We stayed here June 29-July 8, 2026 with a group of 24 family members, and unfortunately, this resort did not deliver the luxury experience its price promises. Antigua itself is absolutely beautiful, but the resort was the biggest disappointment of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we experienced ongoing issues with restaurant reservations, inconsistent food availability, and poor customer service. We spent far too much of our vacation trying to coordinate dinner reservations instead of relaxing. As a large group, we were directed to work with Guest Services/Wedding Groups, where I worked with Nissa, Danetta, and another team member. While they were all friendly, very little was actually resolved despite multiple conversations throughout our stay. Even when reservations were secured, meals were poorly coordinated. It wasn't uncommon for some people at our table to receive their food while others waited over an hour. By the time everyone was served, some family members had already finished eating. For a resort that hosts weddings and large groups regularly, this was extremely disappointing. The resort also appeared worn and in need of maintenance in several areas, particularly around the pool. Combined with inconsistent service and lack of follow-through, it simply did not feel like a luxury resort. One of my biggest frustrations was the lack of accountability. On our last day, Nissa told me she would meet with me before our departure to discuss our experience. I waited and looked for her, but she never became available, and no one followed up. After everything we had experienced, it felt like our concerns simply didn't matter. What was most frustrating was discovering during our stay that many of these same complaints--reservation issues, poor service, maintenance concerns, and inconsistent dining--have been mentioned in reviews for months. These don't appear to be isolated incidents, which makes it even more disappointing that little seems to have changed. We still had an amazing time because Antigua is stunning and we were surrounded by family. However, we made those memories despite the resort, not because of it. If you're planning a large family vacation, reunion, or wedding here, I'd strongly encourage you to read the most recent reviews before booking. I arrived around 1:30 PM on April 26th, and was told they were expediting room cleaning so rooms could be assigned quickly. Unfortunately, guests I arrived with, and who checked in after me, received their rooms before I did. When I went back to the front desk for updates, no one seemed to know what was going on, including housekeeping and the room coordinator. Not the best way to start a vacation. The food and drinks were hit or miss. The first-day buffet was just okay, and the drinks at the lobby bar were honestly pretty bad. However, after getting to know a few of the bartenders throughout my 5-days stay, the drinks started to get a little better. I was also supposed to receive a welcome bottle of wine and a letter from the general manager, but never got either. On the last day, I spoke with someone named Tracey during breakfast, and she was very apologetic and genuinely tried to make things right. Since it was our last day, I decided not to make a bigger issue out of it. The highlight of the trip was definitely the spa. I originally booked a 25-minute body scrub but upgraded after the jets in our rented cabana barely worked most of the time. The staff made up for it by giving us complimentary hydrotherapy and 20% off a longer service. The scalp massage alone was worth it, and the entire spa experience was amazing. Maria was fantastic! The entertainment at the resort was also a little underwhelming. Overall, I found out the resort is still fairly new (about two years old), so it seems like they're still working out some operational kinks. It was our first visit to Royalton Chic Antigua. We were part of the Diamond Club experience. I would recommend this not necessarily because of the butlers who we found long on charm but short on service delivery. Instead the private Diamond Club beach and bar and the Diamond Club lounge where you can mix your own drinks and snack all day and evening. I don't think we would have enjoyed our visit without the DC experience although I'm not sure the $$$ was worth it. Thank you to the following staff who made our vacation very special. Jeanette whose smile brightened every morning at breakfast. who provided wonderful bar service at the beach everyday. And Aliyah (sp) who gave great service with humor and a smile at the Olympus and Haven restaurants. Forgive for forgetting the name of the supercharged beach waitress who brought us many wonderful drinks on the Diamond Club beach. Her first name started with an "M". We ate at every restaurant. We enjoyed Olympus for breakfast (only Diamond Club member were allowed). We enjoyed Vesper, Haven, and the Diamond Club lounge. Hunter steakhouse was uninspiring. The Excite sports bar was a small "sweaty blur" (Heated Rivalry reference).. Very disappointed in this as I'd hoped to catch a few NCAA games or tennis during the visit. Almost forgot the food truck. Jerk chicken, rice, vegetables, nachos, meat patties and wonderful service. Highly recommend! The room was substandard. No proper door on the bathroom. the toiletries were lacking. We did have dual sinks which was nice. The wet bar was not stocked properly eventhough this amenity is bragged about in the advertisements. Our view was spectacular. View of the ocean and the property. I really hoped to have breakfast in our room one morning to enjoy the view but 3 attempts at room service failed. I have stayed at 5 other Royalton Resorts and never had a problem like in Antigua. In every email confirmation I received, it stated "OCEAN VIEW". When I went to pre-check in, they stated I had a Mountain View room reservation but could upgrade for a fee to Ocean View. BAIT & SWTICH. Then when I arrived, management said that there were no Ocean View rooms, only Bay View and that I had a Mountain View reservation (although all the paperwork said "OCEAN VIEW"). I could sit in the lobby until I decided I wanted to check in and sign the paperwork (that in the fine print says that you have no recourse for complaints). In addition, the "free" transfers that they promote on their site is non-existent. There is no email that you receive with your confirmation. I called numerous times to get the transfer set up, was given confirmation numbers to use and assurances that I had a transfer. At the end, no one picked us up and Royalton would not stand behind their promotion. The NEXUS representative on-site admitted that they have seen this happening, have alerted Royalton management, but there has been no change. False and Deceptive Advertising. Again, you have no recourse after you check in. This hotel is beautiful, but the way that Royalton is running their promotions and lack of integrity is bad business and has made them lose a loyal customer. BEWARE as you may be stranded in a foreign country with no recourse. read more

Royalton CHIC Antigua - Disappointing Experience That Fell Well Below Expectations I booked Royalton CHIC Antigua expecting a modern, upscale adults‑only resort experience--especially since I paid thousands of dollars to join the Royalton Prime Travelers Club. Unfortunately, this stay has been deeply disappointing and did not meet the standards promised or expected at this price point. My disappointment began as soon as I was shown to my room. The room was very small and felt like an older hotel room with only minor cosmetic updates. It was well below the quality and size I typically book and not what I associate with a "CHIC" branded property. I immediately asked about a room upgrade and made it clear that I was willing to pay extra for a better accommodation. I was informed that all rooms at the resort are similar in size and quality, which was discouraging and surprising. As this was my first stay as a Royalton Prime member, I expected at least some meaningful options or value tied to that investment. Unfortunately, the issues didn't stop there. The room also appeared to be mosquito infested. My wife and I spent much of our first night killing mosquitoes inside the room, which made it difficult to relax or sleep and raised concerns about pest control. The resort grounds were another disappointment. Landscaping throughout the property appeared poorly maintained and overgrown, which detracted from the overall ambiance and made the resort feel neglected rather than luxurious. At the pool area, my wife and I were unable to get clean towels, which is a basic expectation at any resort--especially one positioned as premium. What makes this experience particularly frustrating is that I joined the Royalton Prime Travelers Club with the expectation of enhanced experiences, better accommodations, and long‑term value across Royalton properties. Instead, on my very first visit, I encountered a small room, maintenance and cleanliness issues, and limited service responsiveness. It's rare that I arrive at a vacation destination and find myself looking forward to going home, but that was unfortunately the case here. We traveled with a large group and stayed in the Diamond Club at Royalton Chic, and bayyybeee, what an experience! From start to finish, everything was top notch. The butler service took it over the edge, attentive, professional, and made us feel like true VIPs. I honestly don't want to travel any other way now! Date of stay: May 30 - June 6, 2025 This was my second (and definitely last) stay at Royalton Antigua, and it was a complete disappointment from start to finish. First, the room conditions were unacceptable. The first room I was given had such an overwhelming mold odor that it gave me a headache within minutes. I was moved to another room (11-116), which honestly should not be rented at all. There were black mold stains on the ceiling, dead bugs on the floor, water-damaged wood everywhere, and everything--including the bedding and my belongings--was damp the entire stay. The phone didn't work, and the hallway lighting near the room, stairwell, and elevator was completely out. On top of that, the food was poor, the service was painfully slow, and many staff were either indifferent or outright rude. I actually witnessed staff arguing with guests, and the pool bartenders were particularly unpleasant. The pool bar closed early every day, leaving guests standing around wondering what was going on. My assigned butlers never reached out or provided the WhatsApp contact that was supposed to be standard with the Diamond Club until my 3rd day (out of 7). What made this worse was that I used over 90,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for part of the stay, and paid for the rest. It's unacceptable that a Marriott-affiliated resort can be in this condition and offer such poor service. I traveled with three colleagues and was honestly embarrassed by what we encountered. This is now the third Marriott Caribbean property I've visited in the past year with serious service and quality issues. As a Lifetime Platinum Marriott member, I expect better. Royalton Antigua does not meet even basic standards and reflects poorly on the Marriott brand. I strongly advise looking elsewhere. Until there's new management and a major overhaul of how this resort is run, it is simply not worth your money or points. read more

Our group included 23 guests who traveled to celebrate a very special occasion -- my daughter's 15th birthday. We had high expectations for this milestone event, but unfortunately, our experience fell far below any acceptable standard of hospitality, cleanliness, and customer service. Before our arrival, I emailed Della (rmran-anu@royaltonresorts.com) with concerns from online reviews. She assured me she'd be our point of contact, but despite follow-ups (June 29, July 1, and July 4), I received no reply. Her supervisor, Frederick (gmran-anu@royaltonresorts.com), was copied and also never responded--just to give you an idea of the leadership at this property. Summary of Stay at Royalton Antigua: Room Conditions & Check-In Issues: Multiple rooms were delayed at check-in. Guests, including elderly and pregnant individuals, waited over 3 hours. Several rooms were dirty, had broken amenities, and even health hazards like pubic hair, blood stains, bugs, and sewage smells. Cribs were delayed, safes didn't work, and ACs were non-functional. Housekeeping was careless and unresponsive. Dining Experience: Restaurant reservations through the app failed, forcing the group to eat repetitive, bland buffet meals. Juices, club soda, and even beer ran out regularly. Staff were unhelpful, insects contaminated food, and some children were accidentally served alcoholic drinks--resulting in illness. Sweet 15 Birthday Event Issues: The event began late with missing items, extra unapproved cash charges, poor service, and bugs on the food and cake. The wrong song was played for the father-daughter dance. Uninvited, intoxicated guests disrupted the event, and security failed to intervene properly. Property Maintenance & Safety Concerns: Mold, leaks, broken lights, missing towels, and unhygienic bedding were common. The pool had hazards (e.g., missing tiles), and the resort often lacked basic supplies like bottled water. Staff smoked marijuana openly and harassed guests, making excursions feel unsafe--especially around children. read more

I would like 2 start out by saying everything was as expected l. The ambiance was on point. The people were generous and welcoming and for a girls trip it was better than I imagined. I want to thank the staff for doing such a wonderful job especially everyone at the spa , they all get an A+++ from me especially on Wednesday 7/30/25. Too begin let me start off saying we were a party of 20+ with most of the party staying in the Diamond Club , Upon arrival none of the staff were welcoming no smiles or even any verbal greetings from most just cold stares and mandatory engagement , Entering my room I took notice that my floors in my room were not throughly cleaned and the shower didn't seem too be cleaned throughly also , There are jet ski vendors on the beach that aren't under resort license or insurance that aggressively market their jet ski rental to anyone no matter age I even watched with my own eyes as they marketed too my 12yr old daughter whom definitely doesn't look of age too operate any motor vehicle , sometime during that same day both my nephew's whom are both under legal driving age without a parent were offered jet ski rentals from this same company that they did accept, during there time on the jet ski there was contact made between one jet ski and the other both being operated by my nephew's at this time they rental was ended and the employees demanded my sister pay them $500-$300 for unseen damages which she refused due too no proof of $300-$500 damage , this then turned into a big deal where the police were called on to the resort with the jet ski employees influencing the offers too arrest my nephew and take him down too the station for damages unseen no photos , no witnesses , no documentation of any damages done , At this time me and other men and younger men in my family stooped the officers mid approach and ask "what is the charge ?" And made it absolutely clear he wouldn't be going anywhere with any law enforcement unless there was a charge against him this went on for about 2hrs us being Diamond Club members at this resort you would think they would have sent someone from the Resort long ago too intervene especially this is all taken place by the pool/ villa / beach area or even help defuse the situation no one arrived to the very very end after we had stood our ground that there will be no money paid out without a insure claim and proof of damages at no point did the "Owner" of this Jet Ski rental company appear in person after a total 3hrs of debate the officers left the resort and the Jet Ski employees returned to the beach too and was right back too marketing too resort residents , there wasn't a friendly bartender or Waiter I can remember beside a young lady name Anya whom dealt with our party direct two days while we spent time on the beach. anyone who seated us for meals had a very unpleasant aura never greeting us with a smile or just a bland "Hello" if that , nothing making a person feel that there suppose too be here and this was on a daily basis from one dining area to the next the experience was the same never welcoming or warm , they also have 3 lose dogs that occupy the resort that roam free bark and stalk residents for food they also drink out the pool and swim in the beach all while residents of the resort are present , a family member of mine witnessed another person fighting one of the dogs of with a shoe also at night u can hear them howling and actually they seem too be more welcomed than us , 15 minutes before checkout mysteriously our room water was not available when I contacted the desk I was told they were working on restoring the water , no matter if you have a diamond bracelet on display everywhere you go or anything you ask for your made too give your room number as if your a visitor when you're band is in plain sight , we also a private cocktail party after a family photo the male bartender never smelled never greeted us or announced himself upon entry too even let us know he's the bartender that will be serving us , I will say the ladies that brought out the finger foods were nice and welcoming , I will say the resort overall is a nice place and is well kept aside from the 3 dogs and who knows how many cats that roam free threw out the dining area and beaches only place you are safe from there presence is in you're room , Transportation team to and from the airport were kind and welcoming but that staff on that resort i would refer them too a blind person funeral service. read more

If you paid me $100 a night to stay here. I wouldn't. I have been starved. I have been thirsty. They run out of everything. The diamond club is a joke. You can't get a reservation to eat anywhere. I can't believe I still have to stay here 2 more nights. There are a rare few friendly staff. Most are just rude. Their excuse for not having anything is we ran out. This includes simple things. Like water, by the way. Unless you are being paid...and paid well...stay away. I am a titanium Marriott traveler to give you some perspective. I rarely complain. This is digusting. read more

It is beautiful, BUT WE DID NOT GET WHAT WE PAID FOR! We should not have to be inconvenienced/stressed out on vacation...this is what we got - STRESS and no CUSTOMER SERVICE or addressing of our issues from management. We were there 3/13-3/17, for a junior suite bay view two with queen beds; eight professional women on vacation. We arrived to find out we were being given king sized beds. In our group, three women were bunking together...as the website stated it could accommodate that pairing. They also received a king-sized bed - with a COT; it was on the bay side however they had NO VIEW of the bay. After providing contact information and promises of the rooms being made right, after multiple days of beginning our days at the front desk to only discover that no notes were passed from the prior day's shift about our situation; this al-inclusive "5-start" hotel fell wayyyyyy short of that! The hot tub wasn't hot at all. The general manager told us to our face, that what we had was an expectation and an expectation did not have to be honored. A completely horrible experience. They only offered a staff person to come and make up the pull-out bed (twin size) - no other comp or money back. I will NEVER stay at this place again. The staff, outside of the front desk, were phenomenal. The management ruined the entire experience. We made the most of our first time visit to Antigua...and can safely say...they will never see another dime of our money. NOTE: We also asked other guests did they receive what that booked and was also met with no's...so sadly, we were not the only ones with this experience. read more

The facilities are ok. Updated in 2019, I was told by entertainment staff. The food is terrible. No selections......all breakfast meats are pork. The flies are out of control in the restaurants & bar areas. Don't think about eating on the terraces.....flies galore & cats!!!! I know it's the Caribbean but the restaurant staff here are not very accommodating. Make you feel like you're asking for extra at an all inclusive. The Royalton Antigua is the nastiest hotel that i have ever been to. The food runs out 45 mins after being out of the buffet. The other restaurant called the SCORES runs out of food after being open a few hours. Room service takes 3 hours to come. I injured myself on coming out of the shower, I called the front desk, and nobody picked up. So I limped to the front, and I let the hotel know. I had to ask for things to clean my foot with and I went to the nurse the next day. I asked to speak to manager and was told she was in a meeting at 9am I added the front desk to let her know I would like to talk to her. But throughout the day nobody reached out to myself .management haa avoided me and my family until I was ready to check out. I KNOW IF I WAS A WHITE CUSTOMER I WOULD HAVE BEEN TREATED DIFFERENTLY AND INE OF THERE EMPLOYEES SAID YOU'RE RIGHT IF YOU WERE WHITE YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE ROYAL TREATMENT read more

Horrible experience- IRRESPONSIBILITY and NEGLIGENCE towards guests is shocking. My husband got injured by their Diamond club pool sign with an exposed sharp edge placed right near ping pong table- it was razor sharp and sliced his ankle ! The resort doesn't have even the basic First Aid! Life guard was scrambling to find an old Bandaid while my husband was soaking towels with blood. No wheelchair. The "nurse" refused to even give us a bottle of peroxide - her only concern was to get $175 "consultation fee" while having nothing to even help us with. We ended up limping to a taxi and then incurred $2200 in surgical fees. The resort refused to even offer any kind of compensation. After over a month, my emails are unanswered and General manager is nowhere to be found ! Now Marriott Corporate/Legal dept is involved and are investigating. Thankfully, I have plenty of witnesses and pictures. Their "post-travel assistant" Geroma Grant set up a phone interview and then neglected to call me - HOW PATHETiC IS THAT?
