We booked this place for our son's 14th B'day. we were a group of 12 and couple of the guys didn't understand much english. I set up the expectation to the 18 yr old guy who was the so called supervisor ( Go Figure) of the races that day. He booted out the same 2 guys after lap 2 because they apparently broke the rules twice. We didn't realize that as the carts were really slow. We requested him to revisit his decision and that followed by a response from the young supervisor, YOU PEOPLE always break the rules..that was a comment which didn't go down well for obvious reasons. For the sake of the B'day party which we didn't want to spoil we carried on. This place is super expensive, have some atrocious rules and don't order the food. Really bad quality. It was my first time visiting top karting and ended up being here for a team event. Prior to the race, you have to sign a waiver and provide your license number (which was odd) and to even loosen up your muscles they have a bar as well. We had a big group of about 15 people of all ages, and sizes and luckily the carts were adjustable and able to accommodate everyone. With you signing in initially, the system automatically registers your name to a car in order to keep track of how well and how quick you're able to go through the tracks. I really enjoyed my experience here. The cars went extremely quick and the areas are padded for safety. I found the employees there are really helpful. One thing I really liked is you get a hair net prior to putting on the helmet to keep things a little cleaner and they also provide gloves if wanted. I've been here twice now, and raced over 150 laps total. It might be a little pricey, but the go-karts are pretty damn quick - I hit over 40mph (65km/h) on the straightaway, according to the comprehensive (en français) race stats they give you afterwards. My 18.1-second lap time was the second-fastest in my group, though there were some people from other groups who were crazy-fast (and some crazy-slow, too). My first visit, we did a ten minute race for fun, and then the Grand Prix, where you qualify for ten laps, and then they set you up in a starting grid based on your times, and you race for 70 laps, for $60+tax. It was really exhausting. I was kinda sore the next day. The second time, we had a buy-one-get-one coupon and bought a ten-minute race for $28, so 20 minutes got me ~60 laps - a much better deal, IMO... and it was still exhausting! I don't know how I survived my first time. They have a bar with lots of beer, pool tables, and air hockey! The race track is all indoors, and pretty well-ventilated, but you still will smell plenty of exhaust. Combined with the intense go-kart racing, some people may feel nauseous. Tips: -Even though they provide a sort-of shop coat to wear, I'd still wouldn't wear nice clothes here. Closed-toe shoes are a must. -They have free loaner-helmets, but bring your own if you have one. -There's only one turn you need to brake for; just ease off the gas on the other turns. -Those guys that always pass you? I've gone twice for 2 difference bachelor parties and both have been great! This is the fastest go-karting proprietor in the Ottawa area and a very fun track to race. The go-karts are for 1 person only and travel up to ~35 km/h. It doesn't sound very fast, but it is (normal go-kart speed is somewhere around 20). Track is all indoor and the building also has a licensed sports bar. Some tips: come with running shoes not sandals, and wear work clothes or the race suits they provide. The go-karts may look clean, but you'll come out with grease and other junk on your seat and back. After racing, you receive an individual printout showing your race stats (no. laps, lap times, fastest/average lap times, ranking, etc. etc.). See image. The only reason I don't give 5/5 is because of the price. $28 for 10 minutes!! I've used coupons each time I go, otherwise it's practically $3/min. Top Karting you need to have age groups... you can't have 10 year old children on the track who are traveling at walking speed and then give black warnings and remove people who are doing their best to race around them. woot! what a rush! Pros: - 200 lbs. man like me can hit 66.9 km/h in their kart on their circuit. (on my first visit) (I'll put in the speed after I confirm whether there are govt. imposed speed limits on rental go-karts similar to Ontario) - Close to Ottawa region. - Short track, OK turns (personal best lap time: 18.5 secs) - You get a print out of race results with personal lap times - Microbial head nets make it bearable to wear their helmets. Cons: - Dirty suits to wear - No harness/safety belts (although it's not warranted) - Pricey Experience: - It was my first time in a go kart... loved the incredible grip... I almost didn't want to drive my own car afterwards - I was scared at first at the absence of safety harness. But after the race started it's easy to understand why. You can stop from 50kmph within couple of meters. And with the amount of grip available, you never really get into a serious accident. - We paid $30 for 39 laps. We ended up racing for 10~11 minutes and total of 27 laps. We decided not to be a prick about it. I have been to Top Karting before and had good experiences....but I went last week and it was horrible. The workers give a safety speech before racing begins - explaining the safety rules and such. There were some large, drunk and belligerent men there who were laughing the whole time. From the very beginning of the race, these men were completely breaking all the rules. There were racing with absolutely no regard to safety and were crashing into everyone violently. These antics culminated in a five car crash - one of my friends got injured while stuck in the middle of this. All of this could have been avoided if the workers had followed through with enforcing their own rules. Finally, a worker came over to kick one guy out and a fight began, where the men literally started pushing the worker around. I got out of my cart to check on my friend and make sure everyone was okay and burned myself in the process (a second degree burn). I had to ask 4 different workers for help with this before anyone opened a first aid kit. Out of the four people in my group, two were injured and could not finish the race. The manager came out to talk to the aggressive men and again instead of standing by their own rules, he actually bought the men beer to apologize for kicking them off the court! Meanwhile, we innocent bystanders didn't even get an apology. We have tried phoning the manager to complain on three separate occasions but they are always 'too busy' to hear us out and keep saying they will call us back but they don't. In conclusion, the karting itself is great, but the mismanagement and lack of control is disgraceful. read more

Just had one of the worst sales experiences ever! I was trying to book space at Top Karting (Go Karts in Gatineau) for a friends bachelor party. In our group we had 6 people interested in doing this... however the MORONS running this business will not take a reservation unless you have a minimum of 8 people and you MUST pay 100% up front to hold the reservation ($550)!! Then they tell me, because we don't have a reservation... that we would have to go on a first come, first serve basis - meaning that they could not guarantee that we (as a group) would even race together. They suggested I call ahead to see how busy they were (D'OH!) Upon hearing my frustration... they suggested that I book for 8 people (the full $550 down payment) and if we couldn't find 2 more people... they would kindly give me a gift card back as a reimbursement. I did this a little while ago with my fiancée and it was super fun! We opted for the shorter package because we were unsure about what to expect. In the summer the have the side of the building open which is great because you can really smell the gas exhaust coming from the cars. This cars go SO fast and the acceleration is amazing! Absolutely horrible service and experience, DO NOT VISIT! Where to even begin. They promote a deal in which for certain temperatures below 0 they will take percentages off the total. When I asked about this deal I was immediately shut down and they claimed that this deal was not in effect(even though they very clearly had signage about the place. We were also told of a 15 min wait to begin karting which ultimately ended up being well over an hour. In the time we were able to play billiards however I did not spend 50$ to play some pool. As we were about to begin we noticed that the workers and even the supervisor on duty was smoking a marijuana pipe with absolutely no discretion! They even rode the karts while high!!! The karting experience itself was also horrible. While completely expected in casual karting, we were matched with some very slow beginners. In most karting establishments this is usually handled well. If someone crashes to often they will pull them aside and with repeat offences remove them from the race. Within a minute a beginner from another party crashed leading to a stoppage of the race. While I feel very sorry for the girl who had been hurt, well over 10 minutes of our 15 minute race was lost. When the situation was cleared up and we were able to race again, one of our party members was immediately black flagged and removed from the race. When asked about the offence he was told he was "going too fast". As if racing is wasn't what go karting is about! When further asked about why he was removed they claimed he was pulled aside 3 times and warned. This had never happened and they simply continued their lies. Having paid $50 for a 5 minute race and my friend for a 3 minute race we reasonably asked for a refund. They refused to do so. While we we're asking about refund and perhaps a manager we could talk to, the workers were calling us VERY rude and vulgar names in french (which we also happen to speak). Giving us no option to talk to a higher-up or able to have a refund we left feeling completely defeated about this horrible experience. This establishment is terrible and will never see our business again. DO NOT RACE HERE! read more
