We recently transferred our Rx to WD pharmacy and have been confused by their services…read more The pharmacist named Lauren tries to be customer oriented. She communicates well and is very friendly and kind. She shows her customers AND her co workers respect from what I have observed. She apologizes when she can see there is an inconvenience and she has actually called me about my Rx before. She seems bound by the head pharmacist's rules & procedures. Note: I am not complaining about pharmaceutical laws and guidelines. I'm am referring to the quirks and inconveniences in this pharmacy. I'm not very fond of the male pharmacist. He seems rude and disrespectful to his coworkers and I have yet to have him look me in the eye when I address him with a question. Instead he speaks to his asst and has them speak to customers as though it is beneath him to converse directly. It appears he is the head pharmacist too which is a shame since Lauren is so much more together and approachable. When you order a refill on the app or the phone tree and go to pick it up at the specified time, it is rarely ready. It is either sitting in a to do bin on their work counter or the manufacturer's bottle is in the hanging plastic bag waiting for you to come in before they count it out and actually fill it. It just seems so backwards. This means you cannot just dash in and out to pick up your Rx. You have to stand in a line behind 5 other ppl and watch this take place 5x before it's your turn. Also, when they say they will call you about something, if he is working they typically don't. Also when you call in with a question it is difficult to get an answer. Usually it just rings and rings so you go and get there and they say oh! We had to order it. Or it's not ready. Or you have to wait another day. There are a few options in Starke for Rx but now days doctors get upset if you switch between pharmacies even if it is for pricing, availability, kindness, or service. I miss Publix. They had consistent service and communication.

Great little deli with awesome fried chicken in the rear, too. Supposedly one of the oldest grocers still operating in Florida and the building interior (while probably not original) looks a bit rough in places but still clean and perfectly acceptable all the same. They have seasonal stuff for the holidays for sale, T-shirts for the local high school football team--stuff like that, too. Highlights: A good selection of pure cane syrup and cane syrup blends--this is important for Southern cooking. We need the pure for our biscuits and the blends for baking. Also has some Goodman's brand extracts but not the full line. You'll have to drive up to Madison to the IGA there for the full line and I and others do, no joke. We Southern folk take our baking real seriously. Also good selection of Nettle's sausages and Gilley's jams and jellies. The produce is normally good but a lot IS local which means it's gonna be what's in season: don't expect things out of season to be local or to be very good, either. Prices are fair, staff are friendly, you can't ask for a lot more.

The prices seem pretty fair, and in all the isles you will see people chatting with each other. This is a quintessential small town grocery store. They also have a thriving little restaurant inside that was quite crowded considering the small size of the town. I tried a roasted chicken leg and it was tasty. The produce all looked fresh and nice and I didn't see anything that would make me uncomfortable in this entire store. It's definitely not the Walmart supercenter but I think that's the whole point. Seems to have plenty of parking and the parking lot was clean as well.

What I thought was a whole chicken, turned out to be some sort of chicken the hispanic community buys for soups or stews. I baked it and threw it out it was so nasty. I called the corporate office and was told it was not a roasting chicken. How was I to know. Their chicken wings still have feathers on them here and there, again Nasty! They buy their chickens from a farm somewhere in Georgia I believe but the safety of shipping chickens is very important. Once I bought what they said was Mayport shrimp, previously frozen. After opening the package the odor was too strong, which tells me the shrimp is not edible and can be dangerous. If you demand quality, Publix is still the best choice. The staff is totally oblivious. They cannot answer any questions, they will also tell you the same story.."we are expecting a truck anytime now, sorry we ran out" Same line over and over. Guess they are trained to lie to their customers to keep them coming back. I bought eggs, several had two yolks, sorry but that's weird to me. Threw them out as well. The crowds are out of control, they do not care if they block the very small isles, if they push and grab, they are mostly foreign customers as I have noticed the meat, vegetables and fruits are more geared to their culture. That's fine but train your staff to be knowledgeable and helpful. I also find the parking lot littered with trash at times, especially in the grassy areas. Not a class act for sure!
