The wines and port are overwhelmingly Spanish and Portuguese, as befits the neighborhood. The guys who run the place know their products well and are great at picking out exactly what you need. This is the source of the 5-star rating. I can't browse in there for more than a minute or so without one of the proprietors coming over to ask me what I want. I tell him, "I'm looking for a late-bottled vintage port around $40," and he will then select a bottle or two, ask me how many cases (har har), and ring me up. I don't think I've spent more than 8 minutes in the store, ever. And every selection they've made has been spot-on. If you're in the market for good port, don't be afraid to get on the PATH and come out to Oporto... it's only about 8 blocks from the station, and you'll get to experience the really nice part of Newark... the Ironbound. The restaurants around Oporto just smell amazing, and you'll want to come back here for the food after you buy all your good ports.

After I left the store, I realized that I had dropped one of my gloves on the street in front of the liquor store. My friend, who drove me to the store, called the store and spoke with the manager about the missing glove. My friend returned to the store later that night and the manager assisted with searching for the glove. The glove was found under a parked vehicle on the street.
