This is a nice DIY car wash. There's lots of bays so it's easy to find one to wash your car. There are not a lot of DIY car washes in Vancouver so I had to drive all the way to Burnaby for this. My car needed a thorough cleaning. There's plenty of place to park your car afterwards to dry it. They have vacuums as well. They accept cash and credit card. Used to be good few years ago, went there a lot of times as I live close by. Quality has went downhill drastically in past 2 years. 1. Card tap does not work half of the times. You end up getting multiple transactions of 6$ each with no coins being dispatched from machine. 2. Their vacuum timer is way too low. Compared it with shine auto wash same price vacuum token, royal oak timing for vacuum is less than half of them. Always crazy busy. I end up spending 6-8 $ for manual car wash. Why not spend 2-3 dollars extra and save time by going to shine auto wash for 11-12 dollars basic wash?? read more

Not a bad car wash just cannot believe this is the only non automatic car wash in all of Vancouver. Price was a little steep seeing as a there's other places that hand wash for the same price. Only went here cause I like to wash my bike on my roof rack. If it's more convenient for you to hit one of the ones where they hand wash for you I would recommend you do that. I have given this place a 5 star based on the following considerations. Before that, however, it is important to know that the 5 star rating is based on: the individual customer knows how to wash a car PROPERLY (i.e. 2 bucket method, not using the foam brush, etc) So, onto the review. As someone who lives in a high-rise apartment, and has no means to a water hose or a pressure washer, Royal Oak Car Wash is a great place. Usually, they do not allow bucket washing during day hours (so that the waiting time for other customers isn't too long), but if you have time to spare after 10pm, you can bucket wash. For my experience, I usually go to the carwash around 11, where there are fewer people, and no burning sun to dry off the water that I just sprayed on. Here is how the wash is great: 1.I use two buckets (a wash and a rinse bucket) for hand/bucket cleaning the car, but before that, I use the pressure washer to soak and do a preliminary clean. While car wash fluids can be used with the pressure washer, all I need is water which worked great. 2. Lots of space at night 3. Because they are the only place that even comes close to allowing bucket wash, they deserve a 5 star. (Washworld, for example, does not allow bucket wash using self-bought products at anytime) Conclusion: If you love your car, and truly knows how to wash your car (not like some reviewers who rates the place 1 star because they used a foam brush that scratched their paint, I mean, duh, anything other than a microfiber towel will scratch your clear coat) then this place is fantastic especially if you, like myself, live in a place without access to washing space or equipment. read more

I've used these types of car washes for years in San Francisco, so you can say I'm an old pro. Here's how you wash your car for $4: /1/ Turn the dial to High Pressure Soap /2/ Grab the spray wand, get accustomed to how you're going to hold it /3/ Insert $2 /4/ Walk around the car in a clockwise manner, spraying down the car with the wand. Spend no more than 1 minute on this step. /5/ Turn the dial to Foamy Brush and use the brush to start scrubbing down your car from TOP to BOTTOM*. You will have approximately 2 minutes of foam coming out of the brush. When you run out of time, foam will cease coming out of the brush. However, you should have plenty of excess suds to finish off brushing the rest of the car. (*Normally you would do this from the bottom first, since it would help you see which spots you haven't done. But you'll get more accumulation of suds on your car if you start at the top, which is helpful in the event you run out of time.) /6/ Turn the dial to High Pressure Rinse, /7/ Insert $2 /8/ Rinse car from the top down in a clockwise manner. You should have time to spare. If your wheels are dirty, the High Pressure Rinse will do a pretty good job getting rid of any grime you may have missed. Worst case scenario, if you can't finish on time, then suck it up and add another $2 (for a total of $6). But don't feel bad, with practice, you too can master the $4 car wash. read more

They say if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. This always seems to be the case with carwashes, since no matter what automatic carwash I use leaves me finishing the job myself with a bucket of water and a sponge. Not cool when you're paying $15-$20 and expect the job be done right! I live in a condo, so there is no place for me to wash my own car. This type of carwash is perfect for me. Tokens are $2 each, and give you about 3.5 minutes per token. Token machines take loonies, toonies, bills, and credit cards...not sure about debit, but I'd rather doubt that's an option. Also, the place is open 24 hours. Great if you need to destroy evidence at 2am, but otherwise I don't see why it needs to be open 24/7. Either way, it's convenient. The "high pressure soap" option gets most of the initial road grime off, and the tire cleaning option works great too. I go over the car twice with the foam brush and rinse everything off with the high-pressure hose. If I'm fast, I can do it with two tokens, but even if I use three it's no problem. Then I pull out of the wash bay, and dry the car. The vacuums they have work well, and one of them shampoos rugs and seats too - it does wonders. Overall, I've used this carwash a hand-full of times, and I will be back for more in the future. read more

I'm giving this place one star because their machines charged me twice the amount (2x$6) for three tokens when I was using my credit card. The machine said it was unable to read my card or process it, and yet my cc report shows they they charged me twice. It was actually the second time this happened to me using the same card. I sent them an email explaining it and requesting a refund or some kind of a compensation about two weeks ago, but they haven't even had the decency to respond. Not sure if the machines will give you any tokens for cash, but if you go there, don't use your credit cards to get tokens, unless you want to pay twice as much. If the Carwash people contact me and send me a cheque or some kind of a credit, I will change this review accordingly. read more

Its usually been fine. But now I won't be going back. Not sure if the management changed. But heres why: 1) I spent $6 (3 tokens = 4 min each) and 12 minutes of time high pressure washing, soaping with the "triple foam brush" and high pressure washing the soap off. When my car dried at home, it was just as dirty as it was BEFORE I washed it. I'll post some pictures. Clearly they're cutting the soap SO LOW it did not remove the thin layer of dusty-dirt from rain water on my car. 2) I have seen the owner in the summer chasing customers out of the washing stalls if they are not EXCLUSIVELY washing the car. My boyfriend ALSO was chased out in addition to me witnessing it. (Not sure if he is the owner but he was wearing a turban...management change?) 3) There are 8 options or so for cleaning including: rinse, triple foam brush, tire cleaner, shine, etc. Only the triple foam brush and rinsing ones work -and based on this experience, they don't.- I would rather spend $8, not get out of my car (though not be able to detail clean myself) and go to the new place on Rumble Street by Edmonds skytrain who offered their customers free car washes for a month back in November. To my knowledge, this is one of the only DIY car washes anywhere near Vancouver. My boyfriend hates paying $20+ for the crap automatic tunnel car washes at Esso, because they always miss spots as well as overcharge, so this place is great. Pricing is $2 for 3 minutes, in which you can use any of the car wash options (soap, rinse, wax, foam brush, tire cleaner, etc) in whatever order you want. A quick wash and wax took us 9 minutes. The best part is that you can obviously hand wash and avoid missing spots to get a better wash for your car. There's also a power vacuum for interior detailing, but we didn't use it. Because I can't think of anything wrong to say about this place, it gets 5 stars. read more

When I first got a car I lived in Alberta and all the car washes in my town were this do it yourself style, as I moved around I have just grown to prefer doing it myself. Luckily for me I found this gem in my neighborhood when I moved to Burnaby! I don't find an issue w signage as others have mentioned but then again I have never read the signs. I love that you can pay with credit card so I can keep my change reserve for laundry! I just buy a bunch of tokens and leave them in my cup holder so I can stop for a quick, no hassle spray down between full washes. A full wash give me a good workout, costs me about $6 and about 9 minutes of my life, sounds good to me! The equipment has always been operational so it's never been a bother that there is no attendants. My only complaints are I can't get in my hub caps with the brush (so you need to bring a sponge if you want clean rims) and the vacuum is not strong enough to get dog hair off my seats or sandy dirt out of the carpets. Sooo skip the vacuum, it gives you a decent amount of time but it's gutless! read more

Pros: lots of spaces, timers display on washing stands, token vending machine accepts cash and credit cards as well. My hose is broken and I can't figure out why or how. I have had many people help me and my car is gross. I sucked the bullet and spent $6 to do it myself at this self serve DIY station. I would rather do it myself than pay $20 for a job that misses spots. I also prefer to have intimate 1 on 1 time with my car. The pricing and information is extremely confusing on the menu and there is no tenant on site. It's 24 hours self serve which works for my irregular daily schedule. The website information is very poorly laid out, therefore, not a good source for info before entering. If something goes wrong with the machine or any sort of technical glitch you're SOL as there is no attendants on site. Thankfully everything went smoothly and even though I had some spots that were unreachable I will bring my own cloth and sponge to get into certain areas (I am aware of the no hand washing rule but it's all self serve private booths). My car had 3 months worth of tree droppings and moss, therefore, it was impossible to get it all out in one washing even with the brush that gives you a good arm work out before the gym. This is a weekly thing and for $6 VS $15 - $20 in a machine that will do a so so job, I am willing to do this. Each token is $2 and all you need is a pre-rinse, soap and final rinse. I don't bother with the vacuum 'cause this works at my place. read more

POOR signage. When I put $20 into the change machine, it returns $10 in loonies and 5 tokens - that look EXACTLY like loonies. So I thought I had been ripped off until I called the number and the person who answered told me about the loonie-looking tokens. If it was my business, I would put up better signage and change the colors of the tokens!!! You need to use one token for each 3 minutes of washing. There was no attendant (this was at 7am on a Thursday). The email address on their website does not work, but someone will answer the phone listed on the sign. read more

What a place. Huge with plenty of space to take care of your car. Not ike gas stations where you can't open your cars doors without worrying about others cars. Definitely the place to vacuum your truck/van/car. It has double vacuum power and shampoo wash remover but I never tried them . read more

The only spray and wash in the Vancouver area worth going to. Good pressure. Clean. Open 24/7. You can start washing with just one token. Their token machine accepts credit cards and they give you a good heads up when your timer is clocking down to zero. I live in south Vancouver and it's worth the drive. read more

Drop a few coins and get a hose with a brush with soap to wash your car. Add a few more and get the water to rinse. Move a few feet, drop some more coin and use the vacuum. Best part of the experience: watching the honey do this to the vehicle we'd taken on our camping trip. The car wash was like a second honeymoon. read more

This self serve car wash is not great, but there are no alternatives. The pressure washers just stop spraying... but your clock is still counting down. It uses tokens instead of coins, so left over tokens are worthless unless you return. read more

Do-it-yourself washes like this are clearly far superior to automated ones. Here you just buy tokens - $6 is enough to do your whole car - and then use their high power hoses and brush to get it clean. Works great and couldn't be simpler. They have lots of stalls, simple instructions on the wall, and all the equipment works very well. It lost 1 star for me because the vacuum is kind of weak, but as far as car washes go this place is fantastic. read more
