his regular doctor. This was without help from your rehab that tried to scour him for his insurance payout. After the phone call I overheard from a relative seeking treatment for alcohol addiction.... You all are the exact definition of junkie hunters. You do not improve someone through belittling their entire being. Tough love is not the same thing as being a straight up asshole looking for a gold [piss] rush. First question: what's your insurance? Followed by repeated comments of "you're a rich guy" etc etc. while trying to pressure into rehab. The man was Claiming "as a sponsor it is my responsibility to ensure you are fully treated and fully cared for." Then belittling him for wanting detox. You actually managed to talk someone OUT of seeking help from you. And yet you were fine to just drop the call once you did that. So much for your "responsibility." These guys only want to make money off of your insurance. Go watch documentaries like American Relapse and you'll learn exactly who these people are. We're proceeding to get help from better doctors and a better detox location. Meanwhile you all need to reflect on the horrible shit you do. High numbers of recovery solely in the rehab setting do not mean high levels of success. Go research Delray Florida. Those statistics don't track what happens after or in between. read more

This is a very poorly run facility. This is a "one size fits all" program, it doesn't matter if the resident is ready to move on, the amount of time at the facility dictates when residents move to the next phase. The Clinical Director is not qualified for the position and is not concerned with the wellbeing of the residents. The death rate among residents due to overdoses is extremely high.
