DISCRIMINATION ALERT*** I spoke with Troy over the phone multiple times about renting a 12 inch…read moreauger, told him that I was renting a truck from Home Depot and needing ramps to load it up into the truck. All was fine and dandy. So I rent the truck drive to Thompson tool rental in Des Plaines on Oakton street, finally show up and put my state ID and credit card on the table. Troy walkies the guys to come load the equipment then he grabs my id to read it, he immediately has the GALL to tell me NOPE I can't do it! Because you have a Chicago address on your ID and a rental truck I can't rent this to you.... I was shocked and asked what kind of discriminatory policy this was?!? My wife and father in law were also there we live in des plaines and norridge, I asked if they could use their ID because it shows norridge and des plaines and was still turned down. Troy called up the GM and explained the situation and the GM confirmed that he should not rent the tool to us... This "policy" is discriminatory and I will be filing a complaint with the city of Des Plaines. So let it be known if your ID says that you live in Chicago, you are considered a theft risk. Thompson tool rental should get out of the rental business if they only rent to people who live in certain areas.

Kept a car stored here and when I finally sold it, I contacted these people to cancel my lease…read moretowards the end of April 2016. I received the necessary paperwork the 2nd of May 2016 and filled it out and reminded them that I had contacted them in April and therefore was expecting not to be billed for May. Well they billed me anyway, then refunded the amount, but at no time did I EVER receive my deposit of $55.00 back. My attempts to remedy this have escalated to the Better Business Bureau and Illinois Attorney General. Thompson's whole argument is that I didn't get the paperwork to them till the beginning of the new month (May) but they neglect to acknowledge that they didn't even send me the paperwork until May had started....So I am confused how I could have gotten it to them any sooner... I even called the corporate headquarters and left a message to talk to the owner about my situation. A week later after hearing nothing I called again to only get the office woman, who also happens to be the wife of the owner, and was told that she felt it wasn't necessary to forward my request to her husband/boss. UNBELIEVABLE! This is how a company deals with complaints? Just ignores them?
