They offer lessons and boarding at reasonable prices. They have quality instructors. They are safety conscious. Their school horses are well chosen for the job. Maplewood also offers an affordable show team experience. (When I say affordable - it's relative to many other stables. :-) Sports involving horses are going to be more expensive than many other sports.) Overall this is a good stable, very suited to beginner and intermediate riders who want to learn, have fun and optionally do some casual showing . (If you want to go to the Olympics, find another stable and a lot more money.) :-) Oh yeah - horses are well cared for, there's a dog and 3 cats who love to socialize and everything is kept spic and span. I have been going here for several years and have had no issues with how things are being run. The farm is currently majority a horse farm and for those who are interested in this it would be a great opportunity. The owner has great ideas, however they have not progressed. There are so many ideas on the go that none seem to get to completion. In my opinion, the barn is filthy with sheep droppings all over - and despite many efforts on my (and others) part to get it cleaned up, it just keeps progressing back to filth. In all fairness to the farmer, there have been issues with flooding which have posed challenges to cleanliness. However, that's only a portion of the year, and doesn't explain the remainder. It's primarily a sheep farm - though the sheep have dwindled. It also has some horses, as the owner is a horse fan. The farm is intended to be a family based farm-tourism spot, with a Christian base. I personally find the amount of swearing going on is not conducive to family atmosphere. (Neither is the level of dirt.) I also have some concerns with the appropriateness of some of the social media posts that are made, and their suitability for a family audience and with some of the decisions that are made around what is appropriate guidance and what isn't. (The girls are there for horseback riding - lets keep it at that level.) As far as riding goes, I have some concerns about safety issues. They run a pony club, which I think is a lot of fun for the younger crowd and appropriately supervised. Older kids are given a lot of unsupervised freedom, which may or may not be a good thing - depends on the rider. Location wise, it's great - close to the Walkle exit of the 417. Would I return: I have in the past, but will not in the future. Would I recommend: Not at this time. The property has great potential for development for agri-tourism serving Ottawa. He booted out the same 2 guys after lap 2 because they apparently broke the rules twice. We didn't realize that as the carts were really slow. We requested him to revisit his decision and that followed by a response from the young supervisor, YOU PEOPLE always break the rules..that was a comment which didn't go down well for obvious reasons. It was my first time visiting top karting and ended up being here for a team event…read more Prior to the race, you have to sign a waiver and provide your license number (which was odd) and to even loosen up your muscles they have a bar as well. We had a big group of about 15 people of all ages, and sizes and luckily the carts were adjustable and able to accommodate everyone. With you signing in initially, the system automatically registers your name to a car in order to keep track of how well and how quick you're able to go through the tracks. I really enjoyed my experience here. The cars went extremely quick and the areas are padded for safety. I found the employees there are really helpful. One thing I really liked is you get a hair net prior to putting on the helmet to keep things a little cleaner and they also provide gloves if wanted. I ended up overall in 7th which wasn't too bad for my first time go karting in over 15 years.

I was a bit disappointed with the fact that for our "practice shots" we only got to shoot one arrow and then we went directly to the game field. Anyone who isn't familiar with archery or hasn't done archery would find this difficult compared to the skilled players. The arrows have a soft foam tip so that it doesn't hurt too much if you get hit. Unless you're a big enough group, you end up playing with other players in the game field (think: laser tag games). It got pretty sweaty under the helmet that's mandatory to wear, and as someone with sensitive skin, it made my face quite itchy. Overall, it's a fun experience, especially if you're with friends or family!

Good but was a lot of fun and was fair and took pity when someone got out fast he let them back in. I got hit in the face and he made sure I was okay! A lot of our team was late to arrive and the other staff did an excellent job at teaching them off to. The side so they could join in! They do have free range chickens and ducks running around as well. It's only $10 a person and it's worth it for a fun outing. If you do go please respect the rules of not chasing the chickens and ducks, you might very well give them a heart attack. And no one wants to see that. But I'd definitely recommend it especially if you've got kids. They've even got information plaques about all the animals around the place so it's fun and educational.
