After reading a couple reviews I had relatively high expectations for this place. I went here with some electronics that I had received as gifts but never used before so I thought let's see if we can make a deal rather than have it sitting in my garage collecting dust. I walk into the shop and notice they have a police officer on duty, though he is more focused on his phone than observing the store. After a couple minutes of standing there with my items a man with a goatee (who I assume is the owner of the shop, or manager) approaches me and without even greeting me just looks at my stuff and says, "I'm interested in these two, but not this." then takes the boxes to the counter and he walks to his computer in the backroom. Ok, so I follow him and wait for him to come back out of the backroom while he's googling my items in order to make a proposal. He comes out from the back and says,"I'll offer you $10 for those. I have a bunch of stuff like this and people want things cheap around here." LOL...I respond by saying, "you don't have anything like this in here, $10 really?" Where he then responds with, "People want things cheap around here." He was serious, and not open to negotiating. I pick up my stuff and walk out. The total retail price for the items I brought in were over $200. I understand the guy's motivation for wanting to make a profit, but to downright lowball me and not even consider negotiating was just insulting. I suppose I'm too idealistic to think people can be honest and fair with you in a transaction like this. It was a definite mistake and a waste of time to drive to this place rather than doing what most folks do which is sell it on eBay, Amazon, Craigslist, and Wallapop. Unless you're extremely desperate for a couple dollars, and do not have time to sell your items through the online merchandisers, and even after asking your network if they're interested in purchasing your items, and only if your life is on the line then go to this place. But I warn you, this place preys on the weak and despondent. You will be treated disrespectfully, and lowballed for sure.

Given the cost and the significance of the watch to me, I simply wanted to understand what work had been done. The watchmaker did attempt to explain it initially, but when I didn't immediately understand the technical details, his demeanor changed. He became short, dismissive, and increasingly condescending. I wasn't questioning his expertise or the quality of his work--I was simply asking for a clear explanation of a service that cost me nearly $1,000. I made every effort to be respectful throughout the interaction, but unfortunately, I did not receive the same courtesy in return. He may be a skilled watchmaker, but technical ability does not excuse treating a paying customer as though they are an inconvenience for asking reasonable questions. Based on my experience, customer service does not appear to be a priority here, and that significantly overshadowed what should have been a meaningful experience restoring my dad's watch.

I had to use pliers to get it off so not only was it bent it also had "bite" marks from me bending it to get it off my finger. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was certain it would never be as beautiful as the day I got it. I called first after doing several Yelp searches near me. I settled in Mount Vernon because of location and positive reviews. I was hoping the fix wouldn't cost too much but the owner was unable to tell me without seeing the ring. He also figured he'd be able to do it on site same day. I walked in around 3 and it was empty. He has a little buzzer and promptly opened the door. I showed him the ring and he said he would be able to fix it in about 30 minutes and for $40. I was shocked. I was so happy to have my ring back. I also asked if he could clean it and he said no problem. I came back at 4 and the ring was ready for me. Beautifully shining and in perfect circle shape! It has never looked better. The ring was bought in NC so I am so thankful to have a trusted jeweler nearby. I also inquired about getting a new wedding band and he showed me a few in shop (he doesn't keep a lot on hand) but also showed me a book with rings he could order. I most definitely plan to do so! This shop has old clocks and such that this man can fix which I think is so special because it's a thing of the past. Overall a great experience and very reasonably priced!

I took the watch to a different shop and was informed it needed a new movement. So the repair was apparently not made. I paid twice to have a Ships Clock repaired. I still does not work.
